The Bachelorette Episode 9

July 13, 2009 by Amy 1 Comment

Awwww….Reeeiiiiddd.  I was so so sad to see Reid go.  I’m not sure if I was ready for any of the 3 to go but Reid had really grown on me the last few weeks and I really thought after the whole malfunction…which, was it really malfunction?….that Ed would go.  But Ed is a very, very good communicator and Jillian likes that.  In fact, the reason Reid left was best spoken by him in some of his last words to Jillian, “I don’t know what to say.”

Let me pause here and say I forced Scott to watch the first 90 minutes of tonight’s show.   He just walked in and asked who left. I told him Reid.  He says the middle one?  I say yes and he says “I figured.”  You figured??  He’s barely watched the season.  I asked him how he figured and he said “Well, the way she acted with the first and last I just figured.”  Hmm.

Anyway, I’m sad to see Reid go.  Although not seeing a couple in a bubble bath together for a while would be ok with me.  Did anyone else think they should have pushed the cameraman out long before that?

I’m kind of disappointed Kiptyn and Jillian spent their date on a ropes course.  Not too romantic if you ask me for a Top 3 date.  Especially in Hawaii.  We didn’t see much of their evening/night either.  Although let me say once again…Kiptyn’s in the finale and I so called that.

As for Ed, I literally gasped when he announced his parents were in Hawaii.  Yess!!!  I think Scott thought I was insane but they kept that little secret from the previews and it was awesome!  Although not so awesome?  Ed’s dad.  He scared me a little bit at first.  Once again, Ed seemed to be able to talk himself out of trouble and they both seemed ok with Jill by the end.  But truly, Jillian seems completely taken with Ed.  With his confession of love, I had no doubts he would be picked.

As for the finale, I think I’m going to call Kiptyn.  From the previews, Kiptyn tells her he’s ready for marriage and kids and I think that’s the last 10% Jillian’s been waiting for from him.

Plus, Ed, Tom Selleck called and he wants his shorts back.

The Bachelorette Episode 8

July 6, 2009 by Amy 2 Comments

*puke, puke, puke*

Wes was just BEYOND a unbelievable tonight.  I am completely flabbergasted.  My jaw is literally dropped.  I have never, in all my Bachelor(ette) watching years have I seen someone so inconsiderate and just..just…a JERK!  At least we got it out of his OWN MOUTH…he was there for his record and he had a girlfriend.  Does he think he’s going to win fans that way?  Are people seriously going to support him now??  And then not only to admit he was acting, not care to explain himself to Jillian and then act like a pompous jerk, he had to put down Reid and the other guys.  OMG!  I really don’t know when the last time I’ve seen someone be so conniving.  Jake, thank you for stepping up because I don’t think Jillian would have pushed him so hard had you not come to tell her.

OK, so now that I have that out of my system.

Reid moved ahead to the front last week for me and I think I’m going to keep him there another week.  They were more than adorable in Spain.  To me, she seems to have the most comfort level with him and yet keeps that physical attraction as well.  The thing about Reid is he’s wanting to move too slowly and he has a hard time communicating and Jillian is really having to draw it out of him.

Obviously Jillian and Ed have serious chemistry.  I think the family thing is a serious issue.  Melissa and Jason had the same issue last year and I think it will be an issue going forward.   I’m not totally sold on Ed and Jillian together but I like him a whole lot.

I continue to love Kiptyn and Jillian together and see no issues but what scares me about Jillian is she’s questioning herself about them so much. I did feel good about their conversation about him voicing his opinions (or not).

Now on another random note, can you believe she turned down all the fantasy suites?  I think first time in the show’s history not one guy got an overnight (well, technically Ed did)?  Good for her though.

Hawaii looks amazing and I’m guessing all those fantasy suites go down then.  We still have yet to see who has the “malfunction” and let me say I am NOT happy to see that it is any of those 3.

Bachelorette Episode 7

June 29, 2009 by Amy 4 Comments

I’m not sure I could have come up with more boring hometown dates.  I think they made Ed and Jake come back just so they could have a decent episode.  Ok, not really, but wow.  I was almost hoping for a dove burial.  The best we got was a lasag-nah taste test.

Maybe my problem was I watched the show a little backwards.  I started watching right when Jake came in, watched to the end and then started with the dates from the beginning.

So let’s try to start this at the beginning.

Reid – I really, really like Reid still.  Jill seemed to fit in great with them and I think Reid is really falling for her.  Him doing the PDA thing in front of his family was really cute.  Hometown date with Reid was a big score for me.

