Scott’s surgery scheduled

September 4, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Scott will be in surgery tomorrow from 7:45 until around 10:15.  We’ve got his cousin coming over in the morning to stay with the girls until his sister comes to pick them up for school.  We should be back and have Scott settled in so I can go pick up the girls at 12.  Whew, tomorrow is going to be crazy I think.  Let’s just pray the surgery goes well through all that.

Back to school…

September 4, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

img_8252.JPGFirst day of preschool today.  Lexi whined and complained the entire morning about everything I asked her to do.  I don’t wanna wear my dress.  I don’t wanna put on my shoes.  I don’t wanna eat a poptart.  I don’t wanna go to school.  But by the time I got them in the van, she was set to go and was excited to get out of the van to go into class.  Emma was excited the whole morning and was practically jumping around the van waiting for them to take them out.  It was a quiet morning and I enjoyed it but they were a pill when they got home.  Emma started crying because I put in the Diego video for Lexi instead of keeping it on Noggin.  She still won’t eat her lunch as we speak although they have been playing nicely together since Diego ended.  Hopefully they’ll settle back into the swing of things soon.

WW Before/After

September 3, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

OK, I know before and after pictures are sometimes stretching the truth a little bit…I mean even I was tempted to pull out the 3 weeks post baby picture of me 15 lbs heavier to compare how I look now but I tried to find some pictures that actually made a decent comparison.   After Scott snapped some decent full body pictures of me this weekend, I figured now was as good a time as any to post some before/after pictures.

The first picture is me last year at the beach but I didn’t weigh as much as I did when I started WW a few weeks ago.  The second picture is back in June where the weight was closer but unfortunately the swimsuit was a little different so it’s not really apples/oranges kind of thing.  You’ll notice the weight is pretty much in the belly.  Some around the thighs.

And yes, I was slouching, scratching my nose and had no tan in the “before” pictures and all but posing for “after” pictures with a nice, end of summer tan but come on, you know these wouldn’t be any fun if I didn’t actually look better in the end….

So I show all that to, yes, say Go Me, but also to say Weight Watchers WORKS and once again 7 lbs was only 7 lbs (was down an extra pound this weekend) and maybe you couldn’t even see the need for me to lose any weight–yes, I’ve heard the “you’re going to blow away in the wind” comment more than I can count–but it was a goal that mattered to me and Weight Watchers was what helped and I highly recommend it to anyone!  I do want to note I’ve also been working out for the past 2 years almost so it helped with a lot of the toning but the actual weight never came off until I did WW.

Happy Labor Day

September 3, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Is that the right thing to say on Labor Day?  Happy Labor Day?  It works I guess.

‘Member last night I said I was going to catch up on some sleep?  That was around 9:30?  I went to sleep right after that and didn’t wake up until 11:15 today!!!  Woah, I haven’t slept that long probably in, well, 5 years.  Needless to say, I didn’t get the house cleaned this morning as planned.

We went and got the girls and had lunch at his mom and dad’s house.  Emma stayed over there to play with S and Lexi came home with us.  I was cleaning up and Scott was supposed to sit with Lexi in the recliner to put her to sleep for a nap but this is how I found him after coming out of the bedroom:

Scott asleep with two of Lexi’s blankies but no Lexi.  Thanks, babe.

This is what I was working on in the bedroom this afternoon…

My closet looked like it had thrown up.  I hadn’t put away any clothes fom the trip, my shoes were out, clean clothes were mixed in there I never put up before we left, my dry cleaning was still hanging, some clothes on hangers had fallen off, etc.  But this is after I finished:

So Mom and Dad and Heather came over for dinner and swimming.  Turns out the water was pretty cold and dirty though and only Lexi really ended up swimming.  I think we’re closing it up for the summer tomorrow.  Scott has his surgery on Wednesday and the girls start preschool tomorrow so it seems like a good time.

So I think that catches us up.  Let me just say another note on this past weekend though.  This weekend we really did have a great time.  J&J were SO easy going and pretty much catered to anything we wanted to do and really it seemed to match up with what they wanted to do.  And ya’ll, I don’t think the four of us have felt like a family more than this weekend.  I felt it with me, Emma and Scott when we lived in Columbia.  That “we’re on our own now” kind of feeling but since Lexi was born, we haven’t really had that.  But this weekend was a first.  It felt so great.  I really felt like we were a family.  I don’t know if I can explain that in any other way but just wanted to say it felt great and we will definitely be doing more vacations/outings without family in the future.

We’re back…

September 2, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Ok, failed to finish out the updates through the weekend, but we’re back.  Leg is fine.  I’ll post pictures tomorrow.

We ended up going to Alligator Adventure, to dinner at a GREAT local seafood place and then to putt-putt Saturday night.

This morning we went back to the beach, ate in, went shopping and then headed home.  Girls are gone to Mom’s to stay the night.  We’re headed to be to catch up on sleep!

The Beach – Day 2 – The Morning

September 1, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Let’s start off with some EXCITING news.  I got stung by a jellyfish.  Twice.  Yep.  And it hurts.  I am still feeling the sting hours later.  I was standing in knee high water or so holding Lexi up (thank goodness) and felt like electric suckers had attached to my leg.  I started to run out of the water and got it on the other leg.  A lifeguard was on duty and sprayed some vinegar on it.  The welts came up within 5 or 10 minutes.  Probably baseball size on each leg.  Sort of felt like someone had put a hot pan on each leg and I was just badly burned.  So yeah, that’s the big news for the day I guess.

The girls were up early this morning.  We were on the beach by about 9.  The girls had a blast on the beach digging in the sand.  Lexi did have to go to the water several times to get cleaned off and eventually ended up taking her bathing suit off and left her in her swimmie diaper because she didn’t like the attached skirt since it kept getting dirty when she’d sit down.  We stayed until 12 or so and then headed for the pool/hot tub again.  We were upstairs for lunch by 1 and now just hanging out while everyone gets ready.

I think we’re going to head out to the Alligator Adventure, go out to dinner and maybe some shopping or something.

Voice Lessons

August 31, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

That’s the simplest way to put St and my meeting today.  We basically went through about 10 songs we sing and took time on each one to figure out my key.  It seems to range from C-G.  Most of the ones he sang were in A, mostly too high for me.  Which now makes perfect sense.

So now I have to relearn all these songs and practice, practice, practice.
