worried

June 18, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I went looking for a particular journal of mine in my bedside table to find a Vintage Amy post and it’s not there.  I’m a little worried about where it might be.  I don’t ever throw things out like that and I really thought it was in that table.  I don’t know where else it might be which makes me worried.

Happy Father’s Day

June 17, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there.

Church was a nightmare of sorts.  They cancelled nursery for the service and Scott was working so I had to sit with both girls in the back row and try to entertain them.  Lexi did not understand the meaning of we need to img_5971s.jpgbe quiet although a few times she did try whisper.  That was in between gathering ALL the hymnals from the row–even asking the people at the end of the row by giving a puppy dog look–and stacking them in one stack on the pew (picture captured while trying to find something to distract her) and banging her toys on the top of the pew in front of us.  She also managed to put lipstick all over her place, throw my cards all over the floor and run back and forth between my row and MIL’s row.  And that’s just Lexi.  Emma wasn’t as bad but was sifting through cards, walking on the pew, walking through pews with S.  Thankfully she stayed with MIL once she got out of the choir loft.  I’m telling you if they ever cancel nursery again, I’m just going home.

img_5987s.jpgWe went out to eat with my parents for lunch and then went shopping at KMart and Home Depot.  I went out on a whim and bought some half fake-half real wedding rings.  The gold is 10K but the stone is CZ.  It’s really pretty though and I got it 70% off.  For the past 3 years I’ve been wearing a $30 silver ring from Myrtle Beach since my other one breaks me out every time I try to wear it.  I’m hoping our ten year anniversary brings me a replacement of some sorts next year.

We spent a few hours at home after that when I got some cleaning done and then I headed to church to help take care of an issue with a youth while Scott and the girls went to IL’s house for a Father’s Day dinner. We ended up there until 9 and then stopped at Mom’s on the way home.  They had a bunch of stuff of mine for me to go through before they move this week.  Let me tell you, I was the biggest pat rack ever. I had every story I had written from middle school.  I had an entire leaf collection from science in high school. I  had wood projects from middle school.   I had history papers and geometry papers.  It was ridiculous.  I did salvage a few things including a paper about my great grandmother that died in 1994.  I plan to type that up soon and post it probably.  It had details in it that I had already forgotten about her.  It’s those things that I hope I keep around and reasons I keep a blog now.

So that was the day.  It went fast and now I have work looming in the morning.  I have some documentation to get out in the morning and some production problems to work through.  No L this week, she’s at the beach :(.

One Lexi story from today though before I go.  We always sing Happy Birthday at the end of church and people with a birthday that week come and give a dollar for missions.  I told Lexi to look at me, I was singing Happy Birthday.  She just stared at me with wide eyes for a few seconds, put her hands on her chest and said, “Meeee??!”

Actually one more story I need to get on paper.  The other night we were all in the living room and Scott and the girls were just playing on the floor.  Lexi put her hands out and said something.  She’s still hard to understand at times and Scott and I looked at each other puzzled.  Then it hit us at the same time she was saying, “What’s. go-ing on?” Probably not funny to anyone but us just because Lexi is so easy going and never says anything like that.  But it was funny to us and one of those things we’ll want to remember.

 Update:

img_5991s.jpgLexi and Emma went to sleep together for the first time tonight.  Lately Lexi has been going into Emma’s bed and then I take Lexi to her crib.  Scott left Lexi in there and she never walked out like she has in the past when we tried that.  I found this when I went to check on them.  Awww…

Weather: good

Today is father’s day.  We gave dad underwear and T-shirts.  We went to go see our old babysitter her husband used to change my diapers!  I couldn’t remember anything about the people or place!  Kelly, Heather’s age, was the nicest, then Jeremy, my age, was hiper.  Cindy, didn’t really like, was there neighbor.  I liked there house, and would like to see them soon.  Tonight was the last night to babysit and I don’t know if Melissa did it or not!  I still like VM!

