Quotes

It’s not enough to know about God, we need to know God.

It’s amazing when we spend time with God, what we’re willing to ask of Him. And it’s amazing when we do ask him, he answers.

When we experience God, it changes us and people see it.

We have to schedule mountain moments.

We get busy worshipping the creation, not the Creator.

Quotes

You can’t run from God and he’s kind enough that he doesn’t let you.

I always found a way out of the hard instead of through it. So, I didn’t have to deal with it, but I also didn’t get the benefits of it.

You survive it by finding the beautiful things in the hard.

I eat salad everyday. I’m not trying to get in a bikini, I just want my brain to work.

I’m going to tell you my answers, but you need to find your answers.

When you don’t feel your feelings they bottle up and they come out in different ways.

Stopping is not the same as quitting.

Here’s the message: find the things that are the knots in the rope that will help you get through and then purposely go after those.

Quotes

I remember clearly in my heart God saying, “I brought you here to be a bridge.”

We need to listen, not to respond, but really listen.

Meet people that don’t look like you and listen to them and share with them. That’s where it begins.

It’s hard to have those conversation when everyone looks like you and thinks like you.

Developing a heart for it starts in prayer. Nothing that we do is going to happen apart from prayer.

Our humanity shows us the value God has for diversity. We are all created in his image. What if we viewed each other in that way?

Racism is sin and we have to call it what it is.

It’s stealing God’s glory because it’s not showing how and who God is.

What if we all started looking at each other as image bearers.

We want to do our best while we’re here.

We have more alike than differences.

Scripture

I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one—  I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. John 17:22-23

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. Revelation 7:9

Quotes

If we’re going to be used by the Lord, it begins with a relationship with Jesus.

The way to live life with no regrets is to know intimately the one who put you on the planet.

When we’re sharing the gospel, we can’t make it palatable. They have to agree that their sin is keeping them from a relationship with God.

I had to come to a place of resisting my pride and realized I didn’t have God’s heart for the lost.

God sent a stranger to talk to my brother and my brother accepted Christ two weeks later.

God nudged me “Will you be that stranger?” “I will be if you bring me the strangers.”

Jesus sat at the well and asked the Samaritan woman for water.

God still gives them an opportunity to hear the Gospel so that are without excuse.

God put you in this position for such a time as this.

It takes boldness and asking for boldness.

Scripture

Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. 1 Peter 3:15

They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. Revelation 12:11

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9

For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Philippians 2:13

Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. Titus 2:3-5

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

Quotes

Even when life is horrible–because it’s going to be sometimes. Everybody’s going to have different trials–it reminds us in the midst of that trial, we can rejoice in the Lord and we can have joy in God.

When you’re in that moment of every second feels like a million years, you just want to get rid of the pain, in any way possible.

I learned that we can still trust him. Yeah, it really sucks when he uses bad things in our lives to teach us good things, but we can still trust him and it’s remembering eternity, these trials will be gone and we’ll be with Jesus in heaven and that’s going to last for eternity. This life, even if it feels like pain dragging on for a millions years, some day it will be over and we will be in this beautiful place and it will be worth it. This is not our home.

Scripture

Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.

Habakkuk 3:17

FeathersiTunes2-300

In this episode, I interview Courtney Stanford.

Courtney Stanford is a passionate follower of Jesus and the writer of her blog, Let Every Heart at CourtneyStanford.com.  Her husband, Bret is the Worship Pastor of their church where Courtney teaches an adult Sunday School class and leads the church’s women’s ministry.  Formerly, Courtney was an elementary school teacher but currently is the stay-at-home mom of her three little boys, ages 2, 5, and 6.  Courtney jokingly refers to her {sometimes noisy} home of boys as a “frat house” but finds moments of quiet in good books, sweet tea, and Bible study.  She attains “girl time” by hosting a weekly “mom’s playgroup” or coffee dates for friends, and by encouraging women to focus on Jesus in every season through her blog, Let Every Heart.

CourtneyStanfordPost

Courtney shares her obedience in going on a short-term missionary trip and the struggle in leaving her young children. She shares how God used the trip to knit her heart and give her a long-term relationship to the people of Haiti.

Quotes

Life can be short. Once that happened to my husband, I realized that could happen to any of us. That could happen to me.

I want to fully, fully live.

You’re going to learn as you go. Before I would have been afraid to fail. I want to fail a little bit so I can grow and learn and see this progress.

Everybody starts somewhere.

Courage doesn’t come because you are big, strong, or without fear. Courage comes because you aren’t big, you aren’t strong, you do fear but you don’t give up! Andrew Heard

The pride we have doesn’t come from the outside, but from the wonder of the work done on the inside. – Andrew Heard

When we do the inner work, the outer work begins to fall in place.

Sometimes you have to look from a higher perspective to see what’s going on. – Andrew Heard

Scripture

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind 2 Timothy 1:7

Quotes

When your plans aren’t working like you want them to, you’re grasping at the strands that are left, just hoping you can have a taste of that dream.

I was attempting to establish my own steps trying to walk toward this goal I had come up with in my mind.

When we surrender to God, He gives us the true desires of our hearts.

He wooed me in. He didn’t rip me out of a dream.

The enemy came in with fear.

I should have known where he was attacking me at is where God was going to use me.

“Tell me what I should do because what I’m doing is grasping at the wind and it’s not working.”

I knew if I was praying wtihout ceasing I could more clearly hear the voice of the Father.

He has called us to stay in constant communication with Him and that’s how we walk out the way he Has for us.

Yes, we can do all things in Christ, but that doesn’t mean we are called to do all things.

I thought I could do it all. He called me to rest and lay down my busyness.

Our obedience is rewarded day by day.

When we’re trying to both, we’re never satisfied.

We can’t serve ourselves and the Lord at the same time.

The lie of the enemy is that we’re not good enough, that God can’t use us. We are very quick to pick up a lie of the enemy and slow to pick up truth.

It starts with laying down our ambitions.

When you look back, you say, what took me so long to get here?

We can do things afraid.

Surrender it immediately.

Scripture

In their hearts humans plan their course,
but the Lord establishes their steps. Proverbs 16:9

Pray continually 1 Thessalonians 5:17