Michael – Poor Michael.  He was great with his family.  His twin Steve talking about them and their plans for their wives was sweet even though a little creepy.  It was really sweet with this sister coming all the way from Australia.  It was clear he was close with his family.  But I felt like all his family could offer her was how funny Michael was.

Kiptyn – For the first time this season, I’m really, really concerned about Kiptyn.  I’m not a big fan of those “games” families play.  And then the mother even hinted that she was overbearing and THEN stood at the door watching them in the hot tub.  You have no idea how many red flags went up.  And I’m still very concerned that he’s the one with the “mechanical problem” next week.

Jesse – Jillian didn’t seem to fit in Jesse’s family if you ask me. His brother seemed shocked that he would have kids so quickly.  His brother just scared me a bit.  Jillian still seemed to have doubts about Jesse.  I just didn’t get a good feeling coming out of that one.

Wes – The band?  Really?  Could he BE more obvious?  And Jillian was falling for it HARD.  And his family?  Seemed just as over the moon about Wes.  I don’t know.  Maybe it’s all editing and Wes is the nice guy.  But Jake?  He’s the straight and narrow and I trust him.  So if he says he has a girlfriend, Wes has a girlfriend.  Maybe he likes Jillian and he’s broken up with Laurel in his head.  I don’t know!  I just know I don’t trust the guy.

Overall, I think Reid and his family win the hometown dates.

Now let’s talk about Ed!  I was SO HAPPY (but not shocked) to see Ed show up!  I was never a huge Ed fan but when he showed up I was all ED!  THANK GOODNESS!  And all the sudden, I wanted Ed to stay and win, even.  Maybe I should admit I found out he works for Microsoft this week and he won me over a bit but seriously, I thought Jillian might jump him on the couch.  She definitely still likes the guy and I’m really glad he came back and she picked him.

So Jesse and Michael left tonight.  No disappointments or surprises.  Except of course that she kept Wes around.  But I don’t think Jesse or Michael had a shot of being in the finale anyway so no biggie.

As for next week we know something big happens.  And it seems to be someone she sees as a front-runner.  So I have it narrowed down to Kiptyn, Wes.  Maybe Ed.  I think it would hilarious if it were Wes.  After tonight, I think I would be most disappointed if it were Ed.  I don’t know, we haven’t even met his family but I have a good feeling about him.  And I know I’ve been harping on Kiptyn or “Kip” as his family called him but something just didn’t feel right with his family.

So I’m on the Reid and Ed train for now.  And I wish Jillian would get OFF the Wes train once and for all!

The Bachelorette: Episode 6

June 22, 2009 by Amy 3 Comments

*Spoilers*

So the foot-fetish-er leaves.  I would agree with him that it wasn’t the foot fetish.  I think it was apparent in his goodbye footage.  He was too concentrated on Wes and not enough of Jillian.  Jillian likes when the guys are openly obsessive over her and besides her feet, I don’t think Tanner fell in that category.

As for Jake, I think it spilled in his footage as well. He did everything he could do.  And Jake did.  He was perfectly perfect.  And obviously that’s not what Jillian wants.  She ate it up when Reid couldn’t quit talking about his fondue neurosis.  She obviously wants a real guy…and who doesn’t?

As for the ones left.

Kiptyn – I’m telling you people unless Kiptyn has one screwed up family, he’s going to win this thing.

Jesse – He’s a close second.  She really likes Jesse and seems really comfortable with him.

Reid – I really like Reid.  For the record, I think he made a mistake of not wearing the glasses. I would have told him to keep the glasses on.  But I think he’s super funny and real.  But he really is neurotic and not sure how that will pan out long-term with Jillian.

Michael – Michael is a wreck waiting to happen.  I don’t see him winning this at all.  But I see that Jillian has a great time with him and he obviously is falling all over her which she is loving.  If she picks him, it’d be like DeAnna picking Jesse.

Wes – Jerk.  Gah, I can’t believe Tanner didn’t tell Jillian it was him before he left.  He had nothing to lose at that point except a good fight on the Men Tell All episode.

Just watched the previews:

So glad Jake is going back…Mr. Perfect is doing the right thing.

I’m really really scared is Kiptyn who loses it in the fantasy suite

I think Ed comes back and proposes

The Bachelorette Episode 4

June 8, 2009 by Amy 2 Comments

I think Chris was right in a tweet this week that said the game started this week.  And for me, it did.  Tonight I felt like I really got to know everyone.  I think we’re down to the point where you have a good idea of who’s who and what’s going on.

