Last Chance! The Ultimate Homemaking eBook Bundle

May 3, 2013 by Amy Leave a Comment

This is it, folks, we’re down to the last days of the sale—and my last post about the eBook bundle.

You will not be able to get these books together after Saturday night at 11:59pm.  After that, you’ll have to pay full price individually!

 BUY THE BUNDLE NOW

I know—some of you are sighing with relief. But I hope that those of you who have picked it up are excited and can attest to its value.  I definitely wouldn’t have dedicated a week of posts to it if I didn’t think it was worth it!

Anyone have a favorite so far they want to share?

I made two recipes this week I didn’t share here.

I tried a beef dish in Crock On that was to die for.  Oh my goodness.  The kids didn’t even mind the leftovers.

Last night, we tried the Mexican Chocolate ice cream from Just Making Ice Cream.

So much good stuff in just those two books!

Thank you so much for letting me take the time this week to share about the sale.  A portion of the sales you bought here support this site and I appreciate it more than you know!

Stitch Fix #4

May 2, 2013 by Amy 3 Comments

IMG_6254

Yeehaw!  I still LOVE to get my fixes.  Seriously, it makes my day to see that cardboard box with the mint green tape on my porch.  Easily pleased?  Perhaps.

My latest Stitch Fix contained several contenders but I ended up keeping the shirt featured in the image above.

You probably know I love black and white, I love print, I love birds, I love that it’s not too tight, I love the v-neck, I love the cropped sleeves.  Basically, that shirt was perfect for me.

Here are the other 4 items I sent back:

stitchfix4o

A few comments about the other items:

  • The striped shirt was cute.  I wish you could see the details in the shoulders. But, it was a little too tight in the waist and I wasn’t sure I could wear it and not feel like it was July 4th.
  • The cardigan was just not my style. Older and more classic than I like.
  • The 3rd hi-lo sleeveless stop was just not my colors and it had a tie in the front I wasn’t fond of.
  • The coral color was gorgeous but a tad longer than I liked and it was silk so a little too high maintenance.

If you love fashion or even if it’s a struggle—especially if it’s a struggle–the Ultimate eBook bundle includes several fashion-related books.  I hope if you bought the bundle you’re checking out all these awesome books.  Here are a couple:

fashion2

Frumps to Pumps by Sarah Mae @ SaraMae.com ($4.99)

Sarah Mae gives you the reason to get dressed every day and helps you with baby steps.

The No Brainer Wardrobe by Hayley @ The No Brainer Wardrobe ($7.99)

Hayley gives you practical tools to make getting dressed easy.  My favorite part is where she carries her iPhone into a thrift store to put together an outfit from an inspirational outfit on Pinterest.  That is so far beyond my abilities but I’m excited to try.

So, two things: sign up for Stitch Fix if you want to give it a whirl and be sure to buy the eBook bundle—only available for 2 more days!  Also, you DID share about the bundle even if you aren’t going to buy it and entered to win the Kindle Fire, right??

Dear Diary, I Screwed Up

May 1, 2013 by Amy 4 Comments

Dear Diary,

I screwed up last week.  Actually, it’s been building for several weeks now but last week it all came crashing down.  No worries, this is not Entangled Part II.

I suppose it all started when I switched sites. I’ve been so re-energized by the site move.

Moving felt a bit like I went to college.  I could express myself the way I wanted and learn what I wanted.  Certainly I hadn’t arrived.  In fact, it felt like just a beginning.  But I had grown up a little.

I added a growth plan and an advisory board.  And I loved it. Still do.  But the fact is I had scheduled a lot of my time with very little margin.  The advisory board has been a lifesaver but it also took extra time.

And then, we decided to get Bella.  And, diary, I love Bella.  I really do.  But she takes up so much time.  Any margin that I did have is gone.

And then, I decided to jump into this eBook bundle deal.  And oh my word, I’m so glad I did—I truly believe in its value–but it was a ton of work to put together.

Last week I stayed up late every night. I didn’t take my medicine because I was out and I couldn’t go get more because I had to do things like make videos on my lunch break because Bella was actually sleeping through lunch.

People on my advisory board were telling me to slow the heck down and I wanted to but I had committed and I loved blogging and by golly, I loved it all and didn’t know how to lay any of it down.

