Bucky Covington

April 18, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Bucky’s album came out today and I got to listen to the whole thing.  I was shocked and amazed.  He sounded REALLY good on there.  Not all the songs were great songs but he has a fantastic recording voice.  His voice reminded me of George Strait but it’s very distinct.  He may not be the best performer/dancer ever but I think he should get some good radio hits out of this one.  Really impressed.  Maybe because my expectations weren’t high, I’m not sure, but it’s worth checking out.

AI Top 8? 7?

April 18, 2007 by Amy 2 Comments

Tonight was interesting.  Went well for some, bad for others.

Phil – wow, my very favorite performance of his.  maybe he won’t go this week after all and maybe he does have a career in front of him

Jordin – i don’t know if it was my favorite. she faltered there in the chorus somewhere but i love how she isn’t holding back.

Lakisha – i’m so off this train.  i don’t want her to go soon, but i don’t want her to win either.

Melinda – wow.  amazing.  does she know how to tell a story or what?  i love simon’s comment about tina turner.

Chris R. – poor guy.  i wanted to give him a hug.  i didn’t really like the song or the performance.  he sounded too nasally to me too.

Sanjaya – that could have been good.  and if he had pulled that one out, he would have easily made top 5.  but his voice was weak.  and bad.  some of it hurt.  please go this week.

Blake – in the words of randy…not sure if it was my fay-vorite performance of yours ever, but you did your thing, dawg.

go blake!

Daughtry’s Home Video

April 18, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

So the new video was debuted on MTV TRL today.  I didn’t remember it but I checked it out on mtv.com tonight.  And I’m in it somewhere!  At the end, it slowly pans the audience and it shows exactly where I was standing.  I just need a really big tv screen and a pause button to actually pick myself out lol.

Day 9 complete – he’s home!

April 17, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

st1.jpgYay, Daddy’s home!  S and I ended up taking our two vans up to the airport to get them.  We had a hard time finding it as the screen was not very descriptive of where to find arriving international flights.  So Scott was headed from the opposite of baggage claim when the girls saw him. So they did the whole running to and hugging him thing.  It was sweet.  Lexi didn’t let him go for a good 10 minutes.  Then it was back to mommy.  Such a mommy’s girl.

st3.jpgSo the trip went well.  No “big stories” to tell. They were able to give about 30 packages away and go into some places no missionary has been before but I believe that was about it.  Scott is horrid on details so maybe when I hear the story from someone else, it will be more dramatic.  lol.  He couldn’t quit talking about how beautiful the country was and how friendly everyone was.

And he brought back lots of goodies.  I got 3 or 4 shirts, a dress, a skirt, a bracelet, ring and pillow covers.  I was incredibly impressed he clothing shopped for me with a bunch of guys.  Go Scott!  I love getting stuff I can use though from trips.  No random trinkets for me, thanks.  He brought the girls handmade necklaces and purses.  They loved their “real” necklaces.

st2.jpgSo his parents ended up coming over here to fix dinner which worked out much better.  Scott’s eyes were drooping around 7 which was 2am his time and he had been up since 4:30 am his time.  Needless to say he’s been in bed.  The girls kept wanting to sit with him and even wanted to lay in bed with him after he went to sleep.  Lexi moreso than Emma.  Sweet girls missed their daddy, that’s for sure.

Tomorrow he’s already back to work having to do the prom talk at the high school.  He doesn’t actually go back on shift until Friday.  So we have a little bit of time to get back in the groove of things.  It’s good to have him home.

Parents moving

April 17, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

We moved a lot when I was a kid.  I think it was 9 places we moved including a small tent for 6 weeks at Jim Bakker’s PTL campgrounds (that’s another story).  The house they are in now, they have been in for 17 years almost, since I was 12.  So this past week my parents have decided to move to the “other side of Fort Mill”.  I can not believe my mom is willing to sell.  But both me and my sister are on this side of town and so is her shop.  And now that this side of town and Rock Hill is growing up, we aren’t running to Charlotte all the time for shopping and food.  I love being on this side of town.  Scott and I’s first house was on the other side also.  So they went to see a house today they really like and Heather is going with them tomorrow to see it.  It will be really weird for them to move so I´m going to call Shiply, a great moving company, to help them move out the large items in their house.  I had A LOT of firsts in that house and a lot of memories.  I think I will actually miss it if they move.

Bachelor

April 17, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Surprised he kept Tessa after the heart to heart with Peyton.  I thought other girls deserved to go before either of them, markedly Stephanie from SC.  My favorites are sticking..Danielle, Bevin…except Amber, we didn’t see much of her this week.  She seems to be the center of some MAJOR drama next week so I guess she’ll be back in the picture.

Heather came to watch it with me.  She hasn’t watched it yet this season.  She was immediately hooked.  Haha.  I really do think this is my favorite bachelor.  He’s just so cute!

Dancing with the Stars

April 17, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I had a feeling Apollo was going to be great.  They were FANTASTIC tonight.

I didn’t think Joey was feminine at all.

My other favorite, Ian, I missed.

I don’t like the boxer girl L something.  She was hot tonight but I hate her attitude.

Poor Billy Ray.  I saw him walk off stage as soon as it was over, actually before it was over.  He was devastated.

Day 8

April 17, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Almost done with this Turkey trip!   Counting hours now, not days.  I think their plane takes off from Turkey to Germany in less than an hour if I have this figured right.

Today was ok.  A little tougher than last week.  I kind of was breaking down about 3pm.  Lexi was really tired from school and wouldn’t take a nap and I had Skyler here for a little while and we had problems at work and my house was a mess again and I was sort of losing it.  But we got out of the house when I quit working and Lexi fell asleep and Skyler had gone by then so I got the house picked up.  And I got work fixed before I left so it all got better.  I was optimistic the other night but today, I’m ready for Scott to come home.  Really.  I can’t wait to hug him.  I think I might cry when I see him.  I’m so excited.  And the girls are excited.  Emma said, is he going to be in bed when we wake up in the morning.  Aww.  She’s used to him sleeping work off from night shift.  She is ready for him to come home for sure.

No more updates from them except they said they will call on the way from the airport and we’ll meet them at the church.  Woo!  Can’t wait!
