Sunday Scripture

December 16, 2007 by Amy 1 Comment

Sorry this is a bit late.  Busy weekend!  My scripture this week is actually some lyrics to the chorus of a song.  We had our choir cantata today and there was on old song sung that I still love the words to.

HE KNEW ME, YET HE LOVED ME
HE WHOSE GLORY MAKES THE HEAVENS SHINE
SO UNWORTHY OF SUCH MERCY
YET WHEN HE WAS ON THE CROSS
I WAS ON HIS MIND.

So how about you? To participate, simply post a verse, a set of verses or even just a reference to a verse that means something to you now or maybe even in the past. Explain why it’s important or don’t. It’s up to you. Go now and post and then come back. Post your name and then a direct link to you blog entry. If you don’t have a blog, feel free to leave yours in the comments. Here is the code for the graphic above.

I Heart Chris Daughtry!

December 16, 2007 by Amy 2 Comments

If you haven’t been reading long you may not know my addiction to love of Chris Daughtry.  It literally started when I first saw him on American Idol.  Read this post and see.  Don’t you love how I picked the top 5 from the very beginning?  I digress.  I saw him in concert back in the spring and loved it.

But tonight was awesome.

Heather and I dropped the girls off at MIL’s since Scott is working tonight. We stopped in at Ruby Tuesday’s and split their New Orleans fish and Sirloin.  Yum.  Started the night right.  I was really worried about parking and lines on nearby roads because their known to back up.  Apparently this wasn’t causing too much of a raucous because there were no lines and when we got in the parking lot, we were literally a few parking spots away from being right at the building.  We walked right in and found our seats 30 minutes early.  The place was almost packed.  Heather had heard it was not sold out and indeed no one sat in the two seats at the end of our row to our right.

The concert opened with two acts.  One was You Are, I Am.  They were ok.  Next up was an AWESOME Canadian band called The Midway State.  I think they may be better in person but they were so cool to listen to.  Very sweet lyrics to their rock songs.  The lead singer/piano player Nathan has this huge afro but the boy can play and sing.  I highly recommend you check them out.

So on to my camera story.  The tickets said no cameras but come on.  Most places let you get away with it.  There were these ladies standing in the aisles helping people to their seats.  The one near us looked like a mean school teacher according to Heather.  I agreed.  I was scared to take my camera out.  So I waited until the lights went out.  I took a few (Heather’s says lots) pictures with my flash and this woman almost comes running at me with her flashlight and says, "You can not take any more pictures or you will be thrown out!"  Yikes, yes, ma’am.  And then I see the same woman actually go tell a girl to put her cell phone up and she can not take any pictures.  It was awful.  As you can see below though, I eventually snuck the camera out with no flash and took some pictures.

So as for Chris’s performance, the Greensboro concert paled in comparison.  Obviously the sound and lighting was better because we were inside.  But it was extra good because the place he played at was pretty small.  And we were on row V so it wasn’t too far back.  He basically sang his entire album plus did some Motley Crue, John Lennon and other covers.  They were really cool.  He also sang a song he just wrote in Australia.  It was a ballad. We had a hard time understanding what he was saying but he sounded good.

I just love that Chris’s voice is so real.  What you hear on the album is what you get in person.  If not better.  He also tries to switch up a few places and make it sound a little better and it sounds cool.  The crowd was screaming the whole time. We were on our feet the whole time.  And then at the end Heather says, "I think he just said to come down front."  I basically threw my camera on my purse, left everything and pushed Heather out the aisle to run down.  I was then within four feet or so of the stage.  At the end he shook the crowd’s hands.  I tried so hard to get close enough but I was about a foot short of getting to him.  Heather apparently was a bit sneakier because she kept moving down the stage with him, threw herself over the crowd and got to shake his hand!!  Lucky girl.

But that was basically it.  He went off-stage after that never to return.  My throat hurts from screaming and our choir cantata is in the morning.  Tonight was awesome.  Now enjoy the few pictures I got.  Also check my flickr account soon.  I’ll put some I took out there too.

Oh, and be sure to scope out the drummer in the pictures :).

Do nothing night

December 14, 2007 by Amy 2 Comments

As planned, we basically did nothing this evening.  We went to Mom’s housewarming thingy at lunch where we were able to get our Christmas pictures taken too.  Emma wanted to stay there but Lexi wanted to come home.  I guess she was partied out from the week because she fell asleep and took a nap for most of the afternoon.  When she got up and Scott left for work, Lexi and I stopped at Walgreens to get our Christmas cards – they turned out great – and then went to Mom’s and hung out there the whole evening.  The girls alternated between playing, eating and watching movies.  I ate and worked on my other site.

I’m still spending quite a bit of time on it while I get stuff up to date.  I got all set up on adwords today since I got $50 with my bluehost account.  And can I just take a moment to say I see why Jaynee keeps saying how great it is.  I had an issue with my email account and was able to chat with a tech support guy within minutes and he was able to help me out right away.  Awesome!  And the free adwords stuff was very cool too.  I saw a difference almost immediately.

Anyway, certainly don’t want to make this blog all about that blog but it is taking a lot of my time right now.

Tomorrow morning we’ll be spending two hours at choir practice and then tomorrow night is the big DAUGHTRY night!  Woo Hoo!  With such a busy week I’ve hardly been able to get excited about it but tomorrow night at this time I’ll be seeing Chris with my own eyes.  Yay!!!