Hula 220 square (1) So, on Sunday afternoon I was sitting in the van waiting on the family to run in and get take-out from McAlister’s because I hadn’t left enough time to grocery shop on Saturday and spent the time reviewing another book from the eBook bundle.  And then the tears came as I read Hula Hoop Girl.

I realized I’d picked up too many hula hoops and was trying to keep them all spinning.

I read these words from September:

We…feel overwhelmed in a quickly moving current of things to do, and nothing has perspective. Even the things that have a good foundation or are in their perfect place may seem appealing to us to take on as another hula-hoop. We justify and reason because it is something “good.” Sometimes, I hear women say, “Something has to give.”
Perhaps this is you.

My tears screamed this was me.  Ironically, the very act of reading those words was a hula hoop I had picked up but God didn’t waste another one of my screw-ups.

I read the rest of that book, finished off my posts for the eBook launch and then vowed that I needed to lay down some hula hoops.  Needed some boundaries.  Needed some rest.

God never meant for you to suffer and destroy the very work He began in you (Phil. 1:6). It pains Him to see us push beyond limits and take on more than He requires.

I am going to repeat this part—“More than HE requires.” We often get our desires and His a little confused.

What does HE require of me?  Because I know it’s not what the past few weeks have looked like.

I took a long nap on Sunday and have been getting to bed at a decent time.  We went grocery shopping on Sunday night and got back on track.  I’ve let go of the idea that I have to blog 5 days a week.  I’m putting my family back at the top of the list where they belong.  And most of all, I want to figure out what he does require.

I screwed up but I sure am thankful for grace.

Love, Amy

Readers, I love you so much but please forgive me if I’m not blogging quite every day.  Tentatively, I’m looking to put guest posts up on Thursdays starting next week but that might be too much work too.  We’ll see.  The best way to keep up with the posts is to either subscribe or follow the Facebook page.

I know you’re all so busy too and could probably write your own Dear Diary post.  As you can imagine, I’m highly recommending that you pick up the eBook bundle (please make all this work worth it!) and read Hula Hoop Girl.  The author is a mother of 10 and I can’t imagine all the wisdom she has.  You can catch her blogging over at One September Day too.

Make Your Own Sugar Scrub

April 30, 2013 by Amy 5 Comments

A few years ago, I wrote about how I reward myself for clearing out the dishwasher.  I set a timer and reward myself with scrubs for my hands.

So, I was psyched to see Simple Scrubs to Make and Give in the Ultimate Homemaking eBook bundle.

The author Stacy allowed me to share the basic sugar scrub.

Basic Sugar Scrub

IMG_6213

Ingredients:

1 cup sugar – brown, white, raw, or a combination of these
¼ to ½ cup oil – coconut oil (melted), safflower, sweet almond, grapeseed, or olive – choose one oil or use a combination

Optional extras:

Essential oils

Grated cocoa butter

Vanilla or almond extract

Ground coffee

Dried herbs, ground

I chose vanilla extract.  You simply combine the sugar and oil, adding oil to produce the consistency you want.  Stacy says, “Body scrub should be soft and somewhat slushy, but not too runny.”

And if you’re not happy with the results she says to adjust in the following ways:

  • If the scrub is too runny and slides right off your hands, add more sugar.
  • If the scrub is too dry, add more oil (a little at a time).
  • If the scent is not strong enough, add a drop or two of essential oil (but don’t go overboard! Once it’s too strong, it’s hard to go back without making scrub for the entire neighborhood).

Lexi tried it with me and she couldn’t get over how sweet it smelled and how smooth her hands felt afterward.  I love that I can use ingredients I have in my pantry.  Who knew it was so simple?

I put mine in a little mason jar from Hobby Lobby and topped it with some extra fabric I’ve had from IKEA.  Perfect for gifts and easy peasy!

Stacy has included all sorts of different recipes and additional information like where to buy ingredients and how to use them.  You can buy Simple Scrubs on its own or I’d certainly suggest buying the eBook bundle.  And if you have the book already, try one of the recipes out and let me know what you think!