I’m going to start off with Kiptyn partly because that’s how the episode started and partly because I LOVE KIPTYN.  If you’ve been paying attention, you know I’ve called Kiptyn since the first night.  He’s cute, humble, down-to-earth, affectionate and charming.  What’s not to love?  Just when you think Jillian’s going to have to pull a friend card on him in the middle of the grocery store, he comes up behind her cooking dinner and kisses her neck or tells her her eyes are beautiful out of nowhere.  OMG.  Loved that.  He gives her so much attention and affection and really listens to her yet when it’s his turn to talk, he seems to lay it on the line for her.  Ahh…if he doesn’t make it to the finals, something is WRONG.

A few of the guys grew on me this week.

One is Mike.  The guy is hilarious.  Him talking about going to spend time with Jillian where there was NO CURLING was so cute.  I especially liked his “blue blob of nothingness” comment.  He’s just so cute and funny.  I think it’d be fun to be friends with him.  I don’t necessarily see anything long-term between him and Jillian but him admitting he has a crush on Jillian makes me want him around longer.  And if next week’s clips are any hint, he steps up his game.

I thought I had written about this last week, but I love Reid.  Really, really love Reid.  I noticed him more last week but I really like him.  He’s got the cutest little grin and expressions.  He’s down to earth and seems patient and kind.  I think he has some ground to make up compared to the others but I like him.

Jesse went all out for Jillian tonight but I have to comment about that little victory dance he did.  So cute.

As for the things that didn’t go so well tonight.

Jake I think slipped a little tonight.  I think he might get handed the friend card eventually.  Who knows though she does seem to like him and that date they had still stands out.

Dave makes an awful drunk.  I think he might be a decent guy if he’d just lay off the alcohol.   Seriously.  All the talk about how good she looked and him pulling up her shirt and the kiss was just disgusting.  Add in the angry hate from last week and I’m SO GLAD Dave is gone.

As for the Mark/Mike date, I honestly thought Jillian wouldn’t give a rose to either of them.  That’s what she should have done.  Mike came on too strong and poor Mark just looked lost the whole time.  Definitely don’t see him keeping up with Jillian.

Not sure why Jillian didn’t keep Juan around.  We didn’t see a lot of him this week.  Maybe that was the problem.

For some reason I keep grouping Ed and Robby together.  In fact, until this week, I couldn’t tell them apart much.  But in the few clips we got to see of Ed, I like him a lot. I think he could come on strong later on.  I think at this point Robby is just slipping through the cracks.  He seems like a genuinely nice guy and she has no reason not to keep him.

As for Tanner.  Tanner is weird.  Not sure what to do with him.  I do appreciate that he brought up the girlfriend thing to Jillian but hate that he didn’t bring up names.  Also really hate that he wouldn’t speak up and say something in front of the guys.  He needed to man up if you ask me.

And finally Wes.  I think Jillian is getting ready to get her heart broken next week.  Poor girl.

Overall I’m happy with who went home.  I could have traded Juan for Wes but in the end, does it matter?  I think the front runners are safely, uh, safe.  And to finish up…Kiptyn FTW!

The Bachelorette – Episode 3

June 2, 2009 by Amy 2 Comments

So yeah, three weeks in and I’m still watching.  But it’s the only TV I”m watching ALL week.  So very proud of myself.  Reactions from last night.

Sasha and his unicorns needed to go.

I liked Ed ok.  I could see him in the finale but no overwhelming chemistry from my side of the screen but whatever.  She seemed into him.

I really liked Robby.  He actually seems to be a natural actor and their kiss was so cute.  (Unlike that super cool dude.  That.  Was Awkward.)

Tanner P. is so very weird yet so entertaining.  I can’t believe Jillian hasn’t booted him just for his foot fetish.

I have a feeling Wes is there for his music.  I also have a feeling Jillian is falling for it.

Something is weird about Juan.  In some ways he seems sincere and nice but after the whole shot thing and walking away from Dave, I had to pull his man card.  I was disappointed he stayed.

Dave should have gone home.  And while I appreciate his attempts to be manly, man, he’s coming across as a playground bully.  Go home, Dave.

Almost no word from the pilot this week.  I think Jillian likes him and is a fan favorite but I’m not a big fan.

I think if given time, Reid could come on strong but Kiptyn is still my favorite.

The rest are just eh.

In fact the whole season so far is just eh even with the breakdancing and bullying.  The best thing so far is Jillian’s wardrobe.  I need her stylist to hook me up!  Scott actually made me rewind it twice to see her in that little blue short jumpsuit thing last night.  She’s so cute!