Signed Amy W

What you should know now:
I have no idea what former babysitter I was talking about.  VM is another boy in my youth group that for a short time I thought was cute but never once said a word to.  I’m not sure about the whole babysitting thing except I think we had a sort-of job at her church taking turns babysitting.

June 13-18, 1993

June 17, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Please remember, I was not quite 15 when I wrote this.  And I’ve decided to comment in brackets.

Well, here I begin again, speaking of the small part of my life to share with you.  A part of my life that happens every year in the hot section of the year-summer camp.   My youth group went to Nosoca Pines for the third time in a row.  I love it there.  Of course being a female I must start off speaking of the romance in the week.  At first, I looked at T every minute of the day [since when does looking at someone count as romance], who has the body better than Marky Mark [*shaking head* it was 1993!].  But that changed because a fellow inhabitor of White Pine was getting involved with him [maybe she actually talked to him].  I didn’t want to interfere [oh gosh, i’m so glad i’m doing this].  Earlier GR had said hey to me a couple times and then decided to ignore me totally on Wednesday.  Thursday came along and he decided to humble himself and say hi to me.  Friday our last day came beginning with breakfast where G sat with me by his own choice.  The camp packed up and moved on to lunch where G stood with me in line after I asked him to, to repay him for letting him in front of me at breakfast.  At no obliation, he sat beside me again with S and C, the couple of the camp.  We didn’t speak much until everyone left besides us four when we signed the banner and walked up to the gym together.  We walked back down to the cafeteria leaving G there to help and saved him a seat on the bus with me.  G got on the bus right before we had to walk right back up to the gym to take the camp picture.  He stood besdie me with his arm around me [omg, we touched] while the camera clicked twice [i am such a dork, why would i write that??].  Everyone headed for the bus to travel and hour and a half back home.  G and I talked the whole way.  On Thursday night, B was given a vision that he was going to become a minister when he gets older.  That’s the best thing about him.  He told me he has a job, but not a car [G or B??. I think G] He hasn’t had a date since September because he hasn’t felt the need for it.  he said he became closer to God in that time and if you’re not close to God, you shouldn’t be close to anyone else.  So you can put your attention to Him.  I was like, “So you don’t want to date me?” I’ve tried to not get so goo-goo eyed about him and get my hopes up even though S and J said they thought he liked me.  Well that’s the romance [stop, I can’t handle anymore].  I became closer to God even though last year was more emotional.  The food was good and I only got 5 hours of sleep every night.  That’s why when I went to sleep last night at 11:00 I woke up at 12:30 the next day [i miss those days].  I have to say I enjoyed camp even though I didn’t get on the Catameran this year once [random, but S and I rocked the Catamaren the year before].

What you should know now:

G and I ended up “dating”..whatever that meant apparently.  Up until now, looking back it was a bonafied relationship that lasted at least a month or so.  I remember him making me mixed cassettes along with notebooks with writings that went along with it (I think).  I broke up with him to go out with an older guy from my high school (I went to church in Charlotte and he was from there).  I actually ran into G about 2 months ago at my Y.  I stopped him to say hi and I introduced him the family and he said he lives in my town now.  That was weird.

Vintage Amy

Mom and Dad are moving so I’m getting all my old stuff that was left at their house including all my old diaries.  Since I don’t have time to actually sit and read all of them, I thought it might be neat to post one of the entries from the current day and month but from a different year from one of my diaries.  I’m very sure these will be embarrassing.

OK, so I finally activated the Akismet plugin which should take away the spam comment issue I was having.  Can I just say it was awesome that it went back to the beginning of my blog and deleted all 12,000 spam comments.  Wow.  So now I turned the comment thing back on so I don’t have to approve them.  Let me know if Akismet filters your email and marks you as spam though.

i hate making up titles

June 16, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Still not good at making up titles.

Well, today didn’t go nearly like I planned.  Except for the fact I didn’t forget Go Diego Go show.  The girls got up well before normal time at 7am.  I turned on my tv and brought them in my room to watch cartoons and play while I tried to stay in that keep-my-eyes-closed-but-still-awake-enough-to-listen mode until 8ish.  We were out the door before 10 for the show with SIL and her daughter.