It’s Here! The Ultimate Homemaking eBook Bundle + Kindle Fire HD Giveaway

April 29, 2013 by Amy Leave a Comment

Happy Monday! I’m so excited about this bundle and hope you will be too!!  For 6 days only, more than 75 widely-known bloggers and authors in the homemaking sphere have joined together to offer 97 of their most popular eBooks and eCourses, valued at just over $600, for the incredibly low price of $29.97!  That’s just .31 per book!  PLUS over $140 of FREE Bonuses! I’m so honored my book Entangled has been included and would like to welcome any new readers checking out my site for the first time! Entangled is a book close to my heart and I hope it’s a blessing to your marriage.

You’ll find books in The Ultimate Homemaking Bundle the following categories:

  • Organization and cleaning
  • Cookbooks
  • Spiritual growth for both moms and kids
  • Home décor and DIY
  • Frugal living
  • Health and fitness
  • Blogging
  • Financial tools
  • Time Management
  • Pregnancy and baby care

You will not find a more comprehensive collection of homemaking resources anywhere on the web, and particularly not in this price range. For this low price, you gain access to every single one of these resources, so that you can customize your own collection to contain exactly the ones you want and know you’ll use.

You know me, though, I like to count the cost of a deal.  Is it *really* worth $29.97?  There’s no doubt it’s overwhelming to decide so I did the hard work for you. I took the time to find the books I’m most excited about to see if the math works. Check it out in the video below.

In case you skipped the video, I shared the 15 books pictured below which are worth $86, making them $1.99 each if you JUST got those.  But, you get 82 other books you can read, many that are AWESOME but I just didn’t have the time to mention.  PLUS you get the  free bonuses (anyone like free toothpaste?).  I firmly believe a book can change your life so there is no question this is a good deal.

And listen, you might just find one or two books you like and for sure, just buy those if that’s all you want.  Like I said, it’s only a great deal if you use it.  It only takes 5 or so to make it worth it though.

For you regular readers, I’ll warn you this week may look a little different than others. I’m so excited about this bundle that I’m dedicating all my posts this week to the sale.  Don’t worry, I’m not going to be spammy.  I’m just going to take the time to highlight some things *I* get from the books in the bundle because there just really is no way to do it in one post.  Whether or not you buy the book, I hope they’ll be informative and FUN.

On top of all that, 21 of the authors are offering an extra incentive to share the sale by giving away a Kindle HD Fire to help you read all these books!  How cool is that?

So without further adieu, head over to a landing page which has the giveaway, all the books pictured and linked individually if you prefer, all the bonuses you’ll get, links to buy and all the fine print you need to know.

Please note: This collection is only available from 9 a.m. EST on April 29th to 11:59 p.m. EST on May 4th. There will be no late sales offered.

What I’m Into – April 2013

April 25, 2013 by Amy 17 Comments

On the Internet

Coffitivity

coffitivity

Coffitivity is a web site that plays coffee shop background noise.  They say it helps boost creativity while you work.

I have no idea if it really boosts any creativity but I’m at home working often and find that it’s super helpful to have some noise, but nothing I have to pay close attention to.  With music, I’m paying too much attention to the lyrics. Although the site does allow you to add in some music if you want.

Pocket

PKTBlog_Graphics_0000_Lineup

Pocket is my absolute new favorite tool online.  I come across SO MANY links to read on Twitter but usually don’t have time to read them. I just click a little button in my tool bar and Pocket puts the link in a list to read later.

Pocket has a great iPad app and I tend to read through my list at the end of the day while I’m lying with the kids at night when they read.

You should totally “pocket” this article for later if you don’t have time to digest it all now.

On TV

Duck Dynasty

dd

I’d been hearing about Duck Dynasty for months and months but without satellite, we’ve been missing out on watching.  I couldn’t imagine that we’d get a lot of enjoyment from a show about a group of self-professed redneck duck hunters but I was really wrong.

We borrowed the first two seasons on DVD and got totally and completely hooked, staying up late every night of Spring Break to watch episode after episode all together.  I wish you could see Scott cackle at Uncle Si.  Jase is my favorite and the girls have a crush on John Luke.

We just realized we could have been watching it online and have watched much of Season 3, much to our disappointment.  It’s been forced and bland.  But still, Si still seems to pull through with some sort of shenanigan every episode and makes it worth the 30 minutes.

