My Day and Kids Story

January 28, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

As my mother pointed out, I missed a day posting yesterday.  Looks like since giving her the site last year, she’s finally taken to it  (hey, mom!).

So Sunday could be summed up as church and CVS.  I got a really good deal at CVS which I’ll post about next.

Today is just the norm.  Working, kids back and forth to school, etc.  And since this is really turning out to be a boring post and the reason I didn’t post yesterday, I’ll tell you a conversation Emma and Lexi had the other night in bed that had me laughing listening to them…

Lexi was crying because she didn’t want to be in bed.  Emma has a habit of doing something really silly so Lexi will laugh and quit crying.  I heard Emma doing just that and Lexi was cackling.  Emma I guess finally got tired of it and wanted to go to sleep and she said, “Lexi!  OK, I made you laugh now quit. ”  Lexi I guess kept laughing and then Emma said, “I’m serious, Lexi, it’s time to go to sleep.”

Lazy Day

January 26, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Today was an officially lazy day.  MIL didn’t get the girls last night and Scott worked all day today so it was the 3 of us at home for most of the day.  We didn’t even roll out of bed until 9:30 and then by the time we did breakfast, exercising, shower, play time, it was noon by the time we were ready for the day.  I played with the girls on and off while doing very, very light cleaning.  I actually stopped a time or two to catch a few minutes of tv which I never do on Saturdays.

By the time Scott got home at 4:30 I felt like the day was a bit wasted but he said I probably needed a day off, which was probably true.  We went out to the cafeteria with Mom and Dad and by the time we got home, the girls went to bed.  Since then, I filmed my little video for the Weekend in Wilmington One Tree Hill contest (no, I still can’t believe I actually did it), finished up my reading for today and now am watching Bring It On: In it to win it.  So far it’s quite a dumb movie and I really hope Heather was not trying to dupe me in to watching a bad movie (again).

Tomorrow is plan-less as well but the CVS deals are shaping up to be good so I’m seeing a trip in store for me.   Before I know it it’s going to be another Monday morning on the horizon.

Extreme Makeover – Every Day

January 26, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

I really don’t know why I’m doing this except so you get to know a little more about me and I have way too much time on my hands today.  And I always think about how we ooh and ahh over the stars but really, with a beauty entourage like they have, no wonder they look so good.

Some people can look good without makeup and air-drying their hair.  I’m not one of them.  Makeup and hair do-age is important.  Because when I do, it’s like a  mini Extreme Makeover every day.  The difference between these two pictures is no more than 10 minutes.

And just in case I ever get arrested, the left should give you an idea of what my picture might look like.

Ladies, don’t doubt the power of make-up and hair products.

27 Dresses Review

January 26, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

images.jpgYesterday evening J&M and I went to see 27 Dresses with Katherine Heigl. I had heard it was good but honestly I wasn’t expecting it to be THAT good. I guess when you hear from so many people how good it is, you get your hopes built up and then it’s a bit of a disappointment.

This movie was far from a disappointment though. The storyline was interesting and even surprising a time or two. Katherine’s character was so funny and the romantic part wasn’t too cheesy. I think my favorite line was Katherine saying, “Yes, I’m perfect. I’m Jesus.” Total throwback to her line in Grey’s Anatomy when she yells, “Because it’s what Jesus would freakin’ do!” Except this one was done with dry humor which was surprising and funny. I guess in some ways it was predictable. She falls for the guys she hates before knowing who he really is (can we say “You’ve Got Mail”), she starts to fall for him, he screws up and then they make up. But it worked.  And let’s just face it, staring at James Marsden on the big screen being very witty and charming is probably reason enough to see it.

This movie is on my list of movies to buy and that doesn’t happen often. Go see it if you get a chance!

Thankfulness is never too late right?

  • Thankful that Dad’s condition was caught.
  • Thankful that Dad’s procedure went well.
  • Thankful that Mom insisted on him going to the doctor.
  • Thankful for such wonderful doctors and nurses there.
  • Thankful for my new elliptical so I can keep my heart healthy.

Update on Dad

January 24, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Heather and I went up to the hospital today for Dad’s catheter.  After only 45 minutes back there, they came to tell us they were done with putting the stent in which we weren’t expecting until tomorrow.  He had 85-90% blockage in his main artery but the others looked ok.  He is in recovery now and we’re home for a little bit until they get in a room and we can take the girls up.  He’s doing really well now, already wanting to come home. That’s when the hard part starts though…taking his medicine every day, exercising and eating right…(right, Dad?!).

Thanks for all the prayers, we appreciate every single one.

Changes are starting

January 24, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

I knew the changes were going to come to our youth group but yesterday’s surprised me.  I met with K before church yesterday and basically we’re scrapping our entire web site and boiling it down to a one pager.  Part of me bristled at the idea.  I mean, I worked HARD on the current web site.  But part of me knows that it’s not used like it could be and it really could be boiled down to a lot less than it is.  I should look at it as on opportunity to develop a web site, learn something new and move on.

Under the advisement of G who has helped take over the band, we’re going to scrap the live band and sing to tracks for awhile while the band practices until they are more sure of themselves.  I’m good with this as it needs done but it will be kind of weird doing it.  Last night I didn’t sing as a new youth visitor has stepped in since last week and she has an AWESOME voice.  Besides timing issues, they were great last night.  I felt like the mother bird in the back of the room pushing them out of my nest.

Looks like there’s changes in the horizon on the Sunday School front as well but they may not come until the fall with the new church year.

I always like to say I’m progressive and don’t mind change a bit but I’d say my gut reaction to yesterday told a different story.
