Genesis 1:1 – Revelation 22:21 – Done

March 26, 2008 by Amy 11 Comments

(picture taken by Lexi–not bad for a 3 year old)

Three days early and I’m done! I really, really did it! I read the Bible cover to cover! Yesterday I covered a lot of ground while I was stuck in bed all day sick and I was already a day or so ahead and then today I was determined to finish early. The Bible in 85 days just seems so roll off my tongue better than 87 or 88.

Do you see that smile in that picture? I’m ecstatic. I really, really am THAT happy about it. I feel a little like I’m holding a diploma of some sort.

See all those checkmarks? I really did it when I finished that section. Sometimes it was more than one a day and sometimes it was none for a couple days but I kept on trucking through it.

And the ONLY reason I’m making a big deal out of it in front of everyone is I honestly believe YOU CAN DO IT too!! And you should! This should be the first thing a Christian should do. Really. How can we say we’re Christians when we haven’t a clue of what most of His word says? Of course I believe you only have to know 1 verse (or even none probably) and can be a Christian but really, if we’re supposed to be Christ-like and Jesus is God’s Word then it seems to be a no-brainer. I really don’t know why I waited so long to do this.

I started welling up when I got to the end. Revelation was such a great book to end on. He really is coming and we really will reign eternally with Him. He’ll make a new earth and we’ll be brought together again with our families. They’ll be no more tears or hurt or anger and we get to praise Him forever. And in the meantime, He’s given us this wonderful book to read and yes, I’ll say forever that Leviticus is boring to read but that’s the Law..the same Law that He saved us from. Everything is in there for a purpose and I just can’t encourage you enough to read, read, read it!!

Wow, I think I could talk about this for quite some time but as so many of the writer’s ended their books, I will finish by saying

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen!

The day my iPhone saved me money

March 26, 2008 by Amy 2 Comments

I had Scott drop me off at the mall after getting the girls today so I could cash in on a sale I had been emailed about before it ends tomorrow.  When I went in the store it was not the same price so I asked the lady about it.  She said do you know what email it was from because we get those?  I said actually, I can pull it up for you.  So I did.  On my handy-dandy iPhone.  And I saved $2.  The end.

One Tree Hill Article

March 26, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

This is from our local paper.  When they get it online, I can link to the article so you can actually read what it says.  My favorite part??  It says I’m a “big wig in the online world of ‘One Tree Hill'”.  LOL

Where’d that come from?

March 25, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Out of nowhere, I was hit with a bad stomach virus this morning.  We had some testing that needed done though and I hung in at work until 11:30.  After that, I took a nap hoping the pain would just go away. I woke up about 3 and seem better now, just a little weak.

Have a few things worthy of updates from today though:

  1. My grandfather is doing ok after having stents put in his heart today.
  2. Our floors are on back-order.
  3. The OTH article came out in the paper today and it’s HUGE.  More on that in a separate post.

The Bachelor March 24, 2008

March 24, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

OK, I wasn’t really going to post on this week’s but what is with all the singing and weird freak show stuff?  Did they go to all the local talent and freak shows to find these girls?  They are mighty pretty but did you notice the singing girls didn’t get a rose tonight?

And on top of that, what was with the cat thing?  I can’t wait to have him purr and sit on my lap again because he’s the love of my life right now?  What??

One other note..I believe this is the first Bachelor I have felt was 100% ok with an interracial relationship and didn’t feel like a person of color was put on there just for a checkmark somewhere.  So, way to go.

I have yet to figure out frontrunners yet.  He seems smitten with quite a few of them.

The Hills March 24, 2008

March 24, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Yay!  New episodes of The Hills!  Here are my thoughts for the night:

  • The store closing…saw that coming a mile away.
  • Love Spencer’s sister’s comment “Write down everything you did and do the opposite”
  • I love Heidi’s Dad.  Go away Spencer!
  • Matthias was staring Lauren down, was he not?  I kept waiting for her to melt away.
  • Felt disaster coming on with the gown.  She needed a fairy godmother to make her a new gown!
  • Dinner was so awkward with Spencer and Heidi.  Awful!
  • Matthias waiting on that Vespa…very weird.  She must have been freezing!
  • This season looks good and so excited to see Stephen!!  We OTH fans have gotten to see him on OTH and now we get to see him with Lauren!

  2. You get teary-eyed when you find an expired ECB.
  3. You always know where your scissors are.
  4. You run out of printer paper frequently.
  5. You buy more than one copy of the Sunday paper.
  6. You know all the cashiers and possibly what car they drive.
  7. You know what day your CVS restocks.
  8. You know the CVS 800 number by heart.
  9. You have a diabetes monitor in your house..but no one has diabetes.
  10. You have more ECBs than cash in your wallet.

Got any more you can think of, CVSers??

You look great..just like a Scarlet

March 24, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

At our choir special Sunday morning they had us put scarves over our heads to look the women in Biblical times.  I had a very pretty red color and a very nice man in our choir was trying to compliment me that it looked nice…because we were all feeling pretty dorky.  The conversation was pretty funny though.

Very Nice Man: Your scarf looks nice.  You look like a Scarlet.

Me (confused–was he referring to an adulteress wearing the red A or a harlot very close to sounding like scarlet): You mean a harlot?

VNM: Yes!  A harlot.  I got confused.

Me (putting my hand on his shoulder and saying in a whisper): You know harlot means a whore?

VNM: Oh my gosh!  I got confused!  You don’t look like a harlot!!!

We had a nice laugh about it.  Poor guy.  He was just trying to be nice.
