The Hair Cut

November 9, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

I think the really bad before picture from my really bad cell phone camera helps make the after look oh so much better than it is.  You can see I didn’t lose much length on the bottom but my layers around the crown/face are much, much shorter.  I’m so close to not posting this before picture because it’s just so bad, but oh well…

Busy evening/weekend

November 9, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

Last night turned out to be quite the busy evening at the last minute.

MIL called and wanted everyone to get together for FIL’s birthday yesterday so we cooked and everyone came over here.

I also called yesterday morning and made an appointment for my hair.  The last inch or so of damaged hair from my really bad blonde streak in my hair HAD to be cut out.  So the good news is my hair is nice and soft now but the bad news is the layers around my face are a little shorter than I had wanted.  Overall I’m really happy with it and I shall post some before and after pictures for your enjoyment and/or amusement whenever I finally decide to get a shower today.

M (girl that used to be in our youth group) went with me and we stopped at Starbuck’s on the way out of the mall.  Yum.  Hair cut, hair products in a bag and Starbuck’s.  Heavenly.  We headed back to the house to finish up the night by completing the weekly ritual of watching Grey’s Anatomy together.  More to come on that, but it turned out to be a great evening.

As for this weekend…Mom has the girls out now for the weekly Friday shopping/lunch date.  Tonight the girls are staying with MIL (I hope) and then tomorrow is the big birthday party.  Right now we have 17 kids plus Emma and Lexi and all the parents and family going.  I’m guessing we’ll have 40-50 people. It should be quite the event.  I’m just really glad I don’t have to clean my house, buy decorations and paper products and have people over.  I love having people over but 19 preschoolers and their parents and both sides of the family all within 200 square feet?  No thanks.

So this weekend should be busy but fun.  Especially since it will be a long one for me since we have Monday off.  Whoo Hoo!

Lullabies

November 8, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

PlayPlay

Podcast: Play in new window | Download

Well, not exactly lullabies but I decided to record myself singing the hymns/praise songs I sing to the girls at night.  I’m hoping they might like that in the future or maybe I’ll even make a DVD of it for them now.  Both girls usually settle down and almost instantly fall asleep when I take the time to sing them through.  No editing and first shot at it so don’t be cruel on the quality of my voice if you comment, I don’t take criticism well ;).

Emma’s favorite by far…Agnus Dei

One of my favorite praise songs ever… Sanctuary

And a classic… Amazing Grace

The Hills November 5, 2007

November 8, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

FINALLY mtv.com fixed their online episode.

Very sad not to see anymore Brody and Lauren in this episode.

Birthday dinner was nice of Spencer but still, they don’t seem to really get along.  I don’t like his attitude.

The fashion show went a lot better than I thought the previews made it out.  For some reason I’m amazed that Whitney and Lauren do all that at their young age. I would have been/be terrified to be in charge of all that.

And look at Justin Bobby getting jealous.

Next week looks great where Lauren and Heidi finally have it out…

Music from this week’s episode:

Test Your Reflex, I Am Alive
Fergie, Clumsy
Light FM, All Fades Away
Cartel, Burn This City
Gran Ronde, Say, Say, Say
The Sleeping, Loud and Clear
Ashley Tisdale, He Said She Said
The Ruse, Beautiful is Gone
Cobra Starship, Smile for the Paparazzi
Jordan Taylor, Shake It
Cooler Kids, All Around the World
Taxi Doll, Soft Kill
Nikki Saletta, I Want to Dance

I think I watch too much tv

November 8, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

If dreams mean anything, I think what I took from last night’s dream is that I work too much and I watch tv WAY too much.

