So Scott’s Christmas party was pretty fun. Almost his whole shift was there and we all sat together. We’re almost all near the same age and all married so it was nice to get to talk to everyone again. It was good I think that we all met at J’s house for dinner a few weeks ago so it wasn’t terribly awkward. The good news of the night is that before we left, I got our family Christmas picture. Heather took it before we left and both girls had a huge grin on their face. No pretty Christmas dresses on them but I was able to crop it so you couldn’t really tell and I think it turned out pretty darn cute. From the party, we ended up with a $10 Wal-Mart card. We had a $25 Olive Garden one that someone stole but I’m still happy. I mean, who couldn’t use a WM gift card??
I got the HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE news today that we did lose $998 in an ebay scam. Supposedly it was the “appropriate” thing to return the money to the buyer. Well, thanks. What’s appropriate for us and our stolen laptop??
Neither Scott nor I are big football fans. It’s not that we don’t like it, but it’s just not something we watch on a regular basis. But we’ve been trying to catch the past few Panthers games and can I just say it HURTS to watch them play sometimes.
So ya’ll, please keep a couple little babies in your prayers. Scott’s cousin’s baby E is in the hospital. He had to have his circumcision done and had a hernia. The surgery was done yesterday morning and he should be coming home today. We went to see them last night. We had a good visit, eating dinner with D at the cafeteria. On a side note, I think the girls (ie, Lexi) are starting to get to the point where we can take them out more. I know we still have a few more months with Lexi before she can really sit still at a table for a long time but I saw of glimpse of “easiness” last night.
For the second baby, a friend from church her baby is in the hospital with RSV. He’s only 8 weeks old. But he’s been doing good and may be coming home tomorrow.
And finally, a friend from school, her 7 month old has brain cancer. She went into the hospital yesterday and has the surgery tomorrow.
So please say a special prayer for them, especially tomorrow.
So my sister doesn’t get off work until 8 on Mondays. As I mentioned yesterday, Scott’s work party is tonight and I really wanted something new to wear to the party. So I begged her to go to the mall last night which doesn’t close until 10 during the holidays. So we left to crying babies at the front door and headed out. I was really disappointed with a couple stores but this new store that they have in other malls in the area, Forever 21. Very cheap prices. They have these long dresses in there, sort of vintage-70’s type look. Empire waist, long to the floor and flowy. I bought one of them that will probably have to wait until spring to wear but I could see myself wearing that EVERY day. It was so comfortable and really cute.
I finally found an acceptable shirt at Express and they had their jeans on sale AND I had a $15 off coupon. So even though I still left the store with a $75 bill, I do feel better that both of them were on sale. My shirt is just red, v-neck, satin shirt with a empire waist and a tie around the back. Hopefully my white pants are not at the cleaners and I can wear those and black shoes and a black necklace to dress it up a little.
So yay! I get to dress up and go out tonight!
OK, so I think our vehicle situation has been temporarily suspended. After talking with a hobby-mechanic friend they figured out that we do not need to be giving the Jeep gas when we start it (as we had been giving abundantly) because we keep flooding it. Hence the reason it work again in a few hours. So since then, we have driven it without issue back and forth several places. It doesn’t really solve our issue for when I go to work but now that he has a half-decent back up for me to leave here if I take the van, I think we are back-burning the idea of buying another vehicle.
The end of last week and the weekend seemed busy. I worked over on Thursday and Friday and in the evening Scott and I were having, uh, issues. I don’t really want to go into them but they weren’t fun and I was not happy. We have worked through our issues over the weekend and while it’s not a non-issue yet, we have made steps to make it better.
Friday night the girls stayed with MIL and Saturday we woke up just in time to get up and go to the town parade. I’m not sure if I wrote about it last year but I complained about the parade last year. It was so ridiculously short–like 8 minutes long. The band was in jeans and t-shirts and it was just pathetic. My article was actually published in the paper. So I sort of HAD to go to the parade. Especially since Emma was actually IN the parade this year. She rode with my SIL and niece in the rescue squad suburban. She seemed to have a good time. But the parade was SO long with 99 entries and lasting 1 hour and 10 minutes. Yeah. So I don’t know if anyone read my article last year but it I’d like to think it helped. It wa actually overwhelmingly long. Even Mrs. South Carolina showed up. All the local bands, girl/boy scout groups, rescue squads, fire stations, and even lots of businesses. It was really great.
So Saturday night we went to Jaynee’s Christmas party. We didn’t know if we would go to the last minute. I didn’t want to ask MIL to keep them since they had had them the past 24 hours and my mom and sister were working on their work party that was Sunday night. I was going to go solo but MIL heard Scott and I talking about it at Target and volunteered to keep them, so we took advantage of it. We had a good time. The food was great and everyone seemed really nice. I ended up with my own gift from the exchange but the gifts were slim pickins and I was next to last with only Scott’s gift left under the tree and my mugs being the only gift I wanted to steal so I went for it. Scott ended up with a folksy-metal flower wall hanging which everyone laughed at but we now have hanging in the kids play room. Not sure what that means really but we think it’s cute.
Sunday was church as usual and also Mom’s Christmas party. That was lots of good food too. We left the girls there for about 1 1/2 hr while we went to a youth leaders meeting with the seniors in our group. We had A LOT of fun. They are old enough to pretty much be adults. They only have 6 months left of high school but they are young enough to really let go still have fun. I hope we get to go on the trip they are going on in Jan/Feb for the “top 15” (they earn points by attending, bringing friends, etc).
Last night we also caught up on a few Season 1 episodes from The Office that Jaynee let us borrow. I laughed. A lot. It’s a great tv show. After 3 episodes in a row though it was a little much. Only can handle so much of all that GREAT comedy he does lol. I definitely plan to catch up on all the seasons and watch the current ones too.
So this week will be REALLY busy with work. I have so much to do. Friday is a HUGE implementation. We’ve been working on this project for well, years. Part of it was implemented back in September but we are basically having to redo that part to fix some issues and then do the second part also. It’s going to be a long, arduous process this weekend.
Also this week is Scott’s work party tomorrow night. I have no idea what I’m wearing but I’d REALLY like to buy something new. We are also having a catillion with the youth group that is formal and I’d REALLY like to buy a new dress. We’ll see though. It seems like we are running out of time before Christmas. Exactly 3 weeks left! Unbelievable!!