The show started a little late and was way longer than the Dora show that was similar.  The girls loved it.  We were sitting on the highest balcony and Lexi kept waving hoping for someone to wave back.  I think Diego finally did and she was quite satisfied with that.  Emma says the Balbos (sp?) were her favorite and I think Baby Jaguar was Lexi’s.  Lexi sat in my lap the entire time and Emma sat next to me.  They were both well behaved.  The only bad thing is Lexi insisted in being carried so I had to carry her all around downtown.  I did convince her to walk up the stairs by herself though.  We stopped at McD’s on the way home and ate there since there were so many people in the drive-thru.  So by the time we did that and picked up SIL’s van at our house, dropped all the girls off at MIL’s and got home, it was 2:30.  And I was SO tired.  The whole gym thing was out the door but I really needed to clean.  So I put my hair up and really intended to do that but I laid down on the bed thinking I never am able to take a nap, but if I can, I’m just going to do it.  Needless to say, Scott woke me up when he got home after 5pm.  Yeah. No exercising and no cleaning.  We left as soon as he signed off from work and headed out for dinner and some Father’s Day shopping.  I’ve done some cleaning this evening but nothing major.  In the meantime, we’ve had a little house drama.  Apparently Scott saw a rat run behind our tv and go in a hole in the wall that he has some wires run through.   So he had to run out the store and get foam and traps and poison and whatever else he got.  Emma has obsessed about rats since then.  She genuinely seems scared.  But questions about how big they were and whether they could fit in doors or windows or whether Daddy had killed all the rats in the world and where rats live and on and on.  I’m getting back every question I ever asked my mother.

So tomorrow is church and lunch with my parents while Scott works and then we’ll do dinner with Scott’s family.  That should do it for the weekend.

Decent day

June 15, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Mom came and got the girls pretty early this morning.  She ended up keeping them through lunch so she picked up L and took all of them to her house for a little bit.  They showed up back at the house around 3 until 4 when L’s mom came to pick her up.  Emma and Lexi seemed much more comfortable with her today than even yesterday.  And L seemed more comfortable as well.

While they were gone all day I worked mainly.  I went out at lunch to a Combi warehouse sale.  I was hoping to pick up another car seat for Lexi but they mainly had strollers there.

This afternoon after work I took the girls to Target to get J a baby shower gift.  Lexi had a meltdown so we didn’t stay long.  Apparently she was tired from her long day because she fell asleep on the way home.  Soon after we got home, Emma and I left for the baby shower.  It was at D’s mother’s house so D’s kids were there and Emma played with them well the whole time.  I enjoyed good food and chit chat and stayed almost until bedtime while Emma played.

The girls are all in bed, very happy to wake up and get ready to go see ye-go, bah-pah, bih mah, and baby jawire (Diego, backpack, big map and baby jaguar in  Lexi’s language).  She’s pretty excited.  Emma’s question tonight was are we going where we saw Shrek or The Wiggles or Dora.  And when I said Dora, she knew exactly what place I meant.  That girl has some sort of memory!

Mom had a funny story from Emma today.  She showed her some blind at her shop this morning and Emma says “Now that’s something you don’t see every day.”  I see Pinky Dinky Doo has had quite an impact in her vocabulary.  The other day Heather asked her about some type of food and she says, “My mommy doesn’t prepare that food for me.”  Uh, yeah, I don’t ever prepare food, I make it.  Not sure where she got that from.  I don’t think I’ve heard that one from Pinky Dinky Doo yet.

So I guess I should get my sleep tonight after being up so late last night.  The good news is after the big Diego show MIL is taking the kids for the afternoon.  That means I get the afternoon to myself.  Maybe will head to the gym and then  come home and clean.  I’m not sure why either of those things seem like great things to do on a Saturday afternoon.  Sure wouldn’t have been even a few years ago.  Well, ok, maybe the cleaning still isn’t but at least if I have to do it, I can do it sans kids with the music so loud the neighbor can hear it 🙂
