So much for my list

November 29, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I had a long list of things to do this evening.

  1. Do laundry
  2. Pay bills
  3. Grocery shopping
  4. Fill in rebates
  5. Exchange jacket at Old Navy
  6. Fill out work forms
  7. Take movies back to Blockbuster

I only partially got #1 done and got #2, 4 and 5 done.  Want to know why?

I may have a kidney stone and I spent the evening at the doctor.

Yep.

We went to Mom’s to eat and drop the girls off to spend the night and a dull pain started in my lower back.  I started to feel tired and weird.  I knew something wasn’t right.  So we took off for the emergency care center.  He did an x-ray and urine and blood tests.  He said it’s not an infection but I do have blood in my urine.  He believes it might be a kidney stone and sent me home with narcotics and a strainer.  One other possibility is stool is causing pain passing through.  For once I’m hoping I have gas.

Great day

November 28, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Today turned out to be a great day.  My trip into the office went well.  Good (and lots) of food, good conversations, meeting with a rep from my new consulting company, oh and I think I worked a little in there somewhere.  I know it’s weird, but going into the office is somewhat a treat for me.  I get to feel like a working woman instead of SAHM/WAHM and I get uninterrupted lunches.  And I get to actually see all my coworkers who usually keep me entertained.  And I get to actually work uninterrupted and feel accomplished.  And while I don’t miss going in every day, I do actually like going in from time to time.

So I stopped by the house on the way home to pick up Scott and head to the church.

The band was crippled with no lead guitar and no drummer but somehow we got through 3 songs.  But it was great to see a lot of faces tonight that haven’t been there in quite some time.  And the movie we played as a last minute backup actually turned out really well.  It felt good to have a “normal” night and it felt sort of like coming home.  I got really pumped tonight for the new youth pastor coming and hope we can find the momentum we had at one time.  I’m trying to keep an open mind about that and know that it may never be exactly the same.  Good can still be good even if it’s a different good.

So now I’m home.  Just watched Gossip Girl since Private Practice isn’t on.  Lexi had a long nap today so she’s not asleep yet.  So we’re just hanging out.  The TV’s on.  The Christmas tree is lit up right in front me.  I’m curled up on the recliner with a laptop.  A good ending to a great day.

Another day away

November 28, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

So I’m headed to the office in the morning.  I’ll be gone all day and that means no access to this site once again.  Then tomorrow evening is band practice and youth group so tomorrow will probably be a quiet day around here.

Terrific Tuesday

November 27, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Well, I don’t know if today will be terrific but I’m feeling better today.  Scott tossed and turned all night but ended up going to work today.  He said he’s not feeling great but it takes a lot for him to miss work so he’s out there.  Emma is at home with me this morning.  Her class went to the tree farm and I didn’t plan for us to go.  So she’s painting and playing around me now.  She says it’s going to be a great day today because today’s the day she gets to pick up  her pottery and it’s the DWTS finale.

I’m actually hoping Scott gets to feeling better for the very selfish reason that I have plans to go to the movies to see August Rush with S, M, J and who knows who else tonight.  I love going to the movies but don’t get to go too often and I love Keri Russell so it should be a great night.  House and the DWTS finale will just have to be watched on TIVO.  After the dancing last night, I’m not quite as psyched about watching who wins.

Feeling better but not great

November 26, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

This evening Scott came home and took over while I crashed in bed.  He went and got me some soup and Ginger Ale and it helped to get some food in me.  By this afternoon, I could barely walk around.  Of course right around the time the kids went to bed, I started to feel better.  Wink, wink, right?  No really, I’m still not feeling great.  I still have a bit of headache, my stomach isn’t great and I get whoozy when I walk around but it’s a lot better than it was.

As for Scott, right about the time I started feeling better, he started feeling really bad.  He was stuck on the couch until he crawled back to bed and has been there since.  He even called his supervisor and said he might not be in tomorrow if he comes down with what I had.  So lovely, the sickies finally hit the house.  But let’s just pray the kids don’t get it because that I can not handle.  I’ll take another round before I have to clean up that from someone else.

Another Bad Monday

November 26, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

What is with bad Mondays?  Today is really bad though. I caught FIL’s stomach virus but seemed to have tamed it by lunchtime with some meds.  However, I’ve only eaten some toast and I’m hungry, weak and now I have a headache on top of my stomach ache.  The girls are doing ok since I’m letting them watch a lot of TV and I hand fed both of them their lunch just so they wouldn’t be whiny because of hunger the rest of the afternoon.  Work is not good though.  Another production issue today that is causing me grief.  Today is the type of day that makes me want to quit work.

In a ray of hope, I got all the proposals today from the consulting companies and it looks favorable for me.  Just need to choose which one.

Sunday Scripture

November 24, 2007 by Amy 3 Comments

Sunday-Scripture

My scripture this week is Matthew 1:18-25

18This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. 19Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

20But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."

22All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"—which means, "God with us."

24When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

I’m in such the Christmas spirit this year and now that Thanksgiving is over, I have no reason not to be.  But let us never forget what Christmas is for!

So how about you? To participate, simply post a verse, a set of verses or even just a reference to a verse that means something to you now or maybe even in the past.  Explain why it’s important or don’t. It’s up to you.  Go now and post and then come back. Post your name and then a direct link to you blog entry. If you don’t have a blog, feel free to leave yours in the comments. Here is the code for the graphic above.
