AI Top 11

March 17, 2009 by Amy 5 Comments

Trying to make this a quick one…

Michael Sarver Does not showcase his vocals at all.  In fact, he pales in comparison to the original.  He’s in trouble tonight.

Allison Iraheta — Blame It On The Heart: She does well with whatever she sings. Seriously.

Kris Allen Make you Feel My Love – That is one of my favorite love songs ever.  And the way he sang it, almost brought me to tears.  And songs just don’t do that.  I loved it.

Lil Rounds — Independence Day: Did not fit her well.  At all.

Adam Lambert — Ring of Fire: If you can close your eyes and try to ignore the snarling in his voice, Adam sounded good.  But other than that, he was just gross tonight.  And butchered that song.  He DID have one spot were it was impressive but he’s yucky to me.  I do not care to see him on tour at all!

Scott MacIntyre — Wild Angels: Heather and I likened Scott to the guy that writes the music for the elevator or “on hold”.  It was nice and pretty but does it really fit American Idol?

Alexis Grace — Jolene: She lost me on this.  She had some bad notes and I agree..she needs to dirty it up some more.  But not in the same way Adam dirties it up.

Danny Gokey — Jesus Take the Wheel: The beginning was a little scary.  He was talking it a little more than singing it but halfway through he was amazing.  I know he wants to sing mainstream, but he is a ringer for a Christian singer.

Anoop Desai — You’re Always On My Mind: He scared me when he said he was going to change it up, but I thought he did GREAT.  Anoooop!

Megan Joy — I Go Walking After Midnight: There’s not much I liked.  Her voice IS unique but again, it was kind of hokey for me.

Matt Giraud — So Small: Loved, loved, loved this.

Well honestly I think overall Matt and Kris took tonight.  Danny at parts sang circles around them but from start to finish, I have to give it to them.

I think Michael and Scott are going to be bottom 2.

Wilmington Report and How Awesome God Is

March 15, 2009 by Amy 8 Comments

Our 48 hours in Wilmington was for lack of a better word, insane.  If you want detailed reports of filming and such go to Thursday filming report or Friday’s filming report.

If you want the short of it basically the entire cast ended up filming on Thursday including guest star Nick Lachey.  And I FINALLY got a picture with Chad Michael Murray.  We stayed outside standing on a sidewalk freezing for hours on end both Thursday and Friday waiting on them each to have a break in filming to come speak to us.   We didn’t get to go to the reunion dinners as planned but ended up talking to several people at filming (including Carolyn who reads this blog and her two children!).   Like I said there, it was nice to hang out with people who knew as much or more than I did about OTH.  Thursday night we went out downtown hoping to run into cast members but didn’t find anything.  We did however hang out with 3 other fans that were really cool.

Friday evening we stayed in.  Heather slept and I caught up on all my posting and pictures and Grey’s Anatomy.  I finally went to sleep around 1 I think.  Heather had the weirdest allergy reaction around 2.  Her eyeball turned red and swelled until it was bulging.  It was WEIRD.  We went out to CVS and got her some drops and Benadryl which helped enough that we didn’t rush to the ER.

Saturday we slept in as much as we could until time for the studio tour.  Which was great because we saw some sets we didn’t see last year AND we were able to peek at the call sheet for next week and got to see that one of the biggest scenes of the series was being filmed next week.

That Part About God

Most would call us lucky, but I have to say I think God blessed us this weekend.  I think this is where that “peculiar people” label will come into play but I have to say Heather and I literally prayed God would grant us favor this weekend and we’d get to see filming and meet some cast members.  And wow, did he deliver.  Just go take a look at all these pictures and you’ll see that we got pictures with or at least saw almost every single cast member.  But even more than that, I wrote in a post on OTHBlog that I really wanted to meet the creator of OTH.  I heard he was in town and it was one of few chances.  Here’s what I wrote:

Honestly, I’m dying because Mark is in town.  I REALLY want to meet him.

MARK, COME FIND US IN WILMINGTON!!

