Modeling update

June 14, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

So I got “secured” for another modeling job.  M is doing a brochure for some company that helps people to sleep.  The word is she wants to do a shot of a guy snoring/sleeping in bed with the woman sitting up with messy hair and looking tired.  There’s going to be one more shot that I don’t know about.  Supposedly they want it to be diverse meaning I will either have a black or asian spouse in the shot with me.  One possible lead on who that might be but I don’t know.  The cool part is I’m actually getting paid for this one.

As for the comp card, I haven’t bugged M about it since we met about it like 2 weeks ago.  I’m in no hurry for it.  I still have doubts about doing it professionally through an agency.  It seems like a full time job from the sites I’ve been to.  It almost seems if you’re on-call 24/7 to go to try-outs or whatever they call it. Not sure I’m up for all that.

I’ve been looking on istockphoto and there are some really gorgeous pictures on there.  I actually went to a site tonight and recognized a business shot I had seen on there.  That REALLY made me want to do that.  That would just be so cool for someone to use one of my pictures somewhere.  And it’s not seeing my face plastered everywhere, I don’t know, it’s like I just want to make other people’s products and services look good for them.  Does that sound weird?  I just need to find someone that can take pictures like that for me–for free!  I’ve thought about putting some of the shots from my comp card on there and see how it does but the whole thing about who owns the pictures–the photographer or model especially since no one got paid to do either service.  I’m guessing we could split the profits–you get 50 cents and I get 50 cents, you get 50 cents and I get 50 cents…lol

David Nasser – Glory Revealed Ch 3

June 14, 2007 by Amy 1 Comment

I’ve been reading David Nasser’s new book Glory Revealed.  It’s actually a devotional really.  I sat down the night before last and went through the few pages of Chapter 3 and then even looked up the extra verses and even answered the questions.  It was kind of shocking really how much I felt like God revealed to me when I actually sat and listened to what he was trying to show me.  It dealt with the fear of God and the verse that stuck out to me was Proverbs 9:10.  I didn’t really understand the connection between fear and wisdom and especially the beginning part of it until then.  Here are some notes I wrote down:

The fear of God puts Him on a pedestal one step higher.  He knows best and you have to listen to Him even when it hurts to obey.  You must know that He is perfect to have fear of Him.  Fear is not being scared.  It is being in awe of or to have respect for.

Wisdom is putting knowledge into practice, or knowing what to do in a situation.  The more we “fear” the Lord, we begin to obey Him because we know He is right.  The knowledge of knowing to do right becomes wisdom when we do what is right.  Wisdom is obedience.  Obedience is wisdom.  Wisdom originates in fear, hence, Proverbs 9:10 says The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

I don’t know if I have it all nailed down yet but I know I do have a new perspective of the fear of the Lord.  It makes me want to go back and read all the scriptures about fear of the Lord again just to see if they have new meaning for me.  It is like the other week when the speaker at our women’s conference gave me a new definition of grace–I wish I could repeat it verbatim–I wanted to go back and read all the scriptures with grace in it.

I’m planning to sit down and read the next chapter here after I find a new template 🙂  Hopefully this one will be just as good–the chapter, not the template ;).

Good night

June 14, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

This evening was a really good evening I suppose.  It started off sort of bad.  My SIL got taken to the ER with chest pains but they ruled out anything major but are sending her for a stress test in the morning.  After that, the four of us stopped at McAllister’s Deli to eat.  We actually don’t eat just the four of us at a sit-down restaurant very much.  With Lexi’s uh, exuberance for life, we try not to put ourselves through that.  But the minute we put her in her seat, she didn’t get down once and ate her salad with ranch dressing) the entire time.  Even Emma at almost all her pb&j, chips and my turkey from my club sandwich.  We sat on the patio outside.  It was really nice outside and was just a really good time together.  One of those times you are like, hey, I must be doing ok with my kids after all.  There was a sweet couple that sat near us that must have been near Mom and Dad’s age.  I think I heard them say they had a 28yo daughter as well.  They seemed quite taken with the girls and we gave them a warm goodbye when we left.  It was one of those moments you must think I might recognize them in heaven one day and say I knew there was something special about you.

Anyway, we met Heather here with some food.  Lexi fell asleep with Scott and Emma in Emma’s bed which has never happened before.  She barely moved when I put her in her crib.  Heather and I watched episodes of Rob & Big which were clap your hands, cry tears, laugh really loud kind of funny while also watching So You Think You Can Dance.  I said I wasn’t going to watch it and then I saw some of the dancing last night and I’m guessing I’ll be watching the rest of the season.  There are some amazing dancers there this year.  I belive Nigel is right when he says they will all put Benji to shame.

So L came today with the girls again.  Apart from the house being a little bit of a disaster when she leaves, she does really well.  Emma wasn’t as nearly as bossy as she was when she came Monday.  Lexi did have some meltdowns but L really tried to solve the issue before I had to step in.  And she did make quite an effort to answer all the cries for drink and food.  They even got outside a little today on the swingset.  I think it will work out well, especially the more they get to know and trust her.  Lexi takes awhile but once she’s attached, she’s attached.  Her preschool teacher and Sunday School teachers are like #1 in her book.

Alright, alright, I guess it is time to change themes.  I’m working on it tonight.  Of course the one I want craps out as soon as I apply the theme.  I guess I’ll go searching for another one.

Update:

I did it, I did it!  Upgraded WP, my database and my theme!  Go me!

Catch-up

June 14, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Wow, I’m getting really bad at updating this site. I’m really going to try to get better.  But it seems I have so much to say, I then say nothing because I don’t want to put in the effort for all I have to say.  And then all you guys get is an abbreviated version of everything.  So here it is:

  • Camp was great
  • Music was not as great as last year, but great
  • Students were way better this year
  • It involved me riding in an ambulance though
  • Everything was fine and we didn’t even see a doctor
  • The pool was finished while I was gone
  • We’ve been out there a lot and I keep getting burnt
  • Scott is spending all his free time putting the deck from Dad’s back together
  • We have a new 12yo babysitter that comes 3 days a week for 4 hours to help me.
  • She’s been here 2 days so far and is working out great
  • I got to go to work yesterday and go out afterwards
  • I wish I had done that a lot more before I had a family
  • It was nice just to do nothing
  • And I got root beer on tap
  • Sort of embarrassing but it was good
  • This weekend is a baby shower and Diego show is Saturday
  • I almost forgot the Diego show
  • Emma would have been so disappointed
  • I hope I don’t forget it again

That’s the short of it for now.

Off to camp

June 3, 2007 by Amy 3 Comments

After a very busy weekend cleaning and getting ready for being gone this week, I’m off tomorrow morning.  I’ll be gone Monday through Friday and Scott and the girls will be holding down the fort here.  I’m really, really excited to go and looking forward to my first vacation sans kids in 4 1/2 years.  Yep, that’s right.  So wish me luck and fun and safety and all that stuff.
