Red Shirt

December 5, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

So my sister doesn’t get off work until 8 on Mondays.  As I mentioned yesterday, Scott’s work party is tonight and I really wanted something new to wear to the party.  So I begged her to go to the mall last night which doesn’t close until 10 during the holidays.  So we left to crying babies at the front door and headed out.  I was really disappointed with a couple stores but this new store that they have in other malls in the area, Forever 21.  Very cheap prices.  They have these long dresses in there, sort of vintage-70’s type look.  Empire waist, long to the floor and flowy.  I bought one of them that will probably have to wait until spring to wear but I could see myself wearing that EVERY day.  It was so comfortable and really cute.

I finally found an acceptable shirt at Express and they had their jeans on sale AND I had a $15 off coupon.  So even though I still left the store with a $75 bill, I do feel better that both of them were on sale.  My shirt is just red, v-neck, satin shirt with a empire waist and a tie around the back.  Hopefully my white pants are not at the cleaners and I can wear those and black shoes and a black necklace to dress it up a little.

So yay!  I get to dress up and go out tonight!

Jeep “fixed”

December 4, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

OK, so I think our vehicle situation has been temporarily suspended.  After talking with a hobby-mechanic friend they figured out that we do not need to be giving the Jeep gas when we start it (as we had been giving abundantly) because we keep flooding it.  Hence the reason it work again in a few hours.  So since then, we have driven it without issue back and forth several places.  It doesn’t really solve our issue for when I go to work but now that he has a half-decent back up for me to leave here if I take the van, I think we are back-burning the idea of buying another vehicle.

Catch up

December 4, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

The end of last week and the weekend seemed busy.  I worked over on Thursday and Friday and in the evening Scott and I were having, uh, issues. I don’t really want to go into them but they weren’t fun and I was not happy.  We have worked through our issues over the weekend and while it’s not a non-issue yet, we have made steps to make it better.

Friday night the girls stayed with MIL and Saturday we woke up just in time to get up and go to the town parade. I’m not sure if I wrote about it last year but I complained about the parade last year.  It was so ridiculously short–like 8 minutes long.  The band was in jeans and t-shirts and it was just pathetic.  My article was actually published in the paper.  So I sort of HAD to go to the parade.  Especially since Emma was actually IN the parade this year.  She rode with my SIL and niece in the rescue squad suburban.  She seemed to have a good time.  But the parade was SO long with 99 entries and lasting 1 hour and 10 minutes.  Yeah.  So I don’t know if anyone read my article last year but it I’d like to think it helped.  It wa actually overwhelmingly long.  Even Mrs. South Carolina showed up.  All the local bands, girl/boy scout groups, rescue squads, fire stations, and even lots of businesses.  It was really great.

So Saturday night we went to Jaynee’s Christmas party.  We didn’t know if we would go to the last minute.  I didn’t want to ask MIL to keep them since they had had them the past 24 hours and my mom and sister were working on their work party that was Sunday night.  I was going to go solo but MIL heard Scott and I talking about it at Target and volunteered to keep them, so we took advantage of it.  We had a good time.  The food was great and everyone seemed really nice.  I ended up with my own gift from the exchange but the gifts were slim pickins and I was next to last with only Scott’s gift left under the tree and my mugs being the only gift I wanted to steal so I went for it.  Scott ended up with a folksy-metal flower wall hanging which everyone laughed at but we now have hanging in the kids play room. Not sure what that means really but we think it’s cute.

Sunday was church as usual and also Mom’s Christmas party.  That was lots of good food too.  We left the girls there for about 1 1/2 hr while we went to a youth leaders meeting with the seniors in our group.  We had A LOT of fun.  They are old enough to pretty much be adults.  They only have 6 months left of high school but they are young enough to really let go still have fun.  I hope we get to go on the trip they are going on in Jan/Feb for the “top 15” (they earn points by attending, bringing friends, etc).

Last night we also caught up on a few Season 1 episodes from The Office that Jaynee let us borrow. I laughed.  A lot.  It’s a great tv show.  After 3 episodes in a row though it was a little much.  Only can handle so much of all that GREAT comedy he does lol.  I definitely plan to catch up on all the seasons and watch the current ones too.

So this week will be REALLY busy with work.  I have so much to do.  Friday is a HUGE implementation.  We’ve been working on this project for well, years.  Part of it was implemented back in September but we are basically having to redo that part to fix some issues and then do the second part also.  It’s going to be a long, arduous process this weekend.