I wish I had written down exactly what happened when I woke up because there were so many more details and a cohesive storyline but this is what I do remember:

  • Making out with Jim from The Office.  I seem to remember something about a car (viewers of Gossip Girl, you may remember Serena talking about making out in a car in last night’s episode)
  • Small storyline of me being invited to a nude work party at someone’s house.  And I was dating a guy I work with (as in someone I actually work with).  I remember hugging him in the garage (?) and then going in his house where his wife and child were.  I remember passing behind another large female coworker (which was an imaginary coworker – I don’t work with any large women) and she had no clothes on.  Once inside, I think I may have had a robe on and was playing with their child and was very friendly with his wife.  OMG, I just realized this is like The Shot on VH1 where the people took nude picture and then were walking around in a robe in between shots.
  • Then there was a second nude work party but I didn’t want to go nude so I went in underwear and a bra and then we all were in a yard sitting in a circle of lawn chairs.  I was in my bra/underwear and everyone else was in matching navy blue short and white Dunder Mifflin (!) polo shirts.  My manager (fictitious) was talking about what a bad job I was doing and I had let a request from a customer go without completing it and another coworker spoke up and said, no that should have been closed. (the closing of a ticket came from a conference call yesterday at work).

That’s all I remember and people, my brain is being fried by The Office, The Shot, Gossip Girl and too much work!

Thankful Thursday

November 8, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

  • I’m actually thankful for the time change this week and that I’m up at 7:10 and that gives me time to have a devotional in the morning and actually get clothes and makeup on before I take the kids to school.
  • I’m thankful God was able to use our guest speaker this week who lost several friends as a teenager to comfort our youth last night who lost a friend in an accident this weekend.  That’s not a coincidence.
  • I’m thankful for my girls this week as one turned another year older and one will in a few weeks.
  • I’m thankful for my job and the ability to stay home with the girls.
  • I’m thankful God is moving people in our youth council.  Not to say I’m ecstatic a couple is gone.  I’m just thankful that means He’s preparing us for the right people to do some great things.

Today, as I did last week, I just feel that "life is good".  And it feels great.

Egg Nog

November 7, 2007 by Amy Leave a Comment

First glass of egg nog for the season.  Yum, this is good.

Do you drink Egg Nog during the season?  I do.  I start early and end late.  It’s one of my favorite treats of the season.

I haven’t posted one of these Vintage Amy Posts in awhile so I pulled out my old journals and will be posting a few…

We had fun @ ML’s party.  We snuck out, but didn’t get caught.  We almost did though.  We watched Wayne’s World & Sleeping with the Enemy.  Well, let’s get to the good part.

M & I went to Carrigan Farms for Halloween with the youth group.  I saw L and went to introduce M to him.  We were down by the lake then and then went up the hill and he left. But GB, M’s dream guy stayed and talked to us.  S didn’t really hang around us that much because she was mad at M for liking G.  Anyway M and G sat beside each other after G asked her to.  I told L to sit beside me.  When the ride first started h put his arm around me and I didn’t think anything of it.  Then he started rubbing my hand.  I was getting cold and put my blanket over us.  Everybody was throwing hay everywhere so M and G put their blanket over their heads and it didn’t look very good.  But anyway, the hay was sliding, so L& I were practically lying down.  By this time we were holding hands.  And @ one point I though the had kissed me on my neck and if he didn’t, something was on my neck.  We were under the covers and he asked me if I had a boyfriend and Heather called me so I took the covers off.  I think he was going to ask me out.  Then in the van we were holding hands.  It felt like it was supposed to be, but I kept thinking about S.  I don’t think S like me, so everybody says I should like L, but I know the minute I see S, I’ll start liking him again.  I think I’ll just wait it out, I don’t know.  When L was holding my hand, it felt good to hold someone’s hand, but I don’t know if I want it to be his.

Amy!

What you should know now:

Wayne’s World!

People, please remember I was 14.  Why I embarrass myself with these, I don’t know.  But I laugh at most of it.  The really scary thing is less than two years from this date, I met Scott and have not dated anyone else.  Yeah…that’s scary stuff.

If you’ve never read any of these posts or for some reason can’t keep up with my teenage love life, I did end up "dating" L.  S and I sort of went on a date eventually but I don’t think he ever really liked me.

And yes, I really did write the word "at" with @ and really did put an exclamation point after my name when I signed it in cursive.  There are also hearts drawn around this entry.

Honestly, I really don’t remember much of anything in this post happening. I remember sneaking out of ML’s party and I think all we did is walk up and down the neighborhood streets.  I remember going to the farm and sort of remember there being a hay ride but can’t remember any of these details I mentioned.  It feels kind of weird to read about events that happened to you but you can’t remember.