In My Kitchen

Chocolate covered espresso beans

IMG_6128

Espresso beans by themselves? Grody.  Chocolate covered espresso beans?  Heavenly.

Love having these to snack on in the afternoon.  They’re not cheap though so wait for a sale.

In My Closet

Neutral Sandals

sandals

I picked these sandals up for $14 with free shipping from a Loft sale a few weeks ago.  I was ecstatic when they were a perfect fit.

If you haven’t noticed in my What I Wore Wednesday posts, I’ve been wearing the hound out of them this month—capris, jeans, dresses—they go with anything.

Striped Maxi

maxi

I’ve mentioned it in my What I Wore Wednesday posts but I adore my striped maxi.  I can wear it so many ways and I plan to keep experimenting through the summer.

In My Hands

Crocheting

crochet

I knocked off an item from my Growth Plan and have been crocheting this month!

My friend Becky met me at Starbucks a few weeks ago and taught me the basics.  I’ve been practicing and finished the roll? spool? bundle? of yarn she gave me.  It turned out like a very wonky doll blanket.  The sides have more waves than a pageant winner in a parade.  I’m horrible at it so far but I do like it.

Bella

2013-04-24

OK, you haven’t been reading if you don’t know the biggest new thing I’ve been into this month is our new puppy Bella.   She’s a terrible amount of work but oh so fun-loving and sweet and worth it.

This post will be linked with LeighKramer.com.

Are you experiencing troubles or do have questions about The Ultimate Homemakers eBook Bundle? Take a look through these frequently asked questions and maybe we can help you out. 🙂

Receiving Your eBooks and eCourses

How do I receive my eBooks?

After your purchase was completed through Paypal, you should have received an automatic email containing the download links. This email goes directly to whichever email account is connected to your Paypal account.

Sometimes these emails wind up in spam folders, instead of in your inbox. Before you worry that you didn’t get the email, make sure you take a good look at your spam folder first. It’s a pain, but it happens.

How do I receive my eCourses?

In the email that you receive when you purchase the bundle, there will be special links and/or coupon codes that you will use to access your eCourses.

Downloading, Devices (eReaders, iPads, phones, etc.) and Other Technical Issues

How do I download the ebooks to my computer?

In the email that you receive, there will be links that you will use to download all of the book files. In total you will find around 70 download links, but within these links are all 90+ eBooks included in the sale.

Many of the books are sent as individual files and you will click on the specific link to download each book.

For some of the books, we have put them together into .zip files, with a handful of eBooks in each file (these are noted by the words “folder contains X number of ebooks”). You’ll simply download each .zip file onto your computer, then you can open those files up and you’ll find all of the books, which you can then save into the appropriate files on your computer.

Note that if you have an older or slower computer, or a slow internet connection, you will only want to start downloading one .zip file at a time to prevent the download from timing out. If your computer/internet connection is fast, you shouldn’t have any issues with it.

Can I download them on my iPad, iPhone or any other eReader devices?

Yes, but there is a step you need to take first. Due to the size of these files, they can only be downloaded onto a regular desktop or laptop computer.

If you try to download directly onto any type of smaller device, the files will not download properly.

So first, open up your purchase email and download all files onto your regular computer. Once this is done, then you can proceed to transfer them to your devices.

For Kindle, you can use the “Send to Kindle” app. It works on PC or Mac. It can send files (once they are downloaded) to your Kindle app on your Apple device (ie. iPad or iPhone), Android device, or Kindle.

For other ebook readers, you’ll have to do it however you normally do for that device. Usually this involves downloading them onto your computer first, then transferring the files via USB or WiFi to your device after they have been downloaded.

Can I put these eBooks on my Kindle/Nook/eReader?

Yes, you can! But, note that as these are being sold as .PDF files, and not in any specific eReader file type (each eReader uses a different file type, so it would be impossible for us to address all of the various devices and file types out there).

Because they are in .PDF format, some of them will look/work better on an eReader than others. Most eReaders can accommodate these files, they just might not be perfectly formatted to look as good as a file that was made specifically for that device (for example, the font might be slightly small), but most of them should be readable regardless.

