Do any of these birth years make anyone else cringe?

Brooke White (1983)
David Archuleta (1990)
Carly Smithson (1983)
David Cook (1982)
Ramiele Malubay (1987)
Chikezie (1985)
Syesha Mercado (1987)
Jason Castro (1987)
Kristy Lee Cook (1984)
Michael Johns (1978)

Michael Johns is the “old guy” and born the same year as me.  Waaaahhhh…

Love Note #1

March 24, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Emma has officially received her first love note. It only took five short years of life. Here’s the story on this.

A few days ago D called me and said he was talking with a boy at Emma’s school and he says, “I got big news. I finally have a girlfriend.” They ask who it is and then figure out it’s my Emma and then he says, “I like Emma. She’s so funny.” Apparently they got a big kick out of him talking about her.

Well, last night I found a note folded up on her desk and read it while Emma was going to the bathroom before bed last night. Emma came in and I think she muttered something about her not wanting me to see it. I asked her if it was from Chandler since it clearly has his name on it but she says no, it’s from Brandon(name changed). He gave it to me on the playground. We kept going in circles about why it would have Chandler’s name on it but I finally gave up.

Chandler’s mother works as the music teacher at the school and I asked her about it when she was putting the kids in the car today and she says, No, it was definitely from Chandler. She asked the teacher to put it in Emma’s bag.

So there we have it. I have no idea where Emma is getting her story because it is really, really not like Emma to make something like that up. She must be confused about something else. Nevertheless, here’s the note:

Randomness

March 23, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

As I thought this weekend flew by. Here are a few points of interest:

  1. Amen to my sister’s last post about my aunt and uncle’s marriage. It was fabulous news today. I give all the glory to God…we’ve all been praying for a miracle and it happened. Great news to receive on Easter…one more reason to praise Him today!
  2. My grandfather had another heart attack last night. Please pray for him as they will go in at 7am tomorrow.
  3. Still no hardwoods. The big orange box will be getting a call in the morning. Not very happy. At. all.
  4. I have finally officially watched The Godfather in full. I thought it was a great movie. And you may not believe it, but I had no clue that was Al Pacino, Robert Redford OR Diane Keaton the first time through. I watched it a second time with Scott tonight.
  5. Our choir special was awesome this morning. If nothing else, I know the choir was moved. Our closing song was Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone).
  6. After stuffing myself with ham, candy and more candy, I may have to look into my own weight loss plan.
  7. The newspaper article about OTH will definitely be in this week’s paper, probably available Tuesday.
  8. This is my last week in my read the Bible in 90 Days program.  Currently I’m a day ahead and the plan is technically for 88 days so I’m hoping to finish a little early.  I’m so very glad I did it.
  9. And most importantly, Emma told me today that she asked Jesus into her heart!!!  We were talking about the real meaning of Easter and she said she knew it all and Jesus wasn’t in the tomb and he lives in our hearts.  I said Yes, if you ask Him.  She said I already did.  I was shocked and she didn’t seem too open to answer questions so I let a few minutes go by and asked her more and she said she had not done it at school or church, that she had done it a one night while we were saying our bedtime prayers.  She said she did it “a long time ago”.  I have no idea what she may understand at this point but I do know it starts with childlike faith and she can build on what she knows.  Hallelujah, thank you, Jesus!

This has been a great Easter weekend, I hope yours has been too!!

Happy Easter

March 22, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Wow, what a day.  I just got home after being gone all day.  Left for choir at 9, stopped back by at 11 to let Mattie out and then headed to Mom’s where we stayed until just a few minutes ago.  We spent the day shopping, eating and watching movies in my parents’ new theater room.  It’s so nice!

Tomorrow will be just as busy as we have church and dinners to attend tomorrow.  I hope you are having a great Easter weekend and I’ll leave you with a passage our choir director left with us this morning.

Isaiah 53:5

But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.

Remember.

It’s going to be a blur

March 21, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

I’m pretty sure this weekend will be quite a blur starting in about an hour or so.  My uncle and his family came into town for the weekend. I had planned on getting off early but I ended up having to finish up user testing with the changes I’ve been working on all week so I’m stuck here until those are done.  I’m assuming I’ll be at Mom’s with them most of the weekend.  I have choir practice in the morning and then of course church and Easter dinners Sunday.  I’m guessing Monday morning will come all too quickly.

Britney Spears on HIMYM

March 20, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Hop over to java-girl.org to see some scenes with Britney on How I Met Your Mother. Finally. I see 30 seconds of the old Britney in there somewhere. Sane. Orderly. Cute. Funny. Blonde (ish–anyone else hate her hair dark?).  At least we know she’s capable of acting like that again.

Oh and no hardwoods

March 20, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

We never did hear from Home Depot today about our floors :(.  I know Scott is working all weekend but I would just feel better if the speed at which this project went was in our hands instead of the big orange box.
