Back on Weight Watchers…

April 28, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

…at least for a few days weeks…after several days weeks of eating whatever I felt like, it’s time to strap down and lose a few.  So there.  I’m saying it out loud so I feel bad when I eat something I shouldn’t.

So far today all I’ve had is coffee (I had that iced coffee from McD’s and asked for an extra shot of vanilla and it was GOOD), a salad and a small cup of milk.

And I’ve GOT to get back on the elliptical.  I don’t think I’ve spent more than 6 minutes on my elliptical since I had the flu several weeks months ago.

Do you get the feeling I’m in denial about how bad my diet and exercise is??

On the road again…

April 27, 2008 by Amy 1 Comment

and really wanting to be OFF IT.  We’re currently about 2 hours from home and this trip is not nearly as fun as the ride up.  The kids are in a whiny mood I think from lack of sleep the past few days and also being confined in the car.  They don’t seem as interested in watching movies.  Emma seems to be coming down with some sort of cold.  Scott and I have had a rough few days as well.  I think I may have PMS and it’s not helping anything.  But not to depress anyone, a few funny things heard on the way home.

Scott was giving us his usual smack talk and was trying to say  he was going to Turkey to share the “Good news of Jesus” and said “Good Juice of Jesus”.  Could that mean he’s going to hand out some sort of water or wine?

Emma was trying to say we were going to eat at Cracker Barrel and called it Cracker Bella. Some so rt of nickname for Belle from Beauty and the Beast?

Lexi was trying to say Amsterdam (where Scott is making a stop on the way to Turkey next month) and she said Easter man. What do you say to that?

Scott was going through the animal sounds with the girls.  He asked what Mommy says and one of them said “Be quiet!”  He then asked what Daddy says and Emma says, “No sugar!”  Sounds about right.

Kelly’s Wedding

April 26, 2008 by Amy 1 Comment

So today was the big shebang.  And I really hope no one in these pictures mind their pictures on here…lol.  The wedding was really, really beautiful.   You could tell these two were just giddy in love and so ready to do this thing.  After 10 years of marriage, it almost made me want to barf lol.  Ok, just kidding.  It was great to see that excitement in two people.  It’s a rare thing these days.

The decorations, food, singing, even the people were all beautiful.  Kelly and Brandon have some very pretty family and friends.  The rain even held off for them until the very end.

And without further adieu, here are some pictures.  First off, let’s take a look at the fashion for the day.  Because last night Heather, Scott and I had to run out and buy the girls new dresses because the ones I brought just didn’t cut it.  So we went with the purple theme of the wedding.  It paid off actually.  Here are my little princesses:

And here is the dress I bought from the Dress Barn the other day when we went shopping. I also found those very cute hot pink pumps and matching bracelet at the mall yesterday.  Emma took this picture. You can see we were laughing  about it.  I think she did well.

So let’s get started with the ceremony!  The two say their vows.  I did get a little teary-eyed during this.  He honestly was the most earnest groom I’ve ever heard give his vows.  So sweet.

The lighting of the unity candle…two become one.

It’s official…

Between the ceremony and reception Amy takes a minute to check in on email on the beloved iPhone (did I mention my MOM got one and I just set it up tonight?!  Wish I had THAT training session on video).  Can’t lose a minute.

The cake (and cutting).  They were too very nice to each other during the exchange.

maryland-4-26-161.jpg

We all take some time during the reception to grab some family photos.  Mom took this one of Heather and I.

We grab one with our cousin Amber.  Isn’t she gorgeous??

All my girl cousins on my Dad’s side.  We’re second generation of Nana’s girls.  I wish I had a picture of us growing up at Christmas to post and compare.  We always got our pictures taken together.

And finally, the two newlyweds grab a kiss towards the end of the reception.

Congratulations, Kelly and Brandon!

Kelly’s Wedding Day

April 26, 2008 by Amy Leave a Comment

Today’s the big day.  We’re already pressing dresses, picking out accessories, drying hair and getting emotionally prepared for today’s wedding of my cousin.  Somewhere in this city a bride is getting her hair done, the groom is going to get in his tux and today they get to say I Do.  I congratulate both of them and pray God blesses their marriage.   And ditto to what Heather posted.

Unnamed Meme

April 25, 2008 by Amy 1 Comment

Lynellen tagged me…

The rules are:
The rules of the game get posted at the beginning.
Each player answers the questions about themselves.
At the end of the post, the player then tags 5-6 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and asking them to read your blog.
Let the person who tagged you know when you’ve posted your answer.

1. What was I doing 10 years ago. In April of 1998 I was finishing my sophomore year of college and preparing for my August wedding.
2. What are 5 things on my to-do list for today? Since is 11:36 pm, the only thing on my list to do is finish this meme and go to sleep.
3. Snacks I enjoy: Cheese and crackers, ice cream, cereal.
4. Things I would do if I was a billionaire. No plans for that but I suppose I would make ourselves comfortable, do the same for our families and then give away the rest.
5. Three of my bad habits: not putting dirty clothes in the hamper, leaving dishes out, putting trash on the countertop of the trash.  Can you tell I live with a clean freak?
6. 5 Places I have lived: Maryland, North Carolina and South Carolina
7. 5 Jobs I have had: movie store clerk, real estate assistant, ice cream parlor person, computer programmer
8. 5 people I want to know more about: anyone who wants to tell me more.  Sorry, I’m so bad at tagging people.  Please feel free to complete if you’d like.

Hello from off the road

April 24, 2008 by Amy 1 Comment

We made it to town about 5:45 this evening and went straight to our favorite restaurant. We’ve been simply hanging out at the house (my parents’ vacation house in their hometown) all evening and it’s been really nice and relaxing. I thought I’d share a really fun moment from the trip today.

There’s a certain part of the trip that’s pretty tough to get through. You go through a lot of turns like one of these we took:

maryland-4-24-011.jpg

And up and down a lot of hills like these:

maryland-4-24-075.jpg

And it’s at the very last part of the trip. It usually makes me car sick and it always seems to take forever since it’s at the end. Anyway, I can’t even remember whose idea it was but we decided to roll all the windows down since it was 80 today and Emma said it felt like she was on a roller coaster since we were probably going 50 through all this. So we went with it and actually had A LOT of fun. Let me show you how much….

maryland-4-24-044.jpg

maryland-4-24-043.jpg

Love this one…can you feel the fun?

maryland-4-24-046.jpg

Even Heather and I got into it…

maryland-4-24-049.jpg

I highly, highly recommend taking advantage of a really warm day and some crazy local roads.  It really was something that makes you say, “That was fun.”

But then we were on to more normal roadtrip fun…

a nap…

maryland-4-24-080.jpg

…complaining about the manure from the farms

maryland-4-24-067.jpg

and also staring at farm after farm like these…

maryland-4-24-001.jpg

maryland-4-24-087.jpg

Alright, that’s all I’ll gab about the trip today.  We had some fun moments and we arrived safely.  Happy to be on a little vacation and looking forward to seeing the family.  Now on to more important things like Grey’s Anatomy and Lost…