For the ones that aren’t, they can all still be read on your computer with the use of a Preview program, or whatever you usually use to view .PDF files.

What are .zip files and how do I open them?

We’ve used .zip files for some of the books simply because they compress files and there are just SO many files included in this bundle. This helps to make it a bit easier and faster to transfer and download the books, even though many of them are still individual downloads. 90+ eBooks is an awful lot!

For both Windows and Mac users, take a look at this very helpful WikiHow tutorial, which will show you exactly how to open .zip files, without a fancy program. As long as your computer is relatively new, you should be able to open the files up without the help of any extra software.

If you have an older computer without this capability, this tutorial gives some ideas of other unzipping software that you can download for free. One way to open .zip files is with a program called WinZip. You can download a trial version here for free.

How long will my download links work for?

The links in your purchase email will work for 4 weeks, which gives you plenty of time to make sure that you get all of your files downloaded and stored properly on your computer.

I would advise that you download them immediately, regardless of the 4 week deadline. It’s easy to forget about this sort of thing, and I wouldn’t want you to be disappointed to realize that your links no longer work!

You must be sure to download all files before June 1st! (This is important!)

Also, just in case you experience a download error, you have 9 download attempts to make sure that you get all of your books!

(You shouldn’t need it, but if for some reason your download attempts run out before you have all of your books, simply email us at bundles@keeperofthehome.org, include your name and Paypal transaction number, and we’ll give you more attempts.)

Bonus Offers

How do I access the bonus offers?

All of these details will be included in the email that you receive after you purchase your bundle. We will give you specific instructions on how to redeem each one of the bonus offers.

Most of them involve visiting the website of the specific company, and then accessing your bonus offer either through a special link we’ll give you, or with a coupon code included in your email.

How long will the bonus offers be available?

All bonus offers will be available for 2 weeks after the sale ends, through May 18th. There will be no extensions on the bonus offers.

These companies have offered what amounts to a significant amount of their inventory, and so for their sake (because we’re really grateful for our amazing bonus sponsors!), there needs to be a finite deadline, so that they can prepare adequately to be able to follow through on honoring the bonuses that they’ve offered.

Do I need to pay shipping?

All of the bonus companies have agreed to honor their regular shipping policies, which means that if they have free shipping at $25 or more, or whatever they usually offer, they’ll allow you to get that shipping rate. In other words, a lot of online “special offers” will bump up the shipping in order to compensate for whatever it is they’re giving you for “free”. Our companies are not doing that.

There are also several items that are digital items (Plan to Eat, ListPlanIt, etc.) and for these bonuses, there is no shipping involved.

What if a company is out of stock or can’t honor the bonus offer?

Although we carefully vet each company making a bonus offer and make it clear to them how many redemptions that we expect to receive through this sale, occasionally things happen and a company may possibly run out of stock and be unable to fulfill an offer. We’ve never had it happen yet, but we’re mentioning it because we know that it is a slight possibility.

It’s important to remember that this bonuses are simply that… a bonus. They are not the product that you are buying. What you are purchasing is the eBook and eCourse bundle, and the bonuses are offered to sweeten the pot and help to introduce you to some fantastic new companies and products.

The organizers of this bundle are not responsible for any individual company’s ability to follow through on the redemption of bonus offers, and each offer is subject to product availability on a first come, first serve basis.

Can I share these bonus offers with my family or friends?

Unfortunately, no. You’re welcome to tell anyone about the bundle or these fantastic new companies you’ve discovered, but these offers are made available solely to those who have bought their OWN eBook bundle, and are not able to be used multiple times.

When you go to redeem your bonus offers, it is likely that companies will require a Paypal transaction number from you, as proof that you have purchased a copy of the eBook bundle. Please be prepared to present them with this information so that they can verify your purchase and honor the bonus offer.

Replacing Lost Files and Sharing Files

What if I lose my eBook files down the road?

Please remember to back up your files (on another computer, on a backup hard drive, on a web-hosted “cloud storage site“). Keeper of the Home and the authors cannot send you copies of eBooks that have been deleted or lost.

Can I share these eBooks with my friends or family members?