Christmas Card Pictures

December 14, 2007 by Amy 2 Comments

I don’t want to post the pictures I’m using for the card because some people reading this won’t be very surprised but here’s a few pictures we took at the same time today that are pretty cute.

Christmas Card Deal

December 14, 2007 by Amy 1 Comment

Finally.  We got our Christmas card pictures.  Today at Mom’s housewarming party Mom got a picture of the four of us decent enough for our cards.  Scott got a really cute picture of the girls in front of the tree before we left.  I went straight to walgreens.com when we got home and put it on a multi-photo 4×8 card and ordered a set for only $14.98.  But guess what?  I had a coupon code.. SAVE$5 so I got it for $9.99.  Not sure if 20 in a set would be enough, I went ahead and ordered two sets but they only charge you an extra $5 for another set so I got two sets for $14.98.   And guess what else?  I can pick them in FIVE HOURS at my Walgreens down the street.

"THAT WAS EASY!"

*Update…twenty minutes later and I got an email saying they are ready for pickup.  Wow.

I’m starting to zone out

December 13, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

This busy week is catching up on me.  Normally at 10:39 I’m just excited I have another hour and a half or so of Internet alone time.  Wow, that sounded creepy.  Tonight though I’m literally having to hold my eyebrows up to type this.

Tonight’s "holiday function" was dinner at our house with J&W and D&D.  Apparently W did not communicate at all with J about coming to our house so while he had planned to come and communicated that back to us, he sorta forgot to tell her.  So she had other plans she couldn’t break.  So J&W didn’t come :(.  But we still had a very nice dinner.  I managed to whip up and pretty good dinner of roast beef, baked potatoes, cheesy broccoli and cauliflower, salad and bread.  D brought some brownies to top it off.  Yum.my.  The girls had a great time playing as usual.  We had to drag them away from playing to eat.  Presents were exchanged and we got a very, very pretty and comfy throw and gift card to Blockbuster.

Our busyness is not ending for a few days though.  Tomorrow for lunch we have to go to my mom’s open house/housewarming thing.  She’s having her pastor dedicate it and such.  Saturday morning is choir practice and that evening is the Daughtry concert!  Yay!  Maybe I’ll get a tiny break tomorrow evening before I totally want to crash Sunday afternoon after our choir cantata.

Pretend Gift Basket

December 13, 2007 by Amy 7 Comments

Amanda is having a giveaway and you have to talk about theme baskets.  Well.  I am not a theme gift basket giver type person and I can’t remember a gift basket ever being given to me so I’m going to go off on a random tangent of my own.  Since this is all pretend, I’ve decided to create the Ultimate Men of TV Gift Basket.  This type of basket would be given to, if not yourself, you’re favorite girlfriend.  To truly appreciate they have to be a TV fangirl.  Just ask Allison or maybe even my sister Heather what that is.

image Since I AM an owner of One Tree Hill site, first up has to be Lucas played by Chad Michael Murray from One Tree Hill.  Lucas is of course a cutie.  In the tall and lanky type of way.  He would be a great present because hey, he’ll save you in a school shooting and I bet he’ll write poems for you.  Maybe even a book.  And the look.  Oh, he could give you squinty eyed looks that would melt you.

image Next up is Dan Humphrey from Gossip Girl.  Because he’s got that boy next door look.  He’s cute even when he’s shy and embarrassed.  He’ll save up every penny he can find to take you wherever you might want to go on a date but he seems to like simple dates like movies and has connections to an art gallery. Plus, he punches people that hurt his sister..that has to say something about his bravery and honor.

image McDreamy is a must for a Men of TV gift basket.  He’s McDreamy!  But not only is he dreamy, the man is a doctor.  He could fix your brain in a jiffy, you know, if it ever needed fixed.  He may need a little help in the housing arrangement department.  But hey, can we talk about how fun those office Christmas parties would be?  Except of course if you’re the Addison and not the Meredith.

image And is it possible to add McDreamy to the basket without adding McSteamy?  Can we just say "towel"?  Will that be enough as to why he needs to be in the basket?  Well, that and he’s a PLASTIC SURGEON.  That would come quite in handy down the road when even if you don’t need surgery now, those droopy eyelids and saggy neckline will eventually haunt us all.

image How about adding in some Mike Delfino?  He may have a drug problem at the moment but he’ll certainly work to death for any children you may have with him.  He can get manipulative, deceptive and violent if needed and hey, he can fix any and all plumbing problems you may have! This Toronto plumbing contractor is also one of the best plumbers I´ve ever had help me around the house.

image We could all use some Jim because I LOVE JIM!  Jim…ahhh…he’s cute in the tall and Gap kind of way.  He’s smart and witty.  You would have tons of fun playing jokes on people and yet be able to at the end of the day doing something romantic like sit on a rooftop with candles.  And I bet if you are a really lucky woman you’d get all the copy paper you needed.

image Oh boy, this basket is getting very full.  I’ll stop here and let the last one be some good eye candy…Shemar Moore of "Young and the Restless" and "Criminal Minds".  Yep, he’s just there to look pretty.

Well I guess doing a theme basket isn’t nearly as hard as I thought.  In fact, I could do several of these.  Amanda, I hope this counts!  I’m officially giving you one of these baskets and hope you enjoy!