Now here’s an excerpt from one of my filming report posts:

You guys know I was dying to meet Mark…it was on “the list” when we left.  Heather and I decide to get some ice cream this afternoon at Kilwin’s.  We’re sitting on Market in my car facing across to the RiverCourt and notice a white van.  It doesn’t appear there is filming but it definitely meant something was up.

When we got there, there was a group of 5 or 6 people with some sort of lens/camera looking out over the RiverCourt and downtown Wilmington.  And THEN a white van pulls up and out steps Mark.  OMG.  We do a little fangirl scream b/c omg, we were the only fans there and there stands MARK who we’ve been dying to see.  So random!

He joins the group and they work on whatever scene they were working on.  They walk down to the water line and face Market street and point and talk and do whatever they do.  My gut said it was some sort of scene for the finale since we know Mark is directing.  So Heather and I have squatted on the picnic bench there and when they move to go back towards the parking lot, we call him over and say we want a picture when he is done.  He says he can do it right then.  We tell him we’ve been wanting to get his picture the whole trip.  We mention we run this site and he thanks us for our work.  We tell him thanks for all their work on the show that we love it.  And then Heather and I go scream in the car. LOL.  Yes, we turn into fangirls when we arrive in Wilmington.

Now let me tell you why I know this was a direct and specific answer to prayer.  While we were standing in the cold and wind on the sidewalk Friday afternoon, we were just about over it.  We wanted to leave and get warm but couldn’t hardly tear ourselves away never knowing when one of the cast would come over.  We were going back and forth, wanting to get some ice cream or something (they have this GREAT place called Kilwin’s!).  I suddenly felt God saying “GO AND COME BACK!!” and it was just like that over and over GO AND COME BACK!! GO AND COME BACK!!  So I said to Heather, Let’s Go!  So we did.  We got our ice cream and we went to sit in the car with it.  Then Heather looks across the river where the river court is (If you don’t know the show, the River Court is one of the key filming locations from the show) and she says there are white vans over there (which means that is cast or crew traveling around town).  So we start going back and forth whether to go over there (which didn’t look like anything was going on) or head back to filming.  And then I heard “Go NOW”.  I was about 3/4 the way through my ice cream and I said we’re going to the river court and handed Heather my cone so I could pull out.  We pull into the river court and there are the few crew members there.  We were sitting there literally less than a minute and another van pulls up and who but Mark Schwahn jumps out.  The story above tells what happens but ya’ll??  That wasn’t an accident!  I know it sounds dumb but I just know it’s true!

So when Heather and I prayed I said, “God, we’ll give you the glory and praise” so this it.  God, thank you for caring about what I care about and helping us find that needle in a haystack.  You are awesome and thank you!!

American Idol Top 13

March 10, 2009 by Amy 2 Comments

Honest to goodness I’m about American Idol-ed out by this point.  I’ve videoed and screencapped and posted and discussion boarded and voted myself crazy this evening for Danny.  But alas, I still want to get my thoughts out on ALL the contestants.