Each of the eBooks in The Ultimate Homemaking eBook Bundle is copyrighted by the original author. Your purchase does not entitle you to share the files or upload them anywhere online where others can access them.

Sharing eBooks is theft and steals from the authors who work so hard to create these wonderful resources, so please make sure that you are respecting their copyrights (and you can always point others in the direction of their websites- share the love!).

If you’d like to purchase and give an eBook bundle to someone, that is perfectly fine! Simply purchase one specifically for that person and then “gift” it to them by sending them the download email. 🙂

Note that we will not be offering refunds (but we WILL make sure that you get what you’d paid for!).

Did we miss anything? If you have a question that we haven’t answered, contact us by email at bundles@keeperofthehome.org, and make sure to choose the subject “eBook Bundle”. Including your Paypal transaction number helps us to serve you more easily.

A Day in the Life

April 23, 2013 by Amy 4 Comments

I read Tsh’s Day in the Life post and was spellbound.  What is it about seeing other’s details we love?  I don’t know but here’s mine.

6:00 Sleep Cycle alarm goes off. I question why, after I didn’t go to sleep until 1am the night before, I felt the need to set my alarm for 6am.  I listen as Scott leaves the bathroom and goes to have an MRI to see about a pinched nerve. Reset the alarm for 6:10 and fall back asleep after I hear his truck pull away.

6:10 Still feel like lead, determine I can take a shower later at lunchtime and reset the alarm for 6:30.

6:30 Open my phone, turn off the alarm and scroll through Facebook. Having the light in my eyes wakes me up every morning.

6:36 Determine I really should roll out of bed since I have to get the kids off to school on my own.

6:40 Try to wake the kids up and then head out to the kitchen to start on lunches.

dayinthelife3

6:45 Check on the kids again and hear Bella crying. Let Bella out.

6:50 Check on the kids again and finish lunches. Catch Bella mid-air as she falls off the counter.

6:55 Make cereal. Sign papers. Brush hair. Take Bella out again.

7:05 Put some clothes on. Same ones as yesterday.  I let Bella out again. She finally poops and I’m grateful that’s one less mess I have to clean.

7:10 Help Emma get shoes and clean up water that’s been spilled from Lexi’s water bottle.

7:15 Get out the door.

7:16 Go back in the house to help Lexi get something she forgot.

7:17 Leave for school.

7:27 Get home and let Bella use the bathroom again in the front yard. Type this as I wait and answer Yes when Scott texts me if I want Starbucks on his way home from the doctor.

7:33 Clean off the counter and take pictures of the bar for the day’s post. The one I worked on until 1am Sunday night is a dud and the one about the bar scheduled for Friday is moving to the front of the line.

7:45 Scott walks in with Starbucks and I ask how his appointment went. He has to go back Friday to get results.  Start writing the bar post.

8:02 Realize I need to sign in to work and finish the post as everything gets logged in.

8:10 Put Bella in her crate for a nap.

8:15 Work. The day includes setting goals for the year.  Not my favorite task.

8:38 Realize its Earth day and I didn’t send Emma to school in the earth day shirt I bought specifically for today. I also glance at an incoming email and realize I didn’t get Lexi to write a thank you note for teacher appreciation week. Fail. Go back to goals thinking I clearly need some for personal use.

9:20 Bella wakes up from a nap. I let her out. She comes back in chewing on something. I let her, glad she is distracted for a few minutes while I finish a chat with coworkers.

dayinthelife4

9:30 I call in to my only conference call for the day and sit outside and let Bella play as I am on the call.

9:47 Off the call and good timing because Scott is home from helping install some sort of shelf at the chiropractor’s office and can take over Bella duty. I get back to work, starting up Kristen Howerton’s Killer Tribe session as background.

10:30 Sit outside with my laptop for awhile and let Bella play while I continue to work.

10:45 Take a break to get a sausage patty and coffee. Think to myself all I’ve had to eat was a banana. At least I think I ate a banana. I vaguely remember grabbing one when I got done taking pictures of the bar. Bella also whines and Scott puts her back in her crate for another nap.

10:50 I get back to work researching where I might volunteer for our company’s big volunteer day in June. Start Brad Lomenick’s Killer Tribe session. Also check in on Facebook quickly but don’t see anything interesting.

