The Hills November 26, 2007

November 26, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Wow, that was a fantabulous episode. Let’s hit the highlights

  • Audrina and Justin Bobby – First off, why does Justin Bobby have to look so bad all the time? And I can’t believe how he was acting at the bar. Kissing her and then groping her coming out. And THEN laughing at Audrina. Apparently the alcohol and drugs didn’t cloud his brain too much to sweet talk Audrina though. He was pretty good at that. And she fell for it. I could not believe she got in that car with him. She should have left his butt there. But I was quite proud she held her ground the next day and broke it off with him. Finally. I can’t believe he had the nerve to deny anything happened. But then again, maybe he truly doesn’t remember what happened. Although let’s remark on the fact that Justin Bobby had cleaned and sobered himself up for this last meeting and actually looked dare I say quite rugged and handsome. Still. I’m glad it’s over. Finito.
  • Spencer’s sister – I don’t like Stephanie just about as much as I don’t like Spencer. You can tell they were cut from the same cloth. Lauren and Brody handled her confrontation well and made Stephanie and Roxy look stupid. They had to tuck their tails and run from that one.
  • Heidi and Spencer – I think Heidi is finally seeing the light with Spencer. His sister didn’t help her brother in that regard. In fact, don’t you think Spencer and Stephanie should just get married?? They seem to agree on everything.

As for scenes for next week, they look just as great if not better than this week. I may just get my wish and not only have Justin Bobby gone but also have Heidi dump Spencer for good. I can’t believe she actually yelled at Spencer. I didn’t think it was in Heidi. I’ll be surprised if she doesn’t give into his apologies once again but I feel like she’s at least starting to see he’s not the be all end all.

Dancing with the Stars Finale

November 26, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I voted for Helio all 5 times.

It almost seemed like they all forgot to dance tonight. I was very disappointed with the dancing tonight. I thought the dancing last week was much better. It seems they were much too concentrated on those lifts than dancing. Do you think I could say “dancing” one more time?

That doll thing was extremely weird. Mel B’s freestyle was disjointed. Helio freestyle was good but not my favorite freestyle ever.

Up until tonight I couldn’t decide between Mel B. and Helio but it seems after tonight, Helio pulled through for me.

Brad The Bachelor After “After the Rose”

November 21, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

OK, so I know The Bachelor is over, over, over.  But of course everywhere is buzzing about what happened this week.  I’ve decided to post my official report on what I think happened.

First off, Jenni and many others seem to think it was a tie.  Just pick between the two.   Why couldn’t you pick?  Well, I think he did pick.  He picked DeAnna.  Jenni was the runner up.  He asked DeAnna’s father to come to town.  If we was going to propose to anyone, it was going to be DeAnna.

Secondly, I’m standing by my first opinion to say I kind of respect the guy.  I also pity him.  I honestly don’t think he was being misleading or was trying to dupe these girls into sleeping with him.  I think he was honest when he told DeAnna he could see himself with her for the rest of his life and that she was perfect. I think Brad’s expectations and view of love is all screwed up but based on that he made the best decision he could.  Although I DON’T AGREE WITH HIS DECISION.

This is why…

I believe Brad walked into this experience expecting at the end of 6 weeks to be totally in love, 100% sure that he could propose and marry the girl he met.  I think if the show has any fault it is the pressure and expectation for an engagement.  Except for Trista and Ryan of course ;).  And simply the expectations is where Brad messed up.  If I think back to 6 weeks into dating my husband thirteen years ago and I was given the choice either get engaged and married or walk away, I would have with no doubt walked away.  And just for the record, my mother and I were talking about this and she agreed…six weeks into dating my dad 30 some years ago, she didn’t know either.  At that point, you know you like person, you could imagine yourself with them for the rest of your life, but you don’t know 100% sure that you could marry the person.  Of course there are exceptions!  But in most cases, six weeks into dating anyone, you can’t expect to know for sure.  But that doesn’t mean you can’t fall into love after that.  Love isn’t about butterflies and feelings you get at first.  Love is about finding someone you really like being around and finding someone you could spend the rest of your life and yes maybe there are butterflies but love is built on that and is so much more than a feeling six weeks after you meet someone.

I think Brad was a little naive in that.  I really think he thought he would know without a doubt after 6 weeks and he felt like by keeping her, he was leading her on.

I feel so bad for DeAnna.  She gets it. She knows she could spend the rest of her life with him and was willing to work towards a true relationship with him and he just left her.  I don’t think she realizes his line of thinking and is so hurt can’t think through it all.

Brad needs some counseling I think.  Seriously.  He needs to see what true love is made of and give DeAnna a chance.  He says he doesn’t know the formula for love and that’s obvious.  Let’s just hope if he gets it straightened out, DeAnna will give him another chance.

One last point I want to make about the question why did he buy a ring and why did he invite her father?  If he was just playing with DeAnna, that would have been really hurtful and manipulative of him to do.  But in his line of thinking that I’m theorizing, I think he really wanted it to work.  I think he could see that life with her.  But with the wrong expectations, I think he wanted it to be 100% and he was waiting until the very last minute to look her in her eyes and see if he could muster it to 100% and he couldn’t.  AND THAT’S FINE.  You don’t have to know at 6 weeks.  BUT he had that expectation that he should know.  And he didn’t.  So he did take the high road and let her go.  Listen, I’m not saying it was the right thing to do but with his wrong expectations, it was the right thing to do.

The Bachelor After the Rose November 20, 2007

November 21, 2007 by Amy 5 Comments

Man, that was a great After the Rose.

Trista and Ryan! I love those two!! Byron and Mary! So glad they are both doing well. The stats for this show aren’t great but good to see some of them have a chance.

