I thought the finale was fantastic tonight. Mom was underwhelmed by DC. I thought he did great but I really think Archey pulled through tonight. I thought I’d be a little bit bored when he sang Imagine again but WOW he was perfect. I actually preferred DC’s coronation song. It’s actually something I wouldn’t mind listening to another few times. Archey’s on the other hand was a bit boring although he sang it well. I think I have to give the night to Archey though. If he wins, I hope someone has a mop nearby because he is going to be a puddle on the floor!

American Idol Tour Tickets
So Heather and I are officially going to the concert! I just got an email for Pre-Sale tickets and I jumped on it. Apparently they were on sale since 10am this morning so I didn’t get the best seats, but here is where we are sitting in the Bobcats Arena…
We went two years ago when Chris was there but skipped last year. I’m no huge fan of anyone this year but Heather is pretty into David Cook and I wouldn’t mind seeing it either so we’re set!
The David Finale
Syesha leaving was no surprise but wow, it really hit me, we have an all male finale. AND two finalist whom I think will BOTH do well in the real world. I’m proud of voters for the final two–I only voted a handful of times a few week ago.
It’s hard to pick between the two though because they are SO different. I really fell in love with David Archuleta in tonight’s montage of his homecoming. He’s just so humble and sweet. I’m just afraid the kid might melt into the floor if he actually wins. He doesn’t handle all the hype well yet! I still think I want Cook to win though. It’d be a nice change to see a male winner do really, really well.
A few TV notes
Another Monday night filled with TV last night except I skipped most of Dancing with the Stars. I’m just not attached to any of the dancers. However, for my others..
- One Tree Hill was a fantastic episode. Next week is the season finale and it should be great. Everyone is buzzing about the “I Hate You” from Lucas. It was scathing, I tell you.
- The Bachelor…I’m not surprised at all at the outcome. I even told Dad Sunday night he would pick her. He’s been smitten with her for awhile. But honestly I’m not sure if it will last. He seems taken with the fact she’s a Hollywood actress and she’s seems taken with the fact that someone just loves her back. Maybe it will be enough but I doubt it.
- House – That was one weird episode. But House saying “I used to drive home after I drank but some mothers got Ma-duh-duh” had both Scott and laughing out loud. Shocking to see Amber was in the bus. The last 5 minutes provided some great drama as it unfolded.
- The Hills – O.M.G. I CAN NOT believe Heidi went with Spencer. I mean, come on, woman. Where are your senses? I kept wondering how they got back together in the present and if this is it, that is awful! He came to Vegas and MORTIFIED her and probably cost her her job or at least any promotion she wanted and then she LEFT HER BOSS HANGING. No word or anything. That was just bad. Just bad. Spencer is the biggest jerk evah.
Idols’ Pet Peeves
Wow, I needed this laugh. Great seeing David Cook having a great time. I think I was surprised.

Um, can we just get rid of round 1 and pretend it never happened? I didn’t really like anyone’s song.
And I MUST comment on Paula’s commenting. Oh my, what a mess-up. She seemed out in la-la land. Did they not discuss what was expected of them? Is she even watching the show? I thought you sang twice already?? That woman is something, I tell ya.
As for the last round..
Jason – I love me some Jason Castro. I will absolutely love his album. I could listen to him forever. But tonight was just ok. I think he’s in real danger tonight.
David Cook – I really liked this song. I think he’s good at picking songs that will make the ladies swoon.
David A – Hm, he’s getting a little boring to me. He’s a great singer for sure. No doubt. But I’m thinking his age his hindering him at this point. He’s still not doing well at taking compliments. He seems so nervous he’s about to cry.
Brooke – I liked this second performance. Do I think the vocals themselves were fantastic? No, but I saw more of a happy Brooke tonight and although her first song was way too low for her and choppy and just sort of weird to me, it was good to at least see her not about to break down in tears. I like happy, fidgety brook over teary-eyed fidgety Brooke. I don’t know, I just think Brooke came out fighting tonight.
Syesha – I’ve been saying this for weeks. She’s boring to me. But tonight she wasn’t boring. Tonight she was old-fashioned to me. I just don’t see her as the American Idol.
Best tonight by far was David Cook.
I think Syesha might go.

I really don’t want to post about tonight for some reason. Really, I’m not a big Broadway guru and I don’t think I really have the appreciation for these songs like I should. I did see Cats though just to redeem myself a little.
Syesha – After her practice session I kept waiting for something funky and it all came out sexy. And I didn’t care for it. Yes, we all know Syesha can sing but once again, I don’t think she’s pop star quality. Maybe those who appreciate Broadway more than I could appreciate her performance.
Jason – Poor Jason. Like me, he was clueless. And unfortunately it showed throughout his performance. I however didn’t hate his song. Although he was nervous I think he was trying to show that emotional connection. I think if no one had every heard that song they’d love it sung the way he did it.
Brooke – Wow. That took some guts to stop the band on a LIVE show. I think it was ok but it just makes me laugh thinking of the time my mom had our local TV show in to film a commercial of her for her business and she messed up and told the guy to cut the scene. I think Heather said they all kind of froze and were like, uh, you can’t do that. Anyway, I don’t think vocally Brooke was good but I really think she connected emotionally.
David A – It was great seeing him turn something more modern and I really liked it. Again, don’t think I would buy a rhey-chord (as Simon would say) with that on it but he sounded good.
Carly – She owned the stage tonight and I think she did fabulously. Probably my favorite of hers.
David – I LOVED this. He’s definitely the one to beat.
I think Brooke and Jason are in trouble this week and I’m going to have to go with Brooke because she was in the bottom 3 last week.

Random TV notes from last night
Just a few on DWTS, The Hills, One Tree Hill and the Bachelor…
- What is with Shannon and Derek on DWTS…dating??? Last time we saw something like that beach scene was with Mario and we know how that turned out.
- Lauren needs to get over this whole Heidi thing. I mean it’s one thing to be mad at someone but it’s another to hold a grudge against her for years and act like a 15 year old. It’s really getting annoying.
- Spencer is still a jerk.
- Justin Bobby is on the right track. Wow, like a different person. His showering comment was really funny.
- OTH, well, you can read about it over here. It was a so-so episode.
- The fake parents thing was very awkward to watch but really funny. She really took a risk doing that. I thought he may think she was wacko but he seemed to like it as Amanda stayed another week. I’m thinking the frontrunner is Shayne but I’m really surprised the promos show him proposing to someone. I don’t see him that close to any of them.
