RIP Desperate Housewives and Private Practice

October 23, 2008 by Amy 3 Comments

I’m done.  With both of them.  Desperate Housewives and Private Practice.  Two staple shows for me are getting marked off the list.  It’s not that they’ve done anything wrong really.

The DH five year jump didn’t really hurt them but the storylines they’ve chosen in that jump has.  It’s all too close to real life now. I used to like it so much because it was so fantastical.  It was ridiculous the way people acted and reacted and what happened to them would NEVER happened to one set of people.  But now? It’s just all too close to home and I don’t get taken up with the storylines anymore.  Now they’re just broken people trying to handle it like the rest of us.  Yes, it works in some shows but not what I watched DH for.

As for Private Practice, I’m a huge Shonda Rhimes fan.  I mean, really, she gave me my Grey’s baby.  I had high hopes for Private Practice.  I wanted to like all these doctors and their idiosyncracies and issues and patients.  But I find I just don’t care. I don’t care if Sam and Della are sleeping together.  I don’t care that Addison got a date with SWAT guy and I REALLY don’t care that the ped is sleeping with the hospital doctor.  I do care a bit about Dell.  I’m glad he’s back.  But it’s just not enough to keep me watching.

So, sorry, ABC, I’m tuning out.  RIP.

Grey’s Anatomy and The Office Review

October 10, 2008 by Amy 3 Comments

The Office

  • I kept finding myself saying I love Jim and Dwight!  They are hilarious together.  That stopwatch was hilarious.  And that look Dwight gave after his 19 minute break?  Hilarious.
  • Michael blocking the copier?  Hilarious.
  • Corporate okaying the discounted paper?  Hilarious.
  • Michael taking the coffee pot from the kitchen?  Hilarious.
  • Michael telling her at dinner that he doesn’t want his “family” to think their jobs are based on performance? Hilarious.

Great episode but where was our Pam?

Grey’s

Whew, I felt like Grey’s hit their stride and thank goodness it only took two weeks instead of like 13 episodes like last season.  There were really only two scenes though that I must point out.

  • Meredith and Derek deciding at the end to let Izzie and Alex stay.  Her asking Derek if he still loved her.  And he does.  And they hugged.  I don’t know what better name to call him than his given McDreamy.
  • Alex’s “Hello.”  That is Shonda Rhimes’ at her best writing (placement not really the creativity or lack thereof of “hello” LOL) and Justin Chambers’ at his best acting.  Loved. it.

Thursday night TV

September 26, 2008 by Amy 9 Comments

OK, so I have to comment a bit on TV last night.  I let Grey’s have priority and watched that first and then The Office.  Well, clearly, I was mistaken and should have done it the other way.

The Office

  • Jammy Jam!  They got engaged!  I honestly was shocked.  Did. not. expect their last minute lunch date to turn into THAT.  It was just lovely.  As much as gas station proposals can be lovely.
  • I actually felt bad for Andy.  That whole I’d marry you in a monsoon thing…I was like, aw, he really loves her.
  • I could have sworn that Michael was going to make them all strip to make it look like they lost a bunch of weight.
  • Dwight?  Funny but ewwww…what is she thinking?
  • The 212 thing?  I’m so doing that when I go to New York next week…here I come 2 1 2.
  • Ryan and Kelly? I was so proud of her for dissing Ryan but then see she is still in crazy love with him and acting childish.
  • The cleansing thing was HILARIOUS to Heather and I since we were right in the middle of it this week.
  • The cheesecake kick?  Fabulous.
  • Have I ever mentioned I LOVE JIM!

Grey’s

  • That episode was just ok.  I think it had too much about the medical and not enough of the drama.
  • I thought Meredith was over all this whininess.  I wanted some closet action!
  • Not a fan of Callie and Erica AT ALL but I’m glad they aren’t jumping right into it.  Glad they are like what just happened?
  • What was with Alex making out with a random girl with no shirt on staring at Izzie.  That was just weird.
  • And I actually didn’t like the dream with Denny.  Yes,  I miss Denny but the scene just, I don’t know, came out of nowhere.
  • The icicle not melting is driving me BANANAS!
  • I do like Major Hottie and Cristina.  Best thing going on in the ep.

Fall TV Schedule

September 11, 2008 by Amy 14 Comments

My schedule, as if already not full enough, is getting ready to become busier because drumroll, the fall TV season is starting.  Important stuff, people.  Here’s what my nights will look like:

Sunday

  • Desperate Housewives

Monday

  • One Tree Hill
  • Gossip Girl
  • Dancing with the Stars *probably DVR and watch later
  • The Hills * usually watch online later

Tuesday

  • 90210
  • Privileged
  • House *probably will DVR and watch immediately following Privileged.  of course, that is the one show that Scott and I both love so Privileged might have to take a back seat

Wednesday

  • Private Practice

Thursday

  • Grey’s Anatomy
  • The Office *will have to DVR because of the time but will probably watch it immediately following Grey’s. LOST
  • LOST * forgot this one at first

Other shows to be added in as they premiere: The Bachelor and American Idol.  I WOULD watch Survivor, Biggest Loser, Fringe, and Prison Break IF I could fit in.

Privileged and 90210 are new to my schedule this year.  Both of them have had strong starts and don’t anticipate them dropping from my radar.  I’m all for the teen dramas LOL.

I fell off the wagon watching Gossip Girl at the end of last year with all the One Tree Hill stuff going on.  I caught up I think on 6 episodes just today and WOW it has gotten really good.  Too bad I have a friend that has a Gossip Girl blog because I’d be ALL over that.

And while I’m at it, I have to recommend surfthechannel.com to catch up on any shows that you didn’t DVR.  What shows are you watching this fall?

Bachelorette Top 3

June 30, 2008 by Amy 2 Comments

I really ruined it for myself tonight. I turned on the tv right after 9 to watch the show not knowing it was on at 8 and see Jeremy sitting in the group of guys for the Men Tell All show. I was like WAIT the top 2 do not go on that show and did I miss a week?? I went through my whole schedule in my head trying to figure out how I missed a Monday. Then I realized it was on just before and I TOTALLY JUST RUINED THE TOP 3. Anyway, I sat through the thing anyway because at that point I just had to figure out how Jeremy was ousted.

Jeremy completely clammed up on their date and I think she finally realized what I thought…that their connection was more about their parents than themselves.

Jason’s date was AWESOME.  In fact, that was probably one of my favorite fantasy dates ever.  Jason completely opened up.  He wanted exactly the same thing as her…to just have fun.  And they really did.  And it didn’t seem forced at all.  They’re so cute together and they both seem so honest and open with one another.  It was really great.

As for Jesse…I really, really like Jesse.  I love how he feels about her and how he opened up to her and had a serious conversation with her.  I like how he still managed to make her laugh.  I love how he compliments her all the time.  I just love Jesse.  He’s just a really cool guy.  I think in the end though they’re going to have logistically problems. I don’t think it’s fair for him to have to leave snowboarding.  I realize he can’t do that his whole life but it seems he’s giving up too much just to make it work.

I was suprised to see Jeremy go and I felt so bad for the guy.  I was so scared when he got out of that limo! I thought he was going to walk back to DeAnna and say something!

I’m happy with the final two and I really, really hope she picks Jason.
