RIP, SLVR

I was so excited to get my SLVR last year and I really have loved it since I’ve had it but alas, it seems the toilet water did it in. The best things about it are how thin it is and the iTunes feature. But really, a few things need upgraded on it. The camera is HORRIBLE. And I’d really like to browse the Internet away from my computer like a normal person and not in Orange and white menus with just a little bit of text. I keep saying I’m going to get an iPhone but do you realize those things are $400 WITH a contract? THEN you have to up your plan to pay for all the texting and browsing you’re going to do. Just not cool. I’m way too cheap for that. Or maybe not, I can’t decide. I’m looking at other options.

So, I have to ask…anyone just LOVE their phone? I don’t like flip phones, I want a good camera, I would love a full keyboard but it’s not necessary and want a REAL browser. I know I’m being picky but anyone have any suggestions? Any iPhone users that can post on their experience?

Ultimate Blog Party

Since I am so good at jumping on bandwagons, I’m going to jump on this Ultimate Blog Party one. So, for those visiting from there, welcome!

First, this is the family:

A few things about me:

That is Scott, Emma (5), Lexi (3). We live in South Carolina.
I’m on the computer 24-7 it seems. I work from home as a computer programmer for a large bank.
I blog. A lot. Here and at a fan blog for One Tree Hill. This blog is now six years old so I don’t think anything’s changing about this blogging thing.
I’m very involved with our church…choir, Sunday School, youth worker, etc. We go to a Baptist church but I grew up in a Church of God.
Some of my hobbies include shopping, reading and um, blogging.

What you’ll hear about here:

My day. Some of those posts are boring, but I do journal about what I’ve done during the day or my plans for the next one.
Ongoing issues or projects such as the current one of us getting hardwoods ordered and installed or me freaking out about Emma going to Kindergarten.
TV. My favorite shows are One Tree Hill, Grey’s Anatomy, Lost, American Idol, The Bachelor, Desperate Housewives, The Office and House. I tend to blog about them intermittently.
Funny stuff my kids say.
New things my kids do.
PPP. I do some paid posts around here but lately it hasn’t been too much.
Memes. I do a few a week…WFMW, Thankful Thursday and sometimes Friday’s Feast and my own Sunday Scripture.
Anything else…this is the blog of my life! There’s not really much I don’t share.

Work is so busy today. I have so many things I need to be doing so I’ll make this short. Three very important newsworthy events to report *snort*

I think I decided I’m going to repaint everything when we put the floor down.
I took the girls at 8:30 this morning to our new Wal-Mart. They need to get some advice from Chick-fil-a on how to properly open a new store.
My cellphone dropped into our toilet this morning from my back pocket after returning to Wal-Mart. Can we say Hello, iPhone!

I was contacted today by a reader who is also a local mom on a forum I go to who is also an employee of our local paper (Hey, J!). And guess what? She wants me to talk to a reporter about my OTH site. Really. She talked about getting the scoop on how it started, where I get the info from, etc. And I guess from the perspective of I’m a mom running a web site behind the scenes as a hobby. Anyway, I gave her my number and we’ll see. I’m really excited about it but we’ll see what comes of it.

I see hardwoods in our future

Actually, I see a lot of work in our future. Scott just went to Home Depot to order our hardwoods. Yippee!! The kids are actually headed to the beach next weekend with IL’s and SIL and we realized it’s the perfect opportunity to tear apart the house and work hard on it. We’re planning on doing the kitchen (including The guys said the other night it would take 7-14 days to get it in but I’m hoping we can pay a tad extra to make sure it’s in by next week. We are not spending nearly as much as we thought on it so I don’t mind making the installation as easy as possible. Home Depot doesn’t have it on their site or I’d link to it but we’re getting Handscraped Elm in a Walnut color. I’m so excited!

*Bad news..he just got back and we can’t hurry the process up and it may be 2 weeks before we get it. Oh well.

This morning we were awakened by a serious cry from Lexi in the bedroom. I thought maybe she’d fallen off the bed or something. I listened for a few more seconds and determined it was more of a “Emma just took my toy” kind of cry so I told her to come in my room. She did, still crying and crawled in bed beside me. I asked what was wrong and she wouldn’t tell me at first and in a teenage-like angst said, “Emma won’t be my best-est friend!” Poor thing. She’s said this a couple times when Emma doesn’t want to play a game or go somewhere Lexi wants to go. I had Emma come in the room and had them “make up” but I’m telling you, Lexi LOVES her big sissy.
