ebay scams

November 13, 2006 by Amy 1 Comment

I could have been scammed TWICE this weekend through ebay.  It has now cost me over $10 because of fees.  The first said he was going to pay with Western Union and have the box picked up through DHL.  Well, it came time for DHL to pick it up and the money had not cleared.  I cancelled the pickup and emailed the guy.  Then realized he was no longer a user with ebay and emailed him and said it was a scam and I wasn’t shipping it.  He never emailed me back.

So I put another laptop yesterday.  I guy bought it overnight and said he would pay through paypal.  He used to live in NC, was in Australia now and wanted the laptop shipping to his grandson in Nigeria and would have FedEx pick up the box.  Yeah right.  Just google Nigeria and ebay and you’ll see. So I emailed the guy and said I would not accept payment and would not be shipping it to him.

What is with these people?!  It’s terrible!

Catch up

November 7, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

So we had a great time in Maryland.  Had a fun leaf pile fight on Thursday.  Friday Mom, Heather and Grandma took the kids shopping and then we had a small, small party for Lexi’s party.

Saturday evening we had the big party for the whole family.  It was like Christmas they got so much stuff and almost everyone was there.  It was really nice to see everyone.

The ride home was ok.  I got really car-sick which I am not used to.  Lexi was a nightmare in restaurants.  I mean, really, really bad.  Actually, she was that way all weekend out.

I’m going to work tomorrow.  First full day since Scott got hurt.  Shouldn’t be bad for him.  They have school in the morning and then his mom will come get them.  We’re already planning a Mexican lunch.  Yumm, can’t wait.

I voted today.  Go vote if you haven’t and it’s not too late!!

Odds and ends

October 25, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

This week has been SLOW.  I don’t think I’ve gotten showers until lunch or after.  Work is slow.  We’ve done barely anything really since the lock-in last Thursday.  Last night just the four of us went to get Japanese which was a half-pleasant experience.  I only say half-pleasant because Lexi was wanting to get out of the seat until the food got there and then I spent the whole time telling Emma to eat or asking Lexi to eat, etc.  And then, to top it off, I went to the restroom at the end and dropped my keys in the toilet.  It was clean water and I hadn’t gone yet.  I stared down at the keys and I was like, that’s $250 sitting down there, I’ve got to get it out.  So yes, I reached IN the water to get them out and rinsed them as best as I could.  Oh well.  But the girls ate pretty good while they ate and I was able to finish my meal.  So that’s good.

Scott and I have been playing Scrabble almost nightly the past few days.  I LOVE Scrabble although I usually lose.  However, I managed a 100 point win last night over him.  Usually my sister gets in on our games if she’s here but it’s just been us this week.  Which is kind of nice.  Because we actually are doing something together that is not required and it’s just for fun.  And it’s at home.  Well, I can think of one more thing like that we do, but hey, this isn’t THAT type of blog.  LOL.

In other news, Lexi has thrown up a couple times in the past 5 days.  Saturday morning was random but I think it was due to a bunch of Sprite she drank Friday night which she has never done and then yogurt on top of that.  She was fine all weekend and then threw up a good bit Monday night.  And of course that was red kool-aid.  And then she had some more of that kool-aid Tuesday morning and threw up a little more.  And then she was fine.  So I think that was due to the stir-in red kool-aid stuff she’s never had.  Anyway, she’s eaten chicken, fruit, crackers, pop-tarts and stuff since then so she seems fine and it doesn’t seem like a virus.

Next Wednesday we have decided to go to Maryland until the next Sunday.  Whoo Hoo!  I’m technically out of vacation except for a few hours I intend to take at Christmas when we go up so I will be working from up there.   Bummer, but what else can I do?  At least it will be different and I will be able to see family.

Lexi’s birthday is next Friday so we’re having a double-party for them while we’re up there.  My [extended] family never gets to see them on their birthdays so I think it’s pretty cool.  Although my ILs didn’t seem to like the idea.  But I never apologize when it comes to that because they get to see them like 3 times a year and if they situations were reversed, it would be the same for them.

Monday I am taking snacks to Lexi’s class for her birthday.  Hopefully this won’t be one of those things that stresses me.  I was thinking about getting Emma to decorate some cookies and maybe taking all the kids some bubbles or something.  I mean, what do 18mo-2 yr olds really want??  Half of them will not even realize what is going on.  I’m hesitant to go in her room.  I’m afraid she’ll have a fit when I leave if I go into her classroom. But I would really like to see how things work around there so I’m going to try to go.  Not sure how that will work with my work but I’m going to try.  Especially since usually drop her off at 8:45 and they don’t eat snack until 9:40.  Maybe I’ll just take in the snacks.  Who knows.

Scott hurt at work

October 4, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

This morning I woke up at 5:15am, rolled over and saw Scott standing beside our bed with a sling on his right arm.  I jumped out of bed asking what had happened.  He just said come on, corporal is in the living room.  I followed him out still asking what had happened.  I said a quick hello to corporal–and thank goodness I had my cute pj’s on, lol–and still asked Scott what was going on.  He said they were at a road check and a guy bush bonded and he went after him.  Apparently he slipped on some very wet asphalt (supposedly there was a sprinkler nearby), he fell putting 75% of his body weight on his shoulder where he landed.  He broke his collarbone.  The guy was caught and charged.  Scott went to a local clinic, had x-rays and the bone is definitely split in 2 he said.  Scott was getting whoosy from the pain shots he’d been given and was starting to mumble and not make much sense.  Corporal and I looked at each other and were like, ok, time for you to go to bed.  He didn’t protest too much but I did convince him to call his mom and dad.  And I called my mom.  I sort of wished he had called me on the way to the dr but he was right in the fact that I couldn’t have done anything except worry.  It’s a good thing Corporal didn’t show up at my door.  I might have fainted.  I rarely, rarely and I mean rarely ever worry about Scott at work.  Most people say if they were me, they’d worry all the time.  I don’t know, something about knowing even if something happened, it happened doing what he loved makes it ok.  And I know he has lots of angels around him.  And God does give me that peace that lets me not be eat alive with worry.  Part of me thought, oh, Emma and I didn’t pray for Daddy last night but I knew that God protected him from something even worse happening.  What about a broken back or neck or even if the guy had a gun, he could have been shot.  So today I’m thankful he’s at home with me and I’m being a very good nurse.  I’m so proud of him.  Today I kind of got a new perspective on police (firefighters, emt, etc).  He chased after that guy and every time he goes out, he stops people and chases people all for the good of the people.  So thanks to all our hard workers and my husband who take care of us all.

Ice

February 8, 2002 by Amy Leave a Comment

I hate ice in my cup. Especially the small crunchy kind that’s similar to an icee.
And I really hate it when you put a drink in the freezer and then some of it freezes and you have frozen pieces of the drink floating around. It’s just annoying. It gets in my face and I don’t like the feeling of it crunching when a piece gets in my mouth. So, at any time possible, I use a straw. I have one of those nifty fifties-style straw dispensers at my house. So, what’s so quirky about this? I love Hawaiian-tropic snow cones and those Mountain Dew slushies you buy in gas stations. And you can’t try to make them your self because then the ice is just like that really small annoying crunchy kind of ice. But for some reason, the ice in a snow cone and slushie you buy is much softer and melts almost as soon as you get it in your mouth.