Anoop Desai – Beat It Anoop is in trouble.   That was not very good.
Lil Rounds – The Way You Make Me Feel I thought I’d be blown away by her again but I just wasn’t.  She’s got a voice and the song was ok.  She just didn’t blow me away.  And may I be so bold to see that Lil’s got much back?  Even white boys gotta shout.
Kris Allen – Remember The Time I loved. Kris Allen.  The beginning was better than the end.  I think he got a tad excited and kind of went off on a tangent but wow, he WAS sexy and so much more comfortable behind the guitar.  I really hope we get to see more of him. One thing I have to say here is Kris’ wife’s reaction to Simon’s comment was HILARIOUS!
Matt Giraud – Human Nature I lurved me some Matt tonight.  Definitely could see buying his record.  And I think he sounded pop like he wants yet kept the soul in there.  Very JTish of him.  Nice!
Adam Lambert – Black or White I said it on Twitter but you either love or hate Adam.  I’ve said before I do not like him.  And I still don’t like him.
Jorge Nunez – Never Can Say Goodbye Jorge was very forgettable tonight.  I think he’s in trouble too.
Scott MacIntyre – Keep The Faith I feel bad for saying it but I wasn’t entirely impressed with Scott.  Little boring and a little off.
Danny Gokey – PYT (Pretty young Thing) – Go Danny!!  I have to admit it was a little questionable at first and I felt at times he was screaming the song but wow, he’s really amazing.  The dancing was not good but he even admitted and making fun of yourself is the first step to people accepting you.  It’s ok, Danny!
Alexis Grace – Dirty Diana She was great!  The girl knows how to put some fire behind her songs.  Love it.
Michael Sarver – You Are Not Alone He was better than I thought he was going to be tonight.  Not sure he deserves to go home quite yet but I don’t see him lasting more than a few weeks.
Allison Iraheta – Give In To Me Girl is awesome.  She reminds me so much of Kelly Clarkson but she’s got grit that Kelly lacks.
Jasmine Murray – I’ll Be There It was ok.  Safe and boring.
Megan Joy Corkrey – Rockin Robin – Isn’t she googling herself and reading how she has to quit the hip thing?  Oh my word, it makes it all weird.  If she had gone funky with that instead of Playhouse Disney, it might have been good.  She’s in trouble too.

Favorites tonight were Danny, Allison, Matt and Alexis.  And honorable mention to Kris.

As noted, Megan, Anoop, Jasmine and Jorge are IN TROUBLE.

American Idol Top 36 Group 3

March 4, 2009 by Amy 5 Comments

Special vlogging for tonight’s review below.

All I can say, is Nate, you DO NOT want to start this trend.  It’s just scary.

headbanz

FYI, all of what I say in the video is below the video typed out. You know, just in case you can’t stand looking at the headbanz.

I felt like tonight was a hodge podge of all the ok people.  There wasn’t any huge standouts.  I wasn’t completely blown away by anyone.

Von Smith – I was not a fan coming in to tonight.  He screamed.  He seemed overly dramatic and didn’t care much for his personality.  His vocals tonight were better but I just don’t think it’s enough.

Taylor Vaifanua – She’s got a good enough voice but the performance was boring and she showed no personality whatsoever

Alex Wagner-Trufman – I love Alex.  Geeks rule!  I always appreciate his comments back to the judges.  But the moves were awkward, the voice wasn’t perfect.  Just overall not American Idol material.

Arianna Afsar – She was so boring I could not remember what she sang by the end of the episode.  And wasn’t she a little cocky…I hope they don’t comment on how good I look?

Ju’Not Joyner – He went too slow on that song but it was solid.  He sang it well.  He had some soul and personality with that.

Kristen McNamara – I agree she needs a stylist but I think she’s a solid performer.  I am also a little confused on what kind of singer she is though.

Nathaniel Marshall – I did not enjoy his song.  I think he has a voice somewhere in there but he totally ruined that song.

Felicia Barton – I don’t remember too much of her from Hollywood but I’m personally glad she came back.  I think she did Alicia Keys justice as much as someone can and she does have a little something different to her voice she can play up.  And wow, love her new hair cut.  Nice!

Scott MacIntyre – Scott is not the perfect vocalist if you ask me but he really knows how to give a song meaning and knows how to connect his audience.  And the fact that he can do that without even looking at anyone or anything is downright amazing. I want him to make it just so I can see him on the piano.  And that high-five at the end sealed the deal for me.  Hilarious!

Kendall Beard – I’ve been a country fan and still am some but I wasn’t a fan of Kendall’s tonight.  I don’t think compared to Lil or Felicia it’s enough.

Jorge Nunez – I love his heart and his passion and he has a great voice.  I’m glad Simon brought up his accent.  There happens to be an Enrique Iglesias who still has a decent Spanish accent who has done quite well for himself.

Lil Rounds – Part of me didn’t want to like Lil.  Usually I’m not a fan of the power singer.  But I think she proved why they put her in the pimp spot.  She chose a great, relatable, current song and sang the heck out of it.  She will sail through.

I’m hoping Lil, Felicia and Scott go through.

And OMG, I can’t believe I’m really going to post this.