11:30 Decide to take an early lunch so I can shower while Bella is asleep. As I use the bathroom yet again, I remember that I didn’t just have a banana, Scott brought me Starbucks and the coffee I had mid-morning was actually my second cup. I guess that’s the type of thing you forget when you go to bed at 1am.

dayinthelife5

12 Clean up dishes and start the dishwasher, make a sandwich for Scott as he runs in the door from seeing his grandmother and back out to help my mom at her business. I get Scott to snap a picture of my outfit for What I Wore Wednesday before he leaves.  Finish my lunch break with my prayer time I missed in the morning, answer a few emails and share my post on social media.

12:30 Back to work.

dayinthelife6

1:45 I go get Bella up because she’s been asleep for so long and I’m worried. I move my laptop outside and let her and Tucker play.

2:08 Scott calls to say he’s done with mom and can pick the kids up on the way home. I’m a little sad.

2:46 Girls get home and I take a break to help with homework, hear stories and figure out snacks.

dayinthelife1

3:00 Back to work out in the yard. Bella is still wanting to play and Scott starts a fire to burn brush from trimming trees this weekend and calls the girls out to play.  They’re not excited about it and just sit on their swings.

blueegg

3:30 Scott finds a blue egg in the yard and I Instagram it, taken by the color.

4 Everyone comes inside. Bella goes to her crate to take a nap, Scott and the girls start a game of LIFE and I fix Emma some oatmeal and then get back to work.

4:30 Scott leaves to see his grandmother again who was taken to the ER.

4:45 Lexi asks me to put in The Bible DVDs.

5 Quitting time! The girls are starving so I go ahead and heat up leftovers for them. I’m waiting to eat for Scott to get home because he’s supposed to stop by and get shrimp sauce.

5:30 Bella plays in the front yard and the girls and I enjoy the beautiful weather on a blanket.  I think of the neighbor whose teenager is giving them fits and say a prayer of thanks for the season we’re in.

5:55 Back in for more of The Bible. Bella wants a nap and I’m hoping Scott returns soon so I can eat.

6:10 Scott’s on his way home so I start frying some rice and reheating chicken.

6:30 Scott returns and we eat! The Bible is still playing and I continue to answer questions like why is he wearing a diaper (sumo-ish wrestlers perform for the king)?  And why is Joseph mad she’s pregnant (oh geez)?

6:45 I hang up some clothes, empty the dishwasher and reload it while Scott is replaying some of The Bible he missed.

7:00 I sit down to put this post in draft stage.  After such a late night, I’m exhausted and want to go to bed early.

dayinthelife2

7:20 Scott asks for help with the dishes.  He got a little behind on his duties and it’s not normally this bad.

74222_10151621306123832_646499546_n

7:30 All done with the dishes and we feed the dogs.  I Facebook a picture of the dogs eating out of each other’s bowls.  Tucker always cleans up after Bella and Bella always wants some of Tucker’s for dessert.

7:45 We go out to Cook Out for milkshakes.  It’s been months since we’ve been there.  I get Peanut Butter Fudge. Is there a better flavor?  I think not.

8:15 We’re home and I give Bella a bath on her back end. The downside to long hair.  We shoo the kids off to get their outfits for tomorrow and brush their teeth.

8:30 I lie down with each of the girls and read Stephen King’s On Writing as they read for school.

9:00 I come back out to my desk and finish this post while Scott plays Call of Duty.

9:26 Lexi comes out and says she wants me to lay with her again.  I tell her I’ll check on her when I go to bed, which I hope isn’t long now.  The pictures are giving me fits.

9:39 Emma comes out to say Lexi is already asleep in her bed.  I tell her Daddy will come and move her in a little bit.  He’s on the phone about work.

9:58 I finish this post, schedule it for tomorrow and head straight to bed.  I’ll read some more On Writing and hopefully be out by 10:30.

Tomorrow will be entirely different as I have to go in the office for meetings and Wednesday even more different than that as Scott will be sleeping work off and we have small group out our house in the evening.  With both mine and Scott’s fluctuating work schedule, it’s rare two days look just alike in a week but today was a pretty typical relaxed, work from home day.

What do your days look like?