American Idol Finale with Phil Stacey

May 20, 2009 by Amy 3 Comments

Yesterday I saw on Twitter that Season 6 Idol Contestant Phil Stacey was going to be in Charlotte.  I tried to reply and ask if it was a public event but I unsuprisingly did not get a response.  So Google to the rescue.  I pull up our local Christian station and see they are doing a private meet and greet today.  It included dinner, Q&A, autographs/pictures and the 2 hours Season 8 Idol Finale.  There was a form to fill out to win but I figured that they certainly would have picked the winners of the tickets by then.  But I fill the form out anyway.

Today I was finishing up work about 4:15, I get ready to get my hair cut at 5 and just as I am getting ready to leave about 4:30, I get a call from the radio station saying that someone had backed out, could I come that evening?  It “just so happened” that the place was no more than 2 minutes from where I was getting my hair cut and doors opened at 6:30.  It really couldn’t have worked out better.  Especially since Danny was not in the finale and I didn’t have to worry so much about getting it all screencapped and such for the web site.  It worked out perfectly!

We all know I wasn’t looking forward to it much but this completely pumped me!  How cool is it that I got to watch an Idol Finale with a former contestant??

When we got there, there literally was a meet and greet.  We were able to talk to him for a few minutes.  Of course within the first two minutes I got out that I was a big Danny Gokey fan.  He’s apparently a friend of his.  We both agree he needs to do Christian music and his label wants to sign him.  We also found out that we have the same Church of God background.  And he went to Lee University, where Heather went for a year (?) and also the same school that our old church, Central Church of God supports and whose pastor frequently speaks on campus.  We all love Pastor Livingston.  Seriously, look up their podcast.  You won’t regret it.   So things were off to a great start!

We ate dinner, catered from Qdoba then.  The meet and greet was held at a stone company.  It sounds odd but their showroom is absolutely gorgeous.  There were 5 or so tables that are set up for customers and each have a cabinet with a flat screen at the end of it that were all tuned to American Idol.  Phil chose our table that also had a woman and her two teenage daughters, one of which also is attending Lee University.  It’s a small world, people!  Obviously we talked a lot about Lee and the group Lee Singers that he was a part of and used to visit our church.  He told some really funny stories.  I was crying I was laughing so hard listening to some of the stories.

With what little time we had left, he answered questions and played his single off his new album coming out in August.  It is a GREAT song and I definitely can see it being a hit on Christian radio.  And I’m picky!

Once Idol started, we all gathered around our respective TVs.  During the commercials Phil would give little tidbits of information about behind the scenes of idol.

It was a lot of fun watching Idol with a group.  I loved meeting Phil.  I was telling her he seemed like our kind of people.  We could definitely hang with him and feel right at home.  He is a super sweet guy, very personable and we did get to hear snippets of him sing live and his voice is amazing in person.

As for the finale itself, I just have to say it was the best finale in a long time.  Kara’s bikini segment was my favorite Idol moment EVER.  And to top all this off, Kris actually won!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel like I need to give a note about the pictures…I have a dumb look on my face at dinner and my hair is so flat!  My hairdresser always insists on flat ironing it to pieces!

Can you have a sad hangover?

May 14, 2009 by Amy 7 Comments

Cause I think I have one.  It is no surprise I’m sure that I was sad about Danny leaving Idol.  Yeah, I cried.  A lot.  Not an ugly cry but a long and slow cry while I replayed his goodbye song over and over  (gah, yes, i’m a little fangirl inside like that). If I thought Tuesday’s rendition was amazing, this one beat it by a mile.   It was obvious he was singing to his wife and I’m usually not one prone to caring about Hallmark moments, but that one put in a puddle.  Maybe I AM prone to Hallmark moments and that’s why I hate Lifetime and Hallmark movies.  Hmm.  It was just hard knowing it’s only been 10 months since he said goodbye to her and in one of the biggest moments of his life he didn’t have her there with him to support him.  And you could just SEE his emotion all over his face.  This is the part that kills me every time.

Click to view full size image

Ack.  It was just so beautiful.  (On a side note, his lips remind me of Elvis there.)  And knowing that he was just one week away from beating Adam (or at least having the chance to) hurt a little too. So yeah, I’m sad.  I know he’ll do well and I’ll scream for him at the Idol Concert and hopefully get his autograph and then proceed to buy every record he ever makes.  It’s all good.  Or it will be.

All I can say now about Idol is Kris FTW!

And I may as well plug my web site here.  If you want to keep up with him sans Idol, check out IHeartDannyGokey.com
