Criss Cross Applesauce

November 13, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

IMG_0323 Tonight I made Chicken Helper chicken and rice and served it with tortilla shells.  I also gave Lexi some applesauce because if nothing else, she normally will eat applesauce.  Or at least dip whatever she is eating into it.

She also normally does not eat the tortilla shell of a soft taco and usually just eats the meat so I did not give her a shell.  She had just woken up from that nap and was sort of ill and starting whining about wanting a shell.

Me: Ok, ok, you can have a shell, here let me put your chicken in there.

Lexi: Noo!!  I don’t want my chicken in there.

Me: Ok, you don’t have to have a shell.

Lexi: I want a sheelll!

Me: Ok, do you want it plain or with the chicken?

Lexi: No!

Me (thinking that was NOT a yes or no question): Do you want the shell?

Lexi (pointing first at the applesauce and then the shell): Applesauce.

Me: You want applesauce on the shell?

Lexi (with smile and nod): Yes!

Me: Alrighty then.

So I did it.  Three big spoonfuls of applesauce right in the center of the shell and then folded and rolled into an Applesauce Burrito.  And guess what?  She liked it.  And ate it.

I still have a bad look on my face thinking about it.

Day 2 Closes Up by 5

November 13, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

IMG_0327

Wow, what a difference a day makes.  See all those stickers over there??  That’s just from today.  I finally quit posting each and every time Lexi went because she kept going so much!  I’m still in shock!  She had one little accident when she was out on the swingset playing and it was barely enough to even call it an accident.  She did also have a #2 accident but I know that comes later sometimes.

And get this, we even went to a meeting at church with panties on and had no accidents.  She asked to go while we were there.  Not that she went, but hey, I’m up to taking her as long as she wants to.  It’s like a different kid from yesterday.

And guess what else?  She took a 2 hour nap this afternoon and didn’t go at all.  In fact, she ate dinner after waking up and then asked to go.  Wow.

Today I did not use a timer but let her lead a little more.  She was so excited each time she came up to me smiling and said, "I have to pee!"  And she tried about 3 times as many times as she actually did anything.  So wow again.  We are well on our way to potty training in less than 48 hours.  Someone please tell me why I didn’t do this before now!

Oh, does anyone else find it funny that she had a plethora of stickers to choose from and she chose soccer balls each and every time?  Emma on the other hand chose something very pink and girly and something very different each time.

One more thing I can’t believe I’m mentioning as a P.S. but one important thing we did together this morning was pray.  Seriously.  At 8am this morning as Emma sat on the big potty and Lexi on the little potty, I literally said a prayer asking that they did well with the potty training and that Mommy had a lot of patience today.  Call me crazy, but Thank You, Jesus!

Again!

November 13, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I promise the potty talk will end soon.

And I feel so hopeful because Lexi went again in the potty!!  Yay!!

This time Scott stopped by from work and it was about time for her to try again so I told her to show him how she did it.  She couldn’t go.  So he left and she went back to playing.  She stopped playing and said "I have to pee again!" and ran into try.  Nothing.  One more round of that and she did it!  Lots more clapping, stickers, M&M’s, etc.

And let’s not leave out Emma..she didn’t pee through the night and has gone #2 in the potty both times today without my prompting.  Whoo Hoo!  I can not tell you how happy this makes me.  Seriously.

SUCCESS!!

November 13, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Lexi went in the potty this morning!!!

YAHOO!!!!!!

She kept telling me today she didn’t want panties, that she wanted a diaper.  I insisted she was 3 now and had to wear them.  I caught her crossing her legs at one point and said don’t pee on the floor.  She ran to the potty and stopped right before the bathroom and saw I wasn’t behind her and said, "Mommy, are you coming??"  And sure enough, just a few second after sitting down, she did it!  Mommy was jumping up and down and clapping and handing out stickers and M&Ms and making calls to all interested family members.

I feel so much better.  There’s hope.

The Bachelor November 12, 2007

November 13, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

That was the most boring women tell all show.  No major drama girls.  Just ones that can’t tell the difference between twins and can’t take a hint on the friend card.

However the last few minutes may have been worth my time.

Jenny dancing with her iPod was funny but what was better were the previews for next week…in my very experienced Bachelor opinion, I think I’m going to stick with my prediction from the end of last week and go with DeAnna.  The whole “I feel great when I’m with you” to Jenny can easily be followed up with “but I don’t think you’re THE ONE.”

As for DeAnna, saying “You told me you thought marriage was forever and I totally agree with you” could be followed with “and I want to spend it with you.”  It could also be followed up with “and I want to make sure I get it right and it’s not with you.” But that seems a little harsh.