The Bachelor: Finale and ATFR1

March 2, 2009 by Amy 4 Comments

Chris says it all the time but really this WAS the most dramatic finale.  I have changed from being irate, to sick to just sad while watching tonight’s episode.  So I read all the spoilers ahead of time.  They predicted everything that went down tonight.  The difference though is that #1 Jason doesn’t admit to seeing Molly in the 2 months since the finale and #2 Steve suspects the entire thing was planned between ABC and Jason.

I really can’t decide which I’m more mad at…the fact that I knew the spoilers and it COMPLETELY ruined Jason’s proposal to Melissa for me or the fact it went down.  I mean, I’ve been rooting for Melissa since Day 1 and he ACTUALLY PICKED HER.  I should be ecstatic! But no….I knew he was getting ready to dump her and it just made me SICK to watch that proposal.  And of course Melissa was SO happy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of the bachelorettes so entirely happy she was getting proposed to.  He finally got to say I love you.

And then the ATFR came on.  I thought it interesting Melissa seemed to already know something was up.  That was DEFINITELY NOT the hellos we’ve seen from Melissa thus far.  Jason says they’ve talked about them so maybe she already suspected.  Steve seems to think she already suspected he had been seeing Molly although Jason blatantly denied it.  Which even if the whole set-up is false, I seriously doubt that is true.

Set up or not why did he have to do this on camera?  He clearly said they’d been together during the holidays and on trips…why not then?  The only thing that makes sense is this was planned from the get-go.  Which seriously makes me go through the roof.

Tomorrow night is ATFR and I’m not even sure I can watch.  And I really liked Molly. I really did.  But now I can not stomach seeing them. I really thought I might puke when I saw them kissing at the end of tonight’s show.

I said it in Twitter and I’ll say it again, Molly seems like a nice girl, but I’ll be happy when I hear they’ve broken up.

*Update*

Two good reads

Chris Harrison’s Blog

Kristen’s Recap

After reading those I have to be honest and say I want to believe Chris and say it wasn’t scripted.  Steve NEVER said that was 100% true…that was his speculation.  I like that Kristen names him a conspiracy theorist and trust me, with all the blogs I have, I certainly have seen my fair share of them.  And usually…I don’t agree with them.

But Chris verified, yes, they came up with the idea to do it on camera and I think that’s where some of us are having issue even if it wasn’t scripted.  Also, Chris swears up and down that Molly and Jason did not see each other but that doesn’t mean that they hadn’t communicated in email/phone calls, etc.

In the end, I still feel so bad for Melissa.  They (probably not by mistake) had made it clear her old boyfriends had treated her like crap and she had been dumped over and over.  And now this time, it had to be done for the whole world to see.  I know ABC thought they “owed it to us” to see them break up and as much as it made for good TV, sometimes you have to draw the line.  If this show is really about love, then give it a little respect.  It’s one thing to show their first few dates and even the proposal but when someone is being hurt so deeply, draw the line.   Yes, at every proposal someone is hurt but they sign up for that and prepare for that.  But being blindsided like this on camera?  Not expected.  Not cool.

Melrose Place Blog

March 2, 2009 by Amy 2 Comments

When my blogging slows down, especially during a One Tree Hill hiatus, please be assured I am off in some Internet corner creating another web site.  Please call me with urgency and convince me to STOP WHAT I’M DOING.

In this case, no one stopped me in time.  I’m getting a head start on the new Melrose Place remake.  The casting isn’t even complete yet but it’s much easier to do a few posts than try to catch up last minute.

American Idol: Top 36 Group 2

February 26, 2009 by Amy 2 Comments

Jasmine Murray – “Love Song” – Her voice was just not strong enough.  Maybe nerves.  Maybe the wrong song. I enjoyed her more in Hollywood Week.

Matt Giraud – “Viva La Vida” – Man, I was so hopeful for Matt.  I thought he was a shoe-in for Top 12 after his Hollywood performances but man, that was rough.  He tried too hard.  You just can’t do that to that song.  And he’s trying to be a singer that he is not.  #1 rule – be yourself!