I really liked Jenni even more after this show. She obviously had been genuine on the show. She completely restated what I did–and everyone else–that they should have dated instead of completely said goodbye. In another vein, my heart goes out to Jenni’s family with the passing of her grandmother. That must have been hard watching the video of her.

Poor DeAnna (she looks great tonight!). She wonders why they couldn’t date either. She is obviously hurt, sad and mad all together.

Man, Brad was put through the fire tonight. Chris or the girls didn’t let him off the hook. I think this might be the first time one of the bachelors was actually booed when he came out.

I don’t think his answer was very clear on why he didn’t at least date DeAnna. And the more I listen to him, the more I think he had imposed the “engagement or nothing” rule on himself. Apparently he thought 6 weeks of surreal dating should have shown him true love. I don’t know, I guess if he had a gut feeling she wasn’t the one, I have to respect him for that. But I’m not sure if it was a gut feeling that made him stop or he was looking for butterflies that maybe are too idyllic.

I think for me walking away, I think for the most part I respect the guy. I think he was genuine in saying he felt like he was taking the high road. Idealistic or not he felt in his heart he didn’t have what he wanted and he walked away instead of leading her on for the sake of the show or her feelings.

But I wanted him so badly to ask her for a second chance. And I feel so bad for DeAnna. For him to say no again and then to say I’ll miss you more than you know as his last words. She’s got to be hurting.

I agree with the girl in the crowd..THIS was the most dramatic Bachelor moment ever.

The Bachelor Finale November 19, 2007

November 20, 2007 by Amy 8 Comments

*Spoiler*

Well, I was right in as much as he picked DeAnna over Jenni.  Never guessed that he didn’t pick either of them.  And where’s the promise ring?  Why does he have to say good-bye?  He obviously has feelings for her and from the looks of the After the Rose show, she still looks torn up about it.  Why not give it another whirl?  Maybe an engagement tomorrow night??

I don’t know, it feels very unsatisfying that the deal was not done and I watched a whole season for that.  I do have to give the man some credit though for not committing to something he wasn’t 100% sure on.

Grey’s Anatomy November 15, 2007

November 16, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

This wasn’t a fantastic episode for me but it was ok.  A few highlights:

  • Didn’t like the way Bailey acted through the episode but I guess a lot of us have been there.  Or I have.  I could relate to her speech at the end.
  • I liked the Mer/Der hand holding.
  • I liked Lexie’s speech to Meredith at the end.  Mer was out of line with her comment.
  • Glad it looks like Gizzie has ended.
  • I liked the girl in the OR with McDreamy. I thought it might have been Lexie at the time.  I like her comment though that she had been in 38 surgeries with him and he had just noticed her.  I’ve felt like that a lot.  Invisible to people.   More so as a teenager than now.
  • Christina was hilarious not-running to the surgery.
  • And I loved her answer to Mer’s question about not skipping any class.  "No, never, not once."  Something like that.  I never did skip a class in school or college either.
  • I liked Callie’s explanation to the girl about her demotion. I have never aspired to be a manager just because I like to program so much and don’t want to manage people programming.
  • I liked the overall theme of the show about how you never really grow up.  Definitely could relate to the theme although I think the show itself could have been better.  It seems to me the writing this year has been less intent on moving the stories forward.  Like Chief acting like a wife just to make it funny and Bailey’s speech to McDreamy seemed less about the fact that they would actually have that conversation than the writers just wanting to work in that conversation.  I don’t know, maybe I’m way off base.

The Bachelor November 12, 2007

November 13, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

That was the most boring women tell all show.  No major drama girls.  Just ones that can’t tell the difference between twins and can’t take a hint on the friend card.

However the last few minutes may have been worth my time.

Jenny dancing with her iPod was funny but what was better were the previews for next week…in my very experienced Bachelor opinion, I think I’m going to stick with my prediction from the end of last week and go with DeAnna.  The whole “I feel great when I’m with you” to Jenny can easily be followed up with “but I don’t think you’re THE ONE.”

As for DeAnna, saying “You told me you thought marriage was forever and I totally agree with you” could be followed with “and I want to spend it with you.”  It could also be followed up with “and I want to make sure I get it right and it’s not with you.” But that seems a little harsh.

Also, Bettina and Sheena who were there the longest both picked DeAnna which makes sense because she didn’t come on strong until the end.  So.  Unless the parent visit changes my mind, I’m still going with DeAnna.

The Hills November 12, 2007

November 12, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Blogging as I watch…

"We’ll handle the situation accordingly."  I love when Whitney says things like that.  I think because I’d say something like that.  Boy this is going to be a GREAT drama-show.

JT!

OK, that was weird.  Same exact comment by Lauren and Heidi about it being the first event not working.

What was with Justin Bobby’s boots?  Yuck.

I do not like dreds.

LOL after JB’s burp.  That look on his face was great.

What. does. Audrina. see. in. him?

Oooo, they see each other.

Oooo, Lauren completely snubs her.

Wow.  What a backbone.  I could never do that.

So, uh yeah, I have to work with Sean Kingston today too.  Kayne West also.  Oh, and a little coffee in the afternoon with Alicia Keys.  Cause my job is cool like that.

I love that Audrina’s coworker (what is her name?) won’t let her call Justin Bobby.

Spencer!  Back her up!!!  Gosh that boy gets on my nerves.

Commercial, go away, I want to see the talk!

Flowers?  Seriously?  "You are very clean…did a maid come??" Seriously?  She’s starting off with that?

"This is the person you want to marry for the rest of your life?"   THAT’S WHAT I’VE BEEN SAYING.

"I want to forgive you and I want to forget you."  Wow.  That was harsh.  Really harsh.  Heidi set herself up for that but wow.

Previews:

Premarital counseling! Yes!

Cancelled wedding?!  Yes!!!