Also this week is Scott’s work party tomorrow night.  I have no idea what I’m wearing but I’d REALLY like to buy something new.  We are also having a catillion with the youth group that is formal and I’d REALLY like to buy a new dress.  We’ll see though.  It seems like we are running out of time before Christmas.  Exactly 3 weeks left!  Unbelievable!!

Scott-less

November 29, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

So it’s day 3 of Scott working all days.  I know this is normal for A LOT of people that their husbands work M-F all day but Scott hasn’t done that in years.  And none since I started working at home.  But really, it has been a great week.  I don’t know if my mom is praying a lot for us or I’ve prepared myself mentally (and organizationally) for this but it’s been great, really.  I don’t mind taking the kids to school.  They’ve been so well behaved at home.  No major messes to clean up.  No fighting.  Not even much whining.  But I’ve only had one conference call and Lexi was asleep then so that helps.  And I’ve gone to the gym both nights which has really helped get some energy out.  I’m sore, but it feels great.  I feel like I haven’t seen him much though since he’s gone all day and then I spend at least an hour gone in the evening.  He’s been so tired from getting up and he hasn’t slept well this week so we don’t even get time late at night together.  I am sure this will get old fast.  But for now, it’s good.

Vehicle Update

November 29, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

So Scott was able to drive the Jeep home yesterday and was able to drive it to work today.  He tried to change that part last night but the part store gave him the wrong one and they have to order the correct one which will be in Friday.  Hopefully I won’t have to go pick him up this afternoon and hopefully this part will buy us some time (and money) on getting a new vehicle.

Vehicle Issues

November 27, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

So our Jeep has left both Scott and I stranded seperately.  Currently it is sitting at the Highway Department.  Since he is working in the office every day now this is an issue.  For now, his sgt. is picking him up in the morning and we’re hoping it starts so he can drive himself home.  Scott really wants to buy D&D’s Durango they have for sale.  And I do really need a vehicle to drive into work when I need to so I don’t have to borrow my dad’s car when I go.  But a Durango is not good with gas and it’s really more money than I want to spend right now.  We still haven’t heard the final word on our whole ebay scam yet and that is a lot of back up money/down payment we don’t have anymore.  So I don’t know what we’ll do if we still can’t get the Jeep home tomorrow.  Scott’s friend did say that he thinks he knows what the issue is and could fix it only for $14.  Which is great.  But Scott still doesn’t want me to drive it to work so it doesn’t fix that problem.  I don’t know what we’ll do but I expect some sort of vehicle exchanging in the near future.

Bachelor

OK, it’s 10:28.  About 30 minutes before Lorenzo shows the world who he picked.  I told a coworker after the FIRST episode that Sadie was my pick and she would AT LEAST make top 5 if not win the whole thing.  I fully expect Sadie to be picked tonight and will be SHOCKED if he doesn’t.

Supposedly Lorenzo was on a Charlotte radio station today and hinted at the fact that he picked Sadie.

Seriously?? Like seriously??  I can not believe he didn’t pick Sadie.

Update

November 27, 2006 by Amy Leave a Comment

So where have I been?

I went to the office last Wednesday.  Left around 2 as a gift from the managers.  Which kind of stunk because it was the last day I will probably go to the office for awhile..more on that in a minute.

Thanksgiving day we spent lunch at Mom’s and then went home for naps and then dinner at Scott’s grandmother’s.  It was all pretty relaxing, no drama to report.

Mom kept the girls Thursday night so instead of getting up before the crack of dawn to shop Friday morning, we decided to sleep in.  Very nice.  The rest of Friday was spent getting the tree up.  Friday night we went to Sake for MIL’s birthday and came home and watched Match Point–not good.

Friday night Emma stayed with MIL so I got up Saturday and cleaned almost the whole day.  Very nice to get a bunch of it done.  Saturday night was spent watching Over the Hedge–it was ok, kids weren’t impressed much.

Sunday was a very full day at church.  The choir sang at a funeral and also started practice early for the cantata at 4.  So I really was at church all day long.

And today…oh today.  Today Scott started work back today.  He goes in 7-3 every. day.  Ugh, I’ve always claimed I couldn’t work from home without the help of Scott 2-3 days a week and I hope I prove myself wrong for at least a couple of weeks.  This morning went fine and I’m not stressed at all.  But of course it took some preparing last night.  Got their bags and outfits ready.  And I’ve had to prepare myself for having to cart the kids back and forth 3 times a week myself.  I do have to admit it’s nice having a quiet house though.  No complaining about clothes in the floor (not that there are any right now) or empty cups on tables (only 1) or having to answer computer questions or listening to loud cell phone conversations.  Yes, there are some perks.  But I’m sure it will get old fast.