Also, Bettina and Sheena who were there the longest both picked DeAnna which makes sense because she didn’t come on strong until the end.  So.  Unless the parent visit changes my mind, I’m still going with DeAnna.

The Hills November 12, 2007

November 12, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Blogging as I watch…

"We’ll handle the situation accordingly."  I love when Whitney says things like that.  I think because I’d say something like that.  Boy this is going to be a GREAT drama-show.

JT!

OK, that was weird.  Same exact comment by Lauren and Heidi about it being the first event not working.

What was with Justin Bobby’s boots?  Yuck.

I do not like dreds.

LOL after JB’s burp.  That look on his face was great.

What. does. Audrina. see. in. him?

Oooo, they see each other.

Oooo, Lauren completely snubs her.

Wow.  What a backbone.  I could never do that.

So, uh yeah, I have to work with Sean Kingston today too.  Kayne West also.  Oh, and a little coffee in the afternoon with Alicia Keys.  Cause my job is cool like that.

I love that Audrina’s coworker (what is her name?) won’t let her call Justin Bobby.

Spencer!  Back her up!!!  Gosh that boy gets on my nerves.

Commercial, go away, I want to see the talk!

Flowers?  Seriously?  "You are very clean…did a maid come??" Seriously?  She’s starting off with that?

"This is the person you want to marry for the rest of your life?"   THAT’S WHAT I’VE BEEN SAYING.

"I want to forgive you and I want to forget you."  Wow.  That was harsh.  Really harsh.  Heidi set herself up for that but wow.

Previews:

Cancelled wedding?!  Yes!!!

Target Complaint

November 12, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I heart Target.  Seriously.  I can’t remember the last time I was at Wally World and I’m perfectly fine with that.  But today I was very unhappy with them.  The girls got several gifts for the birthday that were exact duplicates for what they already have and then a few that were too old for them.  So I decided to take some stuff back.  This was during the potty training excursion today so I thought I would use the money to pay for all that stuff.  I had over $40 in toys to take back.  But get this.  The lady tells me since I had no receipt, the rule is that you can only use your driver’s license two times and each visit can only be up to $20.  Well, apparently I have used up my limit this year and they wouldn’t let me take back a single thing.

Fabulous.

And two of those toys are exclusive to Target and they’re the ones we have exact duplicates of.

I don’t understand the reasoning for these rules and I don’t like them.  If it’s obvious the stuff was bought at Target, they should take it back.  No matter what.

So now I don’t know what to do with my stuff.  My choices at this point are donate them to one of our families this year for the angel tree, sell on ebay, sell at work or re-gift this year to someone that wasn’t at the birthday party which will be hard since just about everyone we give gifts to were there.

So that is strike 1 against Target and it’s a big one.  Sorry, Tar-jay.  I still heart you.

And this would be a great opportunity to tell you Jaynee is giving away a gift card from there.  So go comment and good luck.  I think 😉

Training Day Results

November 12, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

After lunch today when we got back from Target and the dentist, we got serious about the potty training.  I set an alarm and every 15 minutes we’d go and try.

The bad:

  • Lexi peed on the floor I think 4 or 5 times I think.  And the last two times she said "I have to pee!" but only to find that was her way of seeing "I just peed on the floor!"
  • Lexi never went in the potty.
  • Lexi was begging for a pull up by the end of the day.

The good:

  • I’m not a frazzled mess.  It was frustrating, yes, but I didn’t lose my cool.
  • Emma successfully went #2 several times and of course for every #1.  Yay for Emma!
  • The M&M’s were a big deal to both of them.  A couple times Lexi didn’t even want to sit on the potty but the M&M’s convinced her.
  • Lexi did sit on the potty every time.  Before today she wouldn’t even sit on the big potty.  In fact, she was very, very excited to tell and show everyone possible about her new potty.
  • Lexi progressed during the day…she first learned that she shouldn’t be wearing her panties while she was sitting on the potty and then learned she didn’t need to take them completely off at the bathroom door.  By bedtime tonight, she was just pulling them down enough to sit on the potty.  Listen, I’m going with every positive I can come up with.
  • I also do count it progress that she at least said in some way she had peed on the floor.  At least she showed some sort of emotion about the accident.

I wouldn’t call today a failure but I wouldn’t exactly call it success either.  I would feel WAY better if Lexi had gone at least once at any point today.  But this has to be done, so from now on while we’re at home, we’ll be doing this.

I can’t wait to see the search stats from this post…
