Me, me, me

December 2, 2007 by Amy 9 Comments

I want to replace the picture on my site with one of these headshots but can’t decide.  If any of you have an opinion, leave a comment and pick. Yes, this is a big waste of time and selfish and vain and retarded that I have 8 pictures of me.  But help me pick anyway.  I’m looking for something that looks very me.  Of course they all look like me because they are me but I mean I want something that in just a flash, someone knows what kind of person writes here.

August Rush Soundtrack

December 1, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I bought the soundtrack to August Rush today after seeing the movie on Tuesday and have been listening to it while I clean.  It is an absolutely gorgeous soundtrack.  It opens up as the movie does with the little boy talking and man, that put me right back to the theater and made me want to go see it again!

For those that have seen the movie, you’ll appreciate the songs Louis sang in the club, the solos Evan/August played in the parks, the duet Louis and Evan/August did in the park, August’s Rhapsody and the song from the church with the little girl’s solo.  The other songs are good, but those are the ones that stood out to me.

If you haven’t seen the movie, you’ll still appreciate two of my favorite songs from the soundtrack.  The first is "This Time" that Jonathan Rhys Meyers sings in the movie and on the soundtrack.  I knew I liked it in the theater but I appreciate it even more after reading the lyrics.  The other one I think worthy of buying is a 7:49 song called August’s Rhapsody which was the center stage of the movie.  It’s really gorgeous.

There are some other familiar songs that were redone including Raise It Up, God Bless the Child and La Bamba.

If you appreciate an acoustic, celtic, gospel, orchestra sound, or even jazz this is definitely a soundtrack you should look into.  Buy August Rush: Music From The Motion Picture here.

On a very side note, I just read that Jonathan Rhys  Meyers was arrested recently. Oh well, he’s still hot and can sing!

Savings this week

November 30, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

So can you believe I have not been to CVS or Walgreens this week?  There just wasn’t anything I really was interested in.  I guess they outdid themselves for Black Friday.  I also had fallen off the menu planning/grocery store thing the past week or two but made it back today.  Without too much planning, I saved 40% in one trip and 32% at another.  Not the greatest but I got a ton of stuff and probably won’t have to do major shopping for a couple weeks.

So the holiday parties begin

November 30, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I am going to be BUSY the next few weeks with parties and such.  Here’s the run down.

  • Sat Dec 1 Choir Christmas Dinner
  • Fri Dec 7 Scott’s Shift Party
  • Sat Dec 8 Jaynee’s White Elephant Exchange
  • Wed Dec 12 Youth Group Cotillion.  Also Scott’s county’s Christmas Dinner but he’ll be going to that since he’s working and I’ll go to the cotillion
  • Sat Dec 15 Daughtry concert – not Christmas, but on the schedule nonetheless
  • Wed Dec 20- Sun Dec 23 Will be in Maryland visiting family and will probably attend 3 separate Christmas get-togethers
  • Mon Dec 24 Not sure on the date on this but we have a Christmas thing at Scott’s grandmothers
  • Tues Dec 25 Christmas day we have Christmas here in the morning and then usually visit both parents houses
  • Also not scheduled is our get-together with D&D.

That is all happening within about 3 weeks.  I’m thinking I need to get all my shopping done this weekend or I seriously need to do it online.

I survived NaBloPoMo

I was very sure I could do this without batting an eye but there were a few days where it was 10pm and there were no posts for the day.  I actually had to think about what to write a few times.  That being said, I did it.  Posted every day in November and survived NaBloPoMo.

False alarm?

November 30, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Well after drinking four or five glasses of water last night and a full night’s sleep, the major pain I had last night is gone this morning.  It still doesn’t feel quite right on my left side but it’s lower down and not as strong.  I’m hoping that means it’s an intestinal issue versus kidney issue.  People are scaring the crap out of me about passing a stone.  I really don’t care to have another birth story.

Christmas Music

November 29, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I was lucky enough to be one of the 150 people to get Michael W. Smith’s new Christmas CD for free. I signed up and then had it within 2 days I think.  We’ve been listening to it in the van and it’s a great CD.  If you’re looking for instrumental, very calming Christmas music, this is it.  It would make background music to a party or even while working if you don’t want anything to distracting.  Take a listen here.

So much for my list

November 29, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I had a long list of things to do this evening.

  1. Do laundry
  2. Pay bills
  3. Grocery shopping
  4. Fill in rebates
  5. Exchange jacket at Old Navy
  6. Fill out work forms
  7. Take movies back to Blockbuster

I only partially got #1 done and got #2, 4 and 5 done.  Want to know why?

I may have a kidney stone and I spent the evening at the doctor.

Yep.

We went to Mom’s to eat and drop the girls off to spend the night and a dull pain started in my lower back.  I started to feel tired and weird.  I knew something wasn’t right.  So we took off for the emergency care center.  He did an x-ray and urine and blood tests.  He said it’s not an infection but I do have blood in my urine.  He believes it might be a kidney stone and sent me home with narcotics and a strainer.  One other possibility is stool is causing pain passing through.  For once I’m hoping I have gas.