Jeanine Vailes – “This Love” – Uhhh..I don’t remember this performance at. all.

Nick Mitchell – “And I Am Telling You” – I think Norman Gentle is entertaining.  I don’t think he belongs in the Top 12 but he’s entertaining.  But last night, there were some rough spots in his song.  But he was still entertaining.

Allison Iraheta – “Alone” – I was impressed with her.  I love that song and I thought she did well with it.  I feel like she was actually the best of the night.

Kris Allen – “Man In The Mirror” – I wanted to like Kris.  He’s been getting a decent fan base built around the ‘ol Internet but I just don’t think it was strong enough.

Megan Joy Corkrey – “Put Your Records On” –  First off, what was that movement she was doing?  I dare not call it dancing.  I looked at Scott last night and said “What is she doing??”  That being said, I love how unique her voice is and she’s gorgeous.  Didn’t much like her talking back to the judges saying she sounded good.  I think that’s a rule somewhere too.

Matt Breitzke – “If You Could Only See” – zzzzzzz

Jesse Langseth – “Bette Davis Eyes” – First off, I feel the need to reiterate a tweet from last night “jesse, you can’t wear that kind of sweater with mommy boobs. trust me, i know.” Besides that, I think Jesse has a good voice but I did not like that song.  I felt like she was trying to hard and REALLY didn’t like her attitude with the judges.  I *think* she was trying to be likable and confident but it was off-putting to me.

Kai Kalama – “What Becomes Of A Broken Heart” – He sang it well enough.  Just not well ENOUGH.

Mishavonna Henson – “Drops of Jupiter” – I love her voice but parts of that were a little rough.  I don’t think it’s going to be enough to pick up the phone and vote.

Adam Lambert – “Satisfaction” – Adam has a HUGE fanbase.  A lot of people like him.  But I don’t much.  I don’t think he connects with his audience.  I think he tries too hard when he sings.  The last song he sang in Hollywood was awful for me.  He walks around as if he’s on a catwalk. And he wears too much manscara and guyliner.

But even so, Adam will sail through.  Along with Allison.  As for 3rd place, it’s going to be a close call though.  I think Megan, Matt G and Kris all have good chances.  The bad thing is, I think I’d replace Michael Sarver with any of those 3.  And that is the reason I hate this year’s format.

For the record, I voted for Allison and Matt G.

The Bachelor: Women Tell All

February 24, 2009 by Amy 2 Comments

  • Charlie and Sarah surprised me.  She didn’t mince words last night.  But good for them.
  • I still <3 Trista and Ryan.  Mostly Ryan and his firefighting poem-writing beanie-wearing self.
  • Frank and whatshername, the reality show rejects were really cute together.
  • The rest of the old contestants, well, not sure I should comment on them.  I think their actions might speak for themselves.
  • Natalie was and is still clueless about herself.  She tries to think she knows herself and is not a self-absorbed drama-loving woman, but she isn’t.  Too bad the rest of the world sees it and she doesn’t.
  • Stephanie is still a sweetheart and I really wish her the best.
  • Surprisingly Megan kept her mouth shut.  Maybe she actually learned from her experience.
  • Jillian was amazing last night.  She truly captivated me when she spoke even if she did say “in the bag” more like “in the beg”.  I really felt for her and what she’d gone through.  She was way more into it than Jason.  I’m surprised though that Chris didn’t have the contract out on the table for her to sign to be the next Bachelorette.  That will be a fun season.

*SPOILER*

As for the huge spoiler that is out about this season.  If you haven’t read it, it supposedly explains about the big secret in the ending.  I have to admit the editing done last night played right into that.  BUT Chris gives me hope this week in his blog.  Yes, it could be a company line but (and I know this sounds stupid) but I trust Chris.  After watching and reading his stuff for years, I really do think he’s the real deal.  That being said, I still think it’s possible whatever decision Jason makes, he changes his mind.  Maybe Deanna really freaked him out.  I want to believe that that wasn’t scripted from mid-season and whatever happens is done on Jason’s own terms.  And if Jason screws up, well, it’s just him.
